So why doesn't Bush wait then. they are disarming aren't they?!?! Its not like Iraq poses a serious threat to any American people right now. They have no long range launchers. There are so many others out there esp in africa that are in much greater need of help, as many more are dying there, but Iraq has already been chosen for one reason and one reason only, oil.
i support alec.
the us should turn its attention to north korea, a country that they can actually prove has these weapons/abilities. this is an oil motivated war.
if the us were truly concerned about its long term safety in the international community it wouldn't veto the WTOs efforts at bringing affordable AIDS/HIV drugs (among others) to developing nations, it would not withdraw funding from the UN's population fund, it would not have refused to acknowledge the International Criminal Court's jurisdiction (doing so required the removal of their signature from the Vienna Convention of 1968 as to the policy of treaties and signatories), (these examples all pertain to the last year) they would not act against the international community. among many other things, not to mention their us v.s. them rhetoric which is sure to get them far....
well done blu

the idiot blew it off when he said "don't burn the oil fields" hahahah what a moron! I mean its so obvious its about the oil!
and also, iraki soldier, don't shoot american soldiers, they'll shoot you!!
gimme a break!
he sounded like a father that nobody listens to
Dont misinterpret my last comment it wasnt aimed at you but at the men in power leading your nation to a catastrophic kismet. I dont blame you for the cunning curtain that has been pulled over eyes by American media, propaganda is a crucial asset of combat in any war. However that is not an excuse to support Americas cultured terrorism in Iraq, the Internet can be a wonderful source of objective information that allows you to base your opinion on concrete facts rather than self-centered American media. I sincerely hope that you take the chance to cagily observe the kind of rubbish the general American public is bombarded with every day in order to sway them to support Americas illicit transgression in Iraq.

also, it is funny how Bush talked about the Internation Court when his country doesn't believe in it because they fear they could get put in jail for what they're doing worldwide.
yeah malek i have no idea what he's referring to when it comes to the ICC, if the US wont' recognize it out of fears of constraining their international efforts ~ for whatever reasons ~ some say it would have constrain them in acting in cases like somalia...anywayz you can't try someone in a court your don't recognize, and have removed your signature even from the papers giving the intention to create such a body, i don't believe there's another institution capable of handling these cases. (i won't even begin on how you can put someone on trial who's position in their society is part of their body of national defense, they are legitimate as a member of their national army, acting under domestic orders....)
I really have no idea what Bush thinks he's doing with that, but I mean for only one thing in a Bush speech to befuddle me, he's getting better.
yeah the oil fields were a real hoot and a hollar. but i must admit, his speech was definately aimed at a higher browed international audience as opposed to his terrible press conference last week.
.. at first it was the missles that the U.S wanted out of iraq.... but now they want saddam and his son out of iraq too?? hmmmm for some reason i dont see saddam saying "O.K" to that. oh and i guess we only have couple days before war..... why cant we just all get along.
let's all have a big

Bush is freakin nazi. I doubt he'll remain in power after this term. I have a feeling this is gonna backfire on him.
How are they selfish?
you mean they are unwilling to destroy an already impoverished country who is disarming? I mean don't get me wrong, we all hate Saddam, but there are other ways to go about it. CNN and naked news shouldn't be your only news source!

