Oh, I don't know if any of you guys saw this, but during BT's set around 1:45ish this bouncer and some dude came crashing into the room. The bouncer was manhandeling the guy by his neck and looked like he wanted to fuck him up something feirce. The guy got thrown to the ground (by his neck no less), got back up and started talking shit to the bouncer (what a fucking moron if you ask me lol). The bouncer turned away to walk back to his post or whatever, then decided to fuck the guy up a little more. He grabbed him by the neck again and starting throteling him and pushing him through the crowd.
At Gilen - 40 year old asian couple dry humping in a dark corner.
At Ferry - Man gets thrown to the ground by his neck.
One "holly fuck" moment for each party lol.
K 1:18 and i just got back from curch..
so..night started off well with ninjapimp, infinityhigh and i taken off for the pre meetup. to all those who were pissed off at me, i dont blame u..but i walways show up 45 minutes to an hour late for meetups cos nobody shows up usually till about that time anyway
so...was nice meeting the peeps from michigan ie. djarecebo and crew. was nice finding out all the info about michigan for good old Elmo...but the guy still couldnt get him....was like one of those sad movies when the man and woman split apart for the rest of their life
anyways..so we get in, addy is droppin some dirty fuckin beats...very impressive warm up set i must say. Kudos to Addy if he reads this.
infinity_high and i went to the mainroom for a bit and found the eeasiest way to get abck to the kool haus was by tagging along with the dude transporting BTs fones between rooms
BT starts settin up and when i noticed the apple logo on his laptop, out of a stupid fit of mine i yelled "Macs suck" to which he asked if i was some kind of a promoter of IBM and Bill Gates.
...
so 1 hour later, im goin fuckin bizzerk in front of him to Emerge and he takes notice and yells "AND YOU SAID MAC SUCKS???" with an evil chuckle..
BT tore the crowd up like a dagger...really fuckin brilliant....
Who i was really there to see was Holden and
Staarted off his set with the original mix of Nothing and just went DIIIIIRTYYYYYYYYYYYYY after that..fuckin pounding like a fuckin bomb... too bad he didnt play legacy (even tho he says he had it) nor his returning 93 mix (which was obviously gonna be his conclusoin track) but due to time constraints and since it was MR. Corsten's turn on the decks he couldnt.
the downside of last night were:
1. the dude up front whom i politely told not to blow his fuckin whistle 5 times and a whole load of others following suite.he didnt do so tho. i think it was like a habit...i can excuse him cos when i told him everytime he said he wouldnt but 10 minutes later, there it was *bee*bee*bee*bee*
2. the dude who interupted my talk with holden and just made a fooll of himself..this is how it went:
dude: hey great set man...are u from toronto?
holden
brit accent) no no, im from London
dude: oh London, Ontario?
Holden: nono, London UK
last night i just thought how low some people make DJs feel..sorry i just have to went this out....i saw tons of people giving napkins and shit to get signed...how can someone stoop so low and give a napkin to get signed????ur basically showing that even tho u came to see the DJ, u didnt get something worthwile to sign which u can keep treasured.
anyway to end this page long review(longer than answers in my exams), shout out to all the TAs i met last night..was wanting to see 80 of us together..but it all got ruined cos @12, BT was sceduled to come on and thats when the meetup was to be.

why is it when ferry is here, there is so much female sexuality displayed and i always miss out on it??
Shit! Someone was supposed to take me to meet J-spot, weren't they? Can't remember who. Who was J-spot?
Easy, Liam- they weren't actually stripping on stage- just standing in the background, bobbing their silicone all over the place. One in particular was throwing herself at Ferry quite a bit.
stupid bitch.

