Ah the mp3 discussion again. Lets put it this way:

If mp3s were never "invented" and Airwave decided to quit producing tomorrow and follow his dream of being a romantic writer instead, I definately would doubt there is anybody that would give a cup of shit.

Sorry but its just reality. And please explain ASOT being discontinued.

Posted by dj tek on Mar-14-2003 01:01:

i doubt he'll give up producing for good.. i mean, ppl with that much passion for music and can do it that well, i think its impossible for them to just quit cold turkey.. shit im not in love with cigarettes or anything but i just cant seem to stop smoking... cheer up ppl.. i think we'll be hearing good news soon

Hehe I hope not, I just used that as a sarcastic example

Posted by jc on Mar-14-2003 01:26:

we don't know the real reasoning behind his thoughts on stopping but if it cause of the mp3 scene and fact of bonzai closing then I do not see ANY reasoning behind that at all

quitting is for the weak

jeez, i just read about airwave and fire & ice in the other thread... and now ASOT??? wtf??? this REALLY upsets me, seriosly, i have a headache now. i mean, i like ASOT a LOT, and maybe i don't listen to it often, but, IMHO, it stands as a symbol... something that's been going on for a while, something great. armin's efforts. amazing stuff. over now? ffs!

and airwave, my classic favorites airwave... green martian... fire & ice...

someone please confirm the ASOT cancellation... wtf??????

i'm sorry, even if these are only rumours, i still feel like punching and breaking my monitor

I love it how these artists claim that they're "in it for the music" but when it all boils down to it and their label goes bust they go and say they're going to quit, all that is showing is that they're "in it for the money". I can understand the anger that would be involved if the label I was signed to went out of business, but don't blame it on your fans for downloading your songs on MP3. If it were not for the MP3 I would not have even discovered trance, yet alone half of the artists on the Bonzai label.

If L-Vee is worried about the money then why doesn't he start DJing more (does he even DJ at all?) These guys on the Bonzai label have MAJOR talent and they wouldn't have trouble finding another label that would sign them.

As for ASOT ending in April...can we verify this? I'm assuming he'll take it to ASOT #100 and then end it...if it will be discontinued

Posted by sifntj0r on Mar-14-2003 02:19:

the reason bonzai went bust is because they put out boring, repetitive, shit.

lets dance fanboys.

Posted by solidi on Mar-14-2003 02:20:

l-vee shouldn't be all disgruntled about this.
All he has to do is take his work elsewhere, and surely someone will sign him on.
As for him threatening to end his productions because of bonzai and mp3 use, i say fuck him. If and when he publicly releases a statement about the situtation, and if he blames the situtation on us, the listeners, thats when i'll stop listening to his work and I will not buy anything made by him, under his new label (if he finds one).

It's not like i never bought anything from this guy, I own a bonzai dj promo of cape-town pitstop

I think this situation he has created hurts him as a producer.

I'm doing a subject at uni this semester called "War and peace: A view into international politics" and it talks about how major events in the world for example 9/11 signify the beginning of a new era in world politics they label this beginning a "transformation" in the world, and it usually has its adverse affects eg. war on iraq

Are we witnessing the same chain of events in "Trance" ?. With the death of Lightning records a "transformation" seems to be occuring with Airwave pulling the plug and "ASOT" comming to a premature end.

it's nice and all to say you're in it for the music, but it is, or was his job and at the end of the day he still has bills to pay.

as for the whole mp3 situation, sure mp3s made him and bonzai big.. but it also killed it. the balance between mp3s and sales is way out of line..

just my thoughts anyway..

Posted by burns on Mar-14-2003 08:53:

Pretty frightning that such a big label can go down, This could be the beginning of something nasty.

I think L-Vee will be back, not that i give a shit, laterz.

Posted by Rising on Mar-14-2003 11:37:

FUCKING BULLSHIT!

airwave will make a little break froom the scene maybe then will return big time!

ASOT will not stop , maybe in a few months, years.. STOP THE FUCKING RUMouRS!! get a life.

According to Armin Van Buuren himself the rumours about the end of ASOT was not true at all! "ASOT WILL continue, your thursdaynight dancetreatment with the newest tunes selected" - Armin says.

From Ivibes.nu :http://www.ivibes.nu/index.php?article=1922

Asot will no stop!

Posted by TOR on Mar-14-2003 16:01:

i think l-vee is just going through a difficult period at the moment, what with his album being spread over the internet before it was even released and now the closure of bonzai. but he'll get over it, no doubt.. it is not possible that someone puts so many emotion into a track, when he's just in it for the money.. it's his passion, so i think he'll be back for sure!
