He is still popular cos a quiet few months doesn't make him a bad DJ, if you want that, try looking @ guys like Oakenfold whos played a lot worse for the last 2 years, this is just a couple of months for ferry, so it hardly compares.

As for the System F album, that was a quick effort made specifically for the Japanese market who like their cheesier sounding stuff, tho a couple of the tunes are good in their own right

As for Tiesto, ferry says tijs will make another gouryella tune with him one day, but is "too busy being number one" atm, that's not Ferry's fault.

Indigo is genius work, it's long yes, but its different, Ferry is producing songs in his own name that are going to be different, with guitar synths, the odd vocalist, and like Punk was also, Most fans are 100% behind him, so if you don't like it, just stick to listening to whatever makes you damp

Talking

Not bad

I am afraid to say a few of ferry's recent tracks have disappointed me. In particular Indigo, Needlejuice, and Punk. I'm just not a fan of their style.

I think his sets have been good though. And I do like ligaya.

Did you hear his set on Radio 1 today? It was off the hook! Great mixing, AMAZING tunes! If this is the new sound of Ferry, count me in

anyways, back to his producing.....

Ferry is great. So is Tiesto. What's all the comotion in here?
I didn't really like Ferry's MoS Trance Nation album. ..hm..or...ugh...one of MoS albums. I thought it was really cheesy. or was Trance nation the good album. Meh, you get the point. Overall, Ferry is great.

I've heard some of the synthlines on the newer album, and they sounded better than the ones on out of the blue. Still not Astral Projection great, but good none the less.

ferry corsten is sliding into the cheese ranks of those:

lange
dj alligator
john gielen(supertrancesuperduperhero)

I was more into Ferry's style that I'm now, and his recent productions haven't being too impressive, except for Indigo (heard it yesterday finally, killer tune!)

Posted by Magnus on Mar-31-2003 15:16:

I have to agree with wookieslut. Lately I have just not been impressed with Ferry's work. It seems he has been using cheesy synths that give his latest tracks a corny feeling to them.

coz he thinks he's the daddy.

now that you mention it i haven't liked a tune from him in a while
pocket damage - i see nothing good in that tune
my dance - nothing special
punk - got boring

the most recent one i think i've liked is solstice and thats not exactly new

that said, i've heard him dj a couple times in the past few weeks and have been impressed, and want to hear more

But.....he had produced all the tracks with someone else. Usually all of them are produced with great producers.
And i think you have to admit that he is no superman. He is a great dj. Thats why they voted him number 1. He is just not a good producer. Ask any of the big names they will tell you the same. Why is it so hard to understand that? Even i have my favorite artists and i admit if they are not perfect. This my friend i call "fanatic". A guy who is crazy for a artist so much he cant see nothing, but the good from him.
maybe you should take some english classes before you attempt to justify your splintered reasoning... So you're saying its impossible to be a good producer & dj? i say shit on that

Agreed. Can anyone say "Sasha" or "Sander Kleinenberg"?

Actually I like Indigo, it jams to me. Ligaya wasnt that good, and TBH I havent even bothered to check out subsola so I cant really comment on that. I dont think Ferry has becom boring roduction wise, to me its jus the same ol Ferry.

As for Ferry's productions, I've liked a couple of his recent ones, like Solstice, but most of the new System F stuff is too cheesy for my tastes.

I think Ferry was trying to take the Gouryella name in a new direction, a bit more sophisticated name. But seriously, even though the collaboration of Gouryella was with Tijs, how much did his sound really influence the track? From (my point of view at least) the way I hear it, it sounds definitely like a HEAVY Ferry sound (more specifically a System F sound). Listen to 'Out of the Blue' and compare it to 'Gouryella', I can definitely hear the similarities between those two... then compare 'Gouryella' to 'Sparkles' or another track produced somehwere in the same time frame... some influence, not a lot... but for the most part, Tijs and Ferry have both moved away from that sound and that's what we're hearing now a days...

btw, I like the new sounds of both producers
