yea.. its one thing to drop out of college. depending on the field, there is some possibility you could get a (semi) good job. but high school diplomas or GED's are basically a necessity. i really hope that you plan on going back and finishing it up

high school IS boring, because for the most part, you have to take stuff you dont care about. university is great, though, because (with the exception of the general classes that everyone has to take), you get to take classes you enjoy and LIKE going to.

well, maybe some. I didn't. I took a few course that were interesting, like statistics. But other than that, it was all boring computer programming, database design, systems analysis, and technical english stuff. bored me to tears really, but it was my choice, because i wanted a job that paid well after i graduated.

I could have taken interesting classes like physics, philospophy, journalism, history, maybe even art. But, then i'd be working the night shift at mcdonalds for $8(can) an hour right now.

It really depends: I like taking foreign affairs, but most teachers are plain boring and the only good thing are the books. On the other hand, I also take japanology and it's great because the teachers really know what their job is. the same goes for high school: it's not about what you study, but how you do it

theres allot of things a person can do without a degree...
like anything that requires actual talent....
basically anything artsy fartsy can do.
like producing music, djing, filming, acting, and what not.

if everyone would have finished school, and went in the direction they were pointed towards - then society would be very boring, i agree that we would'nt have as much crime and stuff, but without change - things are boring.

the only reason im still in school is to please my parents (or more likely to get them of my back), im moving to london next year (alone - without my parents) in order to start my life. and that is a major gamble.
but in life - everything is a gamble. even breathing is a gamble (bacteria, pollution & what not...)

so maybe, with some luck, you'll be better off like this.

Those kind of jobs have serious money. I'm not in your situation,but I work at UPS and go to school and some people there make a killing(one dude makes $24 an hour paid everyweek)don't even get me started on the drivers pay OMFG!!!

i just disagree here. obviously you can do things without a degree, it just limits your options severly. if you go through high school and college successfully, you will have options that someone who didn't finish high school doesnt. of course you can choose to produce music or do photography or whatever even with your degree.

as per anything that requires actual talent being derived without a degree, ...no its too obvious.

i hate to rain on the parade but i think the 'interesting elements' of society are more due to those who do have an education. the vast majority of people who do not pursue any education end up working fast food / sanitation. yea there are some lucky ones that make music people like, but that's the rare few. 'without change' implies without some people not finishing school ? please... i think you just don't know the plethora of options you have in terms of what to study at school. my school aint no cookie cutter.

so, don't reduce your options, try to stay in school.

Wow ... can't believe this many people think HS and college were boring ... seriously the best and funnest times of my life. Wait until you get out of school and start working full time ... you're in for a real shocker. It's not so much fun when dicking around means you can't pay rent or put food on the table.

ok, let me reiterate.

college can be fun and interesting if you enjoy learning. thats what i think. if you liked high school because it was fun and easy, i can see why college, because its a lot harder, might not be as fun. especially since YOU are the one who's accountable for showing up, taking tests, etc. my first quarter, i really fucked up. i skipped class all the time because i could, didnt study much (just like high school), and then was promptly kicked in the ass by my classes. college professors dont care if you make a good grade or not. they dont care if you show up. its all up to you. and if you arent motivated, i can see how that would be a challenge.

i also understand how if you are there to get a major for something you dont like, it could be boring. i guess ive just been lucky that i grew up with computers, work with computers, and want a computer science major. yes, the general university classes are boring as hell and i hate them... but i still like what im learning. i had to take geology last quarter. hated it. but i still think its neat that when i was flying to japan, i could look out my plane and recognize geologic formations, and know what they were called. im taking physics, i hate it. but i think its neat that i know why certain things work now. both were general university requirements. i like learning. and would rather be learning than starting in a low paying job right out of high school. shrug. just depends on your personality i guess, and what you want in life.
