Please stop acting like this about 'full rips' being available on the hub. You don't have to tell the world you just found one.

Posted by C-quence on May-05-2003 12:34:

And it even isn't a full rip. It's an unmastered version.
Shame on the ripper, we (Bart & I) know who it is.

Posted by Passiva on May-05-2003 12:47:

Good. I think we should do something about people getting here to tell they found a 'full rip' of a tune which won't be released in months. Can't you guys think or something? Producers work hard to make quality tunes and you just spread it over the whole world without paying for it. Bah.

Remove us maybe? geez. I know that it's a problem and blah blah, but it's not like i'm putting a direct link in here so everyone may get. I'm sorry for doing an ass of myself, I just got excited, but seriously it's not like i'm forcing everyone to go get it, it's their option in the end. I know what producers have to go through, and the hard time they have to spend to give us gems like this, but as you know the rips aren't as good as the releases, so still, if I get a rip, i'll hella buy the release, as well as many others would do.

So fine, I won't do it again, but don't see me as a plague that needs to be cut just for doing this.

Posted by Narcissus on May-06-2003 08:58:

Bottom line is people who buy records will buy it and those who download music will download it...it won't effect the sales so .. no worries.
BTW i'm still waiting for HMV to send me Ringworld!!

maybe we should also pay to download your works off the "amateur producers" forum??? or you forgot the times when you were not known anywhere, and the first publicity you got was on these forums?

ok, let's assume another scenario. we won't spread your stuff over the internet. better yet, we won't spread the dj sets, in which your tunes play. WHO THE FUCK IS GOING TO BUY YOUR WORKS THEN????? 20 DJs in Holland, who listened to ID&T??????????????

jeez... just starting the career, and already think just about the money:\... sorry, but with this attitude you won't make it that far.

and i was starting to like and respect you very much as a producer

P.S. don't think i'm i hypocrite because of what's written in my signature. i download mp3s to listen to and enjoy the tunes, then, when they come out, i buy the stuff to show the artist my appreciation.

Well now im gonna explain to you why you're so totally wrong.
First, you think im saying this because of the money? Can't you just think further than that? Tell you what. Im gonna be honest now. What do you think I've got for the remix of Indigo on the flip? NOTHING.. JUST NOTHING! So why did I do that? Because of my love for the music, and I was already happy with a release..
About the amateures publibity:
If we post something, we ASK for feedback, we ASK it to be spread, because then we know people like it. We're not gonna complain if we see our tunes on Soulseek or whatever type of sharing network. So that's basically just a stupid example.
You may spread/download tunes before the release. But a topproducer doesn't ask to get his work spread on the internet. I personally think livesets/radio rips can do any harm, so thats fine. But when a full rip of the tune leaked out, the situation changes. I don't call this good publicity or whatever. Lots of people will get it and burn it onto cd to play it in their sets. And as I said before I'm not thinking about the money, but I'm thinking about OTHER producers who I would like to see producing more tunes in the future. Where would trance go without them.

Please think before you say something like that.

Greetings,
Galen

well... your previous posts in this thread implied that you were that greedy producer who sees mp3s good when they advertise his work and bad when they are quality rips of it. i'm happy to know i was wrong about that.

about the part of people burning it on cds. it's their modus vivendi, they won't change... if they can't burn mp3s on cds, they won't buy any vinyls/albums either. they'll simply give up. because this is what they got used to: either for free or nothing at all. and you won't change it, whatever things you do. there are those, however (including myself), that will go and buy, even after having mp3s.

you can't change a man's psychology.

hope you got me right.
