and yeah, princess mononoke is damn good too

but, i've started watching noir...currently upto episode 9, but there's about 26...and have to say it's highly recommended so far

Other great ones that i have seen are Vampire Hunter D and Blood: the last Vampire (which has AMAZING animation btw)

Oh ya, for more "intelligent","high budget" type shit, check out anything by Hayao Miyazaki. Princess Mononoke is just awsome, and Spirited away. i just watched it and it is fuckin unbelievable (it just won the "Best Animated Movie" Oscar btw)

Anyways there you go, hope this helps. Anything i mentioned is gold but see Ninja Scroll, you wont be dissapointed.

Mate i couldn't agree more, best manga out there, nothing compares 2 it in my opnion. Akira was pretty cool, but nothing revloutionary.
