dancing takes no skills really
you don't have to buy vids or practice dancing. dancing should be a spontaneous thing. if you try too hard to dance, you'll end up looking goofy and stiff. if you dance the way you dance around when something cool happens then you'll look like your enjoying yourself and look normal.
seriously just have fun and clear your mind. don't care what otheres think and most importantly don't look at anyone else and try to dance like them.
Heres a video of tyrrell (Cyber Teraz) at Gatecrasher

umm pills seem to do heaps for a lot of people, its actually ideal when you think about it because you dont care what other people are thinking about so you just do your own thing and have a great time!.
Sides' that , try watching other dancers when you go out. Grab bits and pieces from everyone and make your own style.
hope it helps.
Facts from observation (particularly drum'n'bass stuff):
The average person can't dance for fuck. Every event has its drunksteppers, so whatever your level, you'll fit somewhere in between the hardsteppers and the drunksteppers.
At the beginning, when the floor is just starting to fill up, everyone is watching. But way later on, everyone is either too self-involved, too tired to care, or the place is suddenly full of grungies who came from out of nowhere.
If you're not sure what you're doing, THIS is the time to try, particularly after spending enough time watching the good ones for examples.