Hmmm, where to begin a review of this night. Ahh yes, from the very beginning. The line up was good, allbeit a little slow to begin with (and i say this as someone who came at 10:15). Wouldn't have been much of a factor but it was bitchy weather and i was only wearing UFO's and a light jacket. Got inside and the KH was looking really good, I loved the drapperies (or whatever the name for those white curtains are) with the images projected on them. Made for an interesting scene. Even the crowd looked good when Addy started spinning some mean beats. I don't really know if i have heard Addy before, but this man really impressed me with his progressive house and tribal selections. He really had the crowd geared up for what was to follow. I think by the time BT showed up on the stage most people figured that Addy was going to finish but it took at least another hour of BT milling around, connecting this wire to that, bopping his head to the music, talking to the crowd, encouraging the crowd to get more pumped and giving props to Addy (all with a big smile on his face). Gotta give the man respect, I wasn't on any drugs last night, but just his positive attitude really impressed me. So, at some point Addy finished his set and BT came on and begin with a track that sampled Eminem's vocal 'nobody listens to techno'. I actually enjoyed the track although i have never heard it before and though that BT had great stage presence along with a good selection of tunes. I think set times previously announced on a post must have been wrong because BT seemed to spin for 2 hours, not 1.5, and dropped classics as well as new material, 'dreaming' and 'calling your name' being songs that i think most people recognized instantly.
So after BT, came the king of the Pixies, and what does he choose to drop as his opening...the massively popular "Nothing". I have to say, I enjoyed BT's set, but Holden was simply incredible. The fact that he's only 18 (or 19) showed because he was completely digging the music he was playing which was great to see. The track selection too was incredible, a lot of new stuff which i had not heard as well as old material and his own remixes. ( can't believe he dropped Selways - Move (that track is from Tranceport 2 !!!
). To me, the night had many negative points, most were my own mood ( I don't really think i had my full party mood on, because my piece of shit shoes were bothering me) but there can be no complains about the music. Holden ripped the government complex apart with his beautiful songs. It was a real pleasure to hear him at work (and anyone who thinks he's only a producer and can't mix will agree...He CAN !).
So, now that i've done elaborating the good points a few bads one's. The crowd....Mmmm, yes, too many meat heads, too much silicone, too many people on the floor and very little room to dance. At one point i saw a bouncer choke a guy all the way from the passage way connecting the orange room into the centre of the KH. It was unsettling for a sober person, so i can't imagine what people who were on 'elevated plains of joy' would have thought. I'm sure the guy in question was in the wrong, but to see a bouncer choke a man who didn't seem to be fighting back seemed a bit brutal to me. Anyway, the negative points didn't really outwiegh the good so all in all it was a good night. Sorry I can't comment on Ferry, I took off as soon as i heard Holdens excellent remix of "Fine Day" and saw Ferry on the decks....I'm sure he played the kind of music his fans love, but i just didn't want the night to end on a down for me so i took off. So that's it...another massive party, another excellent debut. Well done Guvernment !
PS. Nearly forgot...Ran into TranceArmada (first person i met on the TA board) and was introduced to both Mecha and Firestarter. It was good meeting both you guys !
The night for me started off pretty shitty.... As i was waiting in the guest list line I had to pee reallllllllllllllllllly bad to the point where i couldn't hold it any longer so I told my bf (djlocomoco) and his cousin to just wait there while i went pee somewhere lol when I got back the bouncers kicked them out of the front and wouldn't let us back in the line cus they closed it. We then had to go back to the end of the other line and wait again. I find that the security at Guv are a bunch of a**holes who think that they are so cool that they work there. I think Guv can get a better staff then that...
Next when we finally got inside we lost my bf for a good 45 mins. I didn't even know if he got in or not. blah blah blah... Finally found him and he was kind of on a downer as was i.
BT was spinning at this moment and was spinning great tracks but just didn't get into it cuz we were all so pissed off.
Holden was really good too.. i especially liked his first and last track hehehe
Ferry was amazing as always... I fall in love with him even more each time I see him
I loved how he would take the time out and sign autographs for so many ppl... great spirit!!! (I got my bf's shirt signed from him with no hesitation.)
Things that sucked was the freaking RAIN lol (shit water falling from the ceiling) that was so gross... it was so bad that it truly felt like it was raining at times. And if you check your shirts after you will see brown spots.
And TATgirl you are so right about those gina's on the stage I especially liked when they got kicked off cuz they were making ferry's records skip.
To all the ppl I met it was nice meeting you... just can't remember all the TA names.
Sorry that was kind of long!!!!
Had a Blast
Got there before 11, this was the first time the line up went soooo fast ever for me into the kool haus...
Met a Couple TA's
DJ El Kay Dee( met @ the entrance in the beginning, didn't see you after that)
Infinity Hight
tatgirl
Time2burn
and a couple others which I don't recall the names(sorry)
I was looking for more TA's all night but I couldn't recognize anymore...
overall great party

Can someone please tell me exactly what BT was doing on his laptop?
Most people thought he was using vinyl scratch, but I had suspected some type of real-time, click and drag, loop software.
Either way, it was very interesting, but I don't think I have ever seen a live pa set that had so much of other people's songs.
Peace,
Rich