30 countries woooooow and it happens to be half of them are MICKEY MOUSE COUNTRIES : Afghanistan, Albania, Azerbaijan, El Salvador, Eritrea, Estonia, Ethiopia, Georgia,Iceland,Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Nicaragua, United Kingdom, and Uzbekistan
by bombing irak , bush is only giving another reasons to terrorists to make more attacks. i swear i will not be surprised if something worse than 9/11 happens again
my thoughts exactly. And the countries that aren't mickey mouse countries are only doing it cuz they're pussies who can't stand on their own two feet. I mean when will Japan ever worry about terrorist attacks from Iraq?!? They just wanna side with the states because they're yes men, who've got their own interestes with trade at stake.
ahahaha Eritrea this country is stuck between ethiopia and somalia it's not even recognized by the rest of the countries ahahahaha
Praise France for having the balls to speak out against the American oppression!
I take my hat off to Chirac for so flagrantly denouncing this crime, and even though the majority of this planet sees eye to eye with him there are not many people who got the balls to speak out against Bushs nazi regime. There you have a president who's got a 90% support of his people!
Since I advised you to present facts and not fabricated balderdash Ill tell you what are the results of the elaborated polls conducted in most of the EU countries along with the US on the question who is a bigger threat to worlds peace: Hussein or Bush?
EVERY SINGLE EUROPEN country including the UK had Bush top the polls by at least 10% ahead of Saddam. In the US Saddam Hussein was only about 15% behind your own president!!!
Ill rest the case, but be sure and certain that the innocent American public will pay a might heavy price for Bush & Cos barbarian paradigms but unlike 11.09.2001 you undoubtedly wont have the worlds sympathy.
may i compliment the montreal TAs for their super arguments
what i really don't get is why the american people seem incapable of empathy. unfortunately america does not see the human element to war, they don't realize that bombs cause death and destruction because they seem to need to be faced with the effects themselves. the world would be better off without the bombs falling this evening. everyone would be.
unfortunately it seems that the only way america will realize the gravity of war is to suffer casualties so all we can hope is that soon the body bags come back and people will re-think their position on war, see the dimensions of war that exist behind the tough talk of their president.
i support chirac's stance, democracy is supposed to be about representation not manipulation. bush is both manipulating his own citizens as well as governments abroad and this is wrong. his heavy handed, with us or against us, there will be consequences rhetoric (there's great articles on the NYtimes regarding his threats to mexico) are an attempt to force governments to go against the demands of their citizens and align with the US. Most of the thirty countries that were anounced to be supporting the US stance on Iraq are countries that see their well being deeply tied into continued US support and aid (what little of it there is). the power element present in the relations between the US and those nations is undeniable. for countries that are somewhat less dependent on the US they are merely seeking to improve their trading relations and essentially kiss a$$.
all i can say now, 2 hours before his next address is i wish the americans would stop seeing themselves as victims, victims that deserve revenge. this is not the case, they can not revenge their losses due to a subnational terrorist group by attacking another state. and this stance will just encourage future attacks, whether its on their embassies or at home, the short sightedness of the bush adminstration is apalling.
empathy people!
americans are incapable of empathy because they never had a war in their territories , as simple as that ! maybe a second 9/11 will make them open their eyes
I'm just posting this to put it out there:
The Iraqi Perspective
The Iraqi government daily Al-Thawra published an editorial titled "The Victory of Iraq... is a Victory for Mankind." The editorial stated:
"When the American president declares that his evil administration does not make its decisions under the [pressure of] mass demonstrations here and there, he is in fact contradicting the false democratic values which he glorifies in every opportunity in his statements and speeches which are based on lies and deception..."
"Having failed to convince the world about the real motives of the U.S.'s aggressive threats against Iraq, which represent [envy of] Iraq's oil and strategic position, the administration of evil has begun to reveal with all the conceit and haughtiness its readiness to take a unilateral decision."(6)
Saudi Perspective
The Saudi daily Al-Watan drew historical lessons from the Yalta conference which convened in 1945 "to divide the world according to a new map." Two of the three participants in Yalta, the United States and the United Kingdom, took part in the Azores summit. Spain replaced the Soviet Union as the third party. Al-Watan wrote in its editorial:
"The enormous failure of three 'axis of war countries' to extract a war resolution against Iraq has led them to convene a war council and [make] decisions under the banner of ridding the world of weapons of mass destruction. It means that the issue does not concern the three countries alone but the entire world. ...This style of managing world crises threatens world security and threatens world equilibrium when three countries make decisions and proceed without paying attention to the entire world and without giving peaceful efforts a greater chance to avoid the dangers of war."(10)
