i thought pvd did a thing with roxy to set it at a lower price like last time before not the $50 ? but $50 is overkilled for a pvdaddict or anyone

i was thinking the same thing... it is expensive as fuck and i may hold out for a while to see if prices lower after a bunch of people bitch (doubtful). this is what i hate cuz even though it pisses me off to pay that much i probably would but i'm trying to take some friends who have never been to ya know, spread the scene and open their minds, but i am seriously doubting they will be cool with $50 to do it

Posted by stringfelowhawk on Mar-28-2003 12:53:

Does anyone have an email addy or some contact point for the people at Made? When they go through all these ticket vendors, you never know who's to blame. I wanna talk to someone and ask wtf the deal is. We all should try. I mean seriously, you can see PvD at most clubs around the country for 25-35. Given that its in NY and might be a little more expensive, but Roxy sucks (not shit compared to the new Space for example) and they charge that much more? Bullshit.

Edit: Found the address... [email protected] I say we all write them and complain about this shit. About how even the loyalist of PvD fans think this is ridiculous and are ashamed to be associated with the NY scene when shit like this happens. Something like that

Posted by rubyriva on Mar-28-2003 18:17:

i'm not happy about paying $50, but i will. cause i can. AND because it's pvd, and nothing will stop me from seeing him.

*i don't want to even begin to add up how much money i've spent on seeing pvd: plane tix, gas, tolls, admission, etc.*

Posted by VisionsofPVD on Mar-28-2003 18:31:

Arrow

This is just garbage and outright ridiculous...yes, in the end of it all, most of us will pay the $50 to see Paul...but I personally begin to lose some of the excitement and anticipation I feel knowing I'll be hearing van Dyk when I have to pay that much money for something I enjoy!

sounds like your dedication to pvd will be sending you to the poor student alliance, or maybe i should change it to insufficiently funded electronic music addicts (dont wanna exclude anyone right)

I dont really have a problem paying $50 to see the Masta, but if i have to pay the bouncers @ roxy another $20 to get anywhere near the front of the line, then thats $70 now....i hope its like 2 pvd's ago when they let anyone right in who had tix (what would be the point of getting tix then right??)..hopefully last time they were just scared due to the RI incident...

Posted by LuNaSeA on Mar-28-2003 20:15:

aaron: you can try info@made-events but they probably get so many emails that they don't bother looking at it..

i'm going to try emailing the girl who does press for made events. maybe we should even include this link....nyta's, represent

Its shit like this that makes me not mind as much that I'm gonna be moving from NY in a few months... hopefully the Seattle scene will pick up

i was just gonna make a post

50 dollars

WOW

If anyone has success getting a response from either Made Events or PVD's management, please post! Im emailing [email protected], PVD's website, and PVDs PR ppl, though they dont have anything to do with cover charge. Even if they don't lower the price, they should know we're upset about it.

I am a huge PVD fan and will probably drive 4 hours from school and pay the $50 to see him, but I'm tired of promoters shamelessly taking advantage of us

Im re-posting the letter Made sent out in the fall.

Paul van Dyk - the encore
TONIGHT, Monday, 11.4 @ ARC, Admission: $10!!

New York, New York. After a capacity performance at The Roxy on Friday, 11.1
PvD returns to Gotham for another round. This past Friday, the air inside
The Roxy was thick and wet with the perspiration of thousands of bodies
dancing. One look out onto the dancefloor and the PvD magic of yesteryear
was still to be found in the thousands of smiling faces. There's a certain
connection between PvD and his New York audience. The ones who waited 2+
hours in snow, sleet & rain at Twilo's doors every two months. The ones who
ventured to Sound Factory and then to Exit to seek out his sound this past
year. It's been four 1/2 long months since he's been in town and the
audience was hungry for the strains of his unique sound and energy-driven
tracks. A special remix of Delirium's 'Silence' and PvD classic 'For An
Angel' made for a memorable night along with a PvD special remix of Sasha's
'Wavy Gravy.' A bit of creative synergy from the world's best DJs. Paul van
Dyk rocked The Roxy for 6+ hours in grand fashion for a truly amazing night
of dancing and New York energy with PvD at the helm.

Tonight, he returns to play a charity event on arc's spectacular new sound
system. The renovations, the lights, and sound will make for an
extraordinary special night with the #4 DJ in the world (DJ Magazine -
www.djmag.com). Please join us tonight for an encore gig featuring Paul van Dyk.

i'm still going, but i think 50 is really really really too much money

do you think they jack up the price because they know we will pay it to see him???

it's a simple economics question. the club or promoters, whoever sets the price, will charge as much as people are willing to pay. the problem for us is that there are enough pvd fans such that even for $50 there'll be a high turnout. if all the people that were planning on going decided not to go because the price was too high, then they'd be forced to lower the price. but this won't happen cause there's always more people willing to pay any ridiculous price to see pvd.

You're moving to Seattle?????? Decided against Texas huh??? If you'd been a rock fan, Austin would be THE place to be butt....

In Seattle you also have Vancouver close by as well.