So, I wasn't the only one in a bum mood over security guard/ herding of people issues?
Dripping ceiling sucked.
Past 3 pm and I'm still awake, unable to pry myself from computer. 2 days in a row like this. I gotta stop unnecessarily 'training' for the WMC (week of no sleep), or I'll be dead before my flight down there.
ok i'm dead tired, haven't slept yet and i've got to hold out until tonight, somehow...
ok yeah, anyways, here's my review...
got in pretty quick and was surprised there were no lineups anywhere the whole night actually, coat check incl. also the place never got packed, always had more than enough room...
got in at around 11:30, and ADDY was ripping it up, amazing warm up set!! BT continued exactly where ADDY left off and took it up a notch and was great!! however, holden's set was a huge letdown for me... I expected so much more from him... his track selection was all over and there was no flow to his set whatsoever... I liked the openning track, but thats about it... Ferry though, wow, what a surprise he was, simply an amazing set... he wasn't anthemic at all, and hearing solstice live finally, mmmmm, been waiting to hear it live for years...
but yea, overall it would have been 10/10 were it not for holden's boring set... :/
Based on what I read on previous performances by BT I wasnt really excited to see him. I was only really hoping that he'd play a bunch of his older tunes. And that he did, but to my surprise he managed threw down some really nasty beats in between which forced me to start bouncing around the place uncontrollably. Anyways yea I thought he was pretty good last night. I mean yea his *mixing* was off pretty badly on a couple of tracks (some mixes were totally off beat but youd still see him pumping his fists up in the air, god bless him lol). Godspeed towards the end was REALLY nice way to finish things up and overall on the whole id have to say that I liked him. Hes definately a good "performer" that carries alot of charisma and stage presence.
James Holden...hmmmmm...going into last night I didnt really know what to expect from him. I thought id hear a half decent set but at the same time I wasnt really expecting anything mindblowing from him either. Well his set last night was definately a pleasant surprise for me. It was easily one of the better sets I have heard in a while. OK so hes no Diggers or Howells when it comes to technical skills but the choones he dropped last night were AMAZING! As mandapanda mentioned it was soooooooooooo cool hearing Smith and Selway - Move. I wasnt expecting that AT ALL!!! AT ANY CLUB!!! EVER!!! Anyways yea he FUCKING KILLED IT. And I thinks its safe to assume that with time he will only get better and better. That being said James Zabiela still > James Holden!
Also I just had to point out the amazing job that Manzone and Strong did last night/have done everytime that I have gone to the Drink. For some odd reason, Tranceaddict does not seem to be giving any love to these two FANTASTIC DJS! And so, without trying to sound like too much of a ballwasher *lol* ive taken it upon myself to give these guys some well deserved credit. Last night as has been the case with all the other times I have gone to the Drink they totally FUCT SHIT UP. As the night rolls on they progressively get GRIMMIER! DARKER! PHILTHIER! NASTIER! They play lots of REALLY REALLY GOOD *chunky*tribally*rolling*tech funk*. Think along the lines of their *Comfort Zone,*Amigos Boat Cruises* styles. Anyways I just wanted to let the people of Tranceaddict know that there is a extremely happening party going on every Saturday that goes until the wee hours of the morning with some of the freshest and nastiest beats this city has to offer. K yea I know its the Drink, and I know how *most* of you feel about that place and its *dude*bud*patrons* but most of the dude bud population leave early anyways and its really not that bad after bar hours. They play to a full crowd until at least around 5/6 every Saturday and its definately a party worth checking out. Anyways I just wanted to say that you guys ROCK and keep up the amazing work. I cant wait for the Amigos Boat Cruises (Itikia and Swamper know what im talking about lol)...only a couple of more months to go *sigh*
And K so overall id have to say that last night was a REALLY FUN NIGHT for me. Lots of good tunes + LOTS of VERY pretty girls + me being totally FUCT up *lol* ========== a VERY fun time for me...!
10/10
And now its time to see if I can TRY and take another extended break from partying until Easter Weekend (the annual Idream party with ONE of my FAVORITE DJS on the planet in Steve Lawler alongside Tom Stephan and Desyn Masiello. And who could forget the PVD kidnapping project @ Viva) although JVM and Tomiie in early April look pretty tempting.
Trancegeek likes trance, once again!

Re: Review: UltraSpin - BT, James Holden, Ferry Corsten, etc. - 03.08.03

I know the girl on the left as well, a damn good dancer and a nice person to talk to. Although i didn't really get a chance to see her last night. Personally, i'd take a candy raver convention to the meat heads that were running rampant last night. At least the ravers are don't carry a BS attitude with them, and they keep their friggin shirts on !
haha I find it interesting how the TA's are complaing moreso than the Tribers (who are reknown for being extremely picky).
Holden needed another hour man, thats all. And if you consider the fact that he had to come off after the fucking Showboat and before mr.trance_in_my_pants, I thought he did an excellent job.
Holden was so fucking funny. Who saw him pouding JD straight out of that bottle? hahaha

I saw him pounding the JD, lol!
Kytracid- Mel wasn't there last nite- the guy who started the thread made up that whole story- he never went (re-read the 1st post).
That pic looks really old cuz Mel looks real young in that pic.

No argument there.
Personally, Care Bear sheets converted into phat pants and pacifiers were never my thing.
