Ste, I have just noted too why no one has replied much when its blatant that I was wanting more djs to apply for our night.

On your other offer, it sounds good, will discuss with the other promoters as I think its a good idea.

thing is, if i make a CD on my decks there will always be one or two shit mixes that dont quite work, simply becoz my decks will take it upon themselves to change pitch slightly halfway thru the mix.. and thus the person who i give the CD to will not book me, as they dont want shit mixing..

my dilema is that i know that i can play a good set on good decks, but i just cant prove it lol

tu_face, dont worry about it man, cos i know how u feel, im the same... so i dont discriminate agaisnt minor mistakes, cos no one is perfect the way i see it.

I wanted to set up a trance night as i love trance, and sick to death that other places wont let the likes of us DJ... so I feel I owe sommat and let the majority play in a club. Its gonna be ace!

Posted by Yella Fella on Apr-08-2003 18:17:

DJ at pause!!

As for the others who are replying... u should hear the majority of the mix cds i received... some were cheesy as fk!! But others were quite good, and we have had few bigger upcoming names applying. For those who want to DJ, please please speak to me and send me a mix cd or sommat so I can push for it amongst the promoters. I rather TA djs do it than others like...

Styles im interested... uplifting/melodic trance, and hard trance to possibly end the night... will cater the nights to different styles, first few initial nights, i want to test the djs to see what crowd reaction we get. And don't worry, im onto getting a digital camcorder so will be filming the events.

For the rest... if u like and love trance, check out the UK TA's djing, and for those who are against it... well...

Those who like funky house... i have set up a VIP room to cater for those who don't like it so banging...

Anyone on msn can speak to me [email protected]

Me mate Tony did them, he's a graphic designer... but i elaborated or some of the changes such as text arrangement... we have had mixed views on them. Done tons of designs... and decided that all future flyers with have the white border and EQ bars on them.

What do you think? Didn't Fraz hand you one outside GC late march? As i was there flyering that night.

yes many many many times ...but not as many as alan..theonewhoknows...jeff is trancey and sumites a bit of tech sneaks in there...but i aint heard him for a while....alan?

edit> i rekon similar to tiesto maybe????

Posted by Grandmaster T on Apr-08-2003 19:14:

Yeah defo, some kind of collaberation with the TA night in Sheff could be a good idea if we can get this going regular. We'll come support your night and poss have a chat about it then; should be a phat night. As for DJs, like Yella Fella said, you have nothing to loose by sending in a mix cd or letting us know where you play at the mo so we can check you out. Not all of the mixes we have heard from some up n commers with residencies at more established nights have been as good as some of the others.

Flyer wise, Tony is your main man, with some slight mods from our man Yella. Its still under construction but you can get Tone's and all the other contact details from www.thisthingcalleddance.com - he's a top-notch graphic design kinda guy in my book.

Oh, yeah and if you are coming on May 8th then it sounds like we had better all be ready to smile for gadget boy's new toy!

That sounds good... just hope all these ppl will apply cos its not just me agreeing for them to DJ, I have to convince my fellow promoter mates to let them... though I do have the edge...

U know of any upcoming talent in shef? I would like some local DJs to participate

Club or DJ's? Club wise, well its Bed... and yes its a lot of money... I had to get a fking loan to set the night up and the money is still ticking!

DJs wise, its based on promoting them and i can't afford to pay anyone as of yet... and a lot of djs have offered to play for free, some were begging... lol

right...i'm not similar to tiesto...but i can see where sams coming from..cos i mix styles up....exept unlike tiesto i try and add some structure and new life into things..so in that sense exact opposite of tiesto

if you were to say i was like any1 then it wouls be (i stress...A LITTLE BIT LIKE) marco v

its all good man, im looking (and push for it) to establish new styles of trance to make the night good... I really want a good atmosphere rather than a club full of drunken twats. I rather it being half full with ppl who love the music.

well i'll just keep practasing for now.....i'm at a weird stage where i can't fathom my actual talent...cos i don't have my own decks! so as u can imagine consistency is a problem (however on good decks i tend to be pretty tight these days) but autumn is a fai way off ive barely been mixing 6 months so have mad exellent progress..so in 6 more months all should be good

if i ever play at your night what i will garuntee you is not the same old recycled shite that tiesto armin and co dish out at the big clubs (cos in my opinion thats what it is...they are boring me silly these days)

Posted by Yella Fella on Apr-08-2003 19:57:

what? where the hell u mix then? lol i have like prob the best setup... i currently own 1210's, pioneer cmx3000's and djm3000's and its not bloody setup... me rooms a tip right now but im gonna get it sorted as i havent mixed for almost 2 months now. Gotta get back in the habit of things.

I say my style is more melodic/uplifting, but i do like me vocals.

The initial opening night of pause is on 08-May at bed, if u can make it down to check it out, it be good, at least u can see whether if its the kinda venue/atmosphere u want to play at. I be (if and when i get me camcorder) be filming the night so I can check it out after what the venue is like. 2nd night hopefully to be 05/12-Jun.
