One question, about the battery life, what batteries are you using and how long do they last you???
Because I went to Best Buy and asked them to show me the best batteries they had which were the "Enegizer REchargable" and the guy told me they would last me ONLY 60 shots with the Canon A80, so I said screw that and didn't buy it...

I had read reviews that for the A70 and A80 you can get decent batteries and they can last you a while but I dunno how long they really last...

What batteries are you using cuz I know that camera uses 4AA batteries...

I have a Canon A40.

Battery usage all depends on the numbers of shots you use with Flash. I find a set of 4 AA NimH batteries can last 100-150 shots, using Flash in moderation.

I use ANSMANN 2200mAh NiMH batteries with a MAHA charger and seem to get over 200 shots with flash (over 500 shots without) after every complete charge. I definitely recommend these 2 brands but any NiMH batteries with a high mAh value should be good (I think 2200mAh is the highest you can get atm). You can buy MAHA batteries and charger from http://www.radioworld.ca Price list

Ok....its down to 4 options for me.

Cannon A70
Pentax Optio 33LF

Cannon s400
Pentax Optio 450

Ive had several digital cameras.. But I just splurged and bought a Canon Digital Rebel SLR. Its 6.3MP and it pretty sweet. I especially like the fact you can buy any Canon EF lens and they will work just fine with the D Rebel.

The only down side to this camera is since it is an SLR it can not take movies and you can not use the screen as a viewfinder..

Other than that sweet camera!

I've always wanted an SLR camera. 6.3MP sounds pretty damn good too!

Hello!

you can go on epinion.com and see what people have to say about different products they purchased. It'a pretty cool site. People write from their rating on a vacuum to a resort ect...check it out

Jeff get the A80 instead. I don't think there is a huge price difference.

Canon A80 is a good camera from what I heard. I was deciding between the A70 & my current one - Sony DscP8 when I was making a purchase.

I'll just like to say that with Sony, you can use other memory disc by other brands as well. I've got a Lexmark memory disc and it works well. As long as it's a memory disc, i don't think it matters what brand it is. On the upside, Sony's memory disc works on all sony products, so if you have a sony mp3, you can share the memory disc between your digicam & your mp3 player. Just thought I add that piece of information.

if my Sony F717 is to expensive to repair (damn orangina and vodka) then i'll get a Canon DRebel. The Sony F828 is so sexy and tempting, 8mp wonder.

If you really want a good digital camera and just want to keep it simple and not go overboard money wise...then i suggest you get the Canon Powershot S400. I got mine last month and it's amazing, so many features yet so easy to use, and at 4 MP.

PS- unless you're a professional photographer i wouldn't go above 4- 5 MP

I've been meaning to get a digital camera myself. A friend of mine told me don't get it at futureshop or places like that if you want high end cameras. He told me to check out a place call Vistech (I think that's how it's spelt). It's located at Shumac (again spelling) and Queen st. E. This place cator to the industry but will be happy to help the small guy. They have excellent service and they don't need your money because of the previous sentence. Anyway I plan to go check out this place someday. My advice is be patience and don't rush (cuz I'm waiting for the 7 egapixels ) Goodluck

I'm liking the Canon 300D but they don't have video recording from what I was told so far

P.S. Does anyone have a DVD burner and can burn me some discs at a reasonable price?
