yeah, it's been shaky so far. But I think once they get into the playoffs, Moose, Unit and Leiter will settle down and pitch like the great aces they are. Especially RJ...I think he's going to have a crazy September. And Chacon is a huge surprise as well...Wright is ok too. Things are looking better now than they have all year.

Granted, I'd prefer to have Clemens, Cone and Petitte back in the rotation, but these Yankees have something going for them. Or maybe it's the joy of me going to Yankee Stadium last week for the first time ever and getting totally smashed for that 5-4 win in the 9th.

i'm trying to keep low expectations of the Mets,i know if i get my hopes up they will just end up letting me down.Going to be a hell of a last month of the season,i have loved watching the oakland vs. angels series...bad ass pitching duels.
Damn this 3 day weekend i am going to be glued to the t.v...mets vs. marlins and the university of miami vs. seminoles game is monday(go canes!!!!!)

I'm Watching it now. About time the Nats god another full time short-stop (Diaz). Although Cristian Guzman has been semi-decent the past couple games....

"No team that had 5 or more rookies with at least 100 at-bats has ever made the playoffs"

Right now I am watching Braves vs. Nationals @ TBS, and when I heard that, I was like "WOW!"

Why?

... because Braves have 6 rookies with at least 100 at-bats. 16 players have made their MLB debut with the Braves this year. No wonder why their Richmond AAA team is dead last

Who knows, this stat might still stay true at the end of the season, with that tight ass division

Do you usually watch the Braves on TBS? If so, i'm really sorry, i mean i know baseball commentation is nothing exciting or anything, but these guys are seriously putting me to sleep.

they're so dull and mundane.

That was hilarious! Yes, I do watch Braves primarily on TBS. I have to admit that today the commentators are kinda quiet, usually they are more vocal with interesting stories.

Not the best commentators of baseball for sure.

Posted by Dj Smitty20 on Sep-02-2005 01:22:

TBS is amazing compared to the guys who do FSN northwest (Seattle games). Those two fuddle duds should retire already.

Honestly, I know I'm biased but I think the YES commentators are the best these days other than Joe Morgan and the bald old guy for ESPN and Joe Buck from Fox. I hate Tim McCarver with a passion. Bob Costas was really excellent...too bad NBC lost the rights to baseball awhile ago.

I actually prefer listening to a ballgame on AM radio than I do on TV.

btw nice rally by the Nats. We have a ballgame now

I see eye to eye with that statement, as for a certain football and soccer teams I root for have let me down be4 constantly..

as for baseball anouncing, the guy who said he liked Joe Buck, why? he sucks, he's just as boring as those Braves guys.
Best TV Baseball anouncers Ive heard were Vin Scully and Bob Costas, and John Miller.
Marlins had a pretty good anouncing team when it was Joe Angel and Dave O'brian.
dont remember much color commentaters but I remember when Bob Ucker would call games with Costas, those were nice.

It was a hell of a rally by the Nationals, I was very worried when they had bases loaded in the 8th, tied 7-7. Down 7-1, they came back and tied in in the 7th. Andruw Junes the hero in the 10th with a sick home run ... WHEW

As for the commentators on TBS, I enjoy their work and have no complaints at all!

Posted by Magnetonium on Sep-02-2005 13:20:

Nationals should have probably taken 3 out of 4 in that 4 game series. They outplayed the Braves: Nats had at least 10 hits in every game of the series, and their bullpen did not allow a single run until the 10th inning leadoff homerun to Andruw Jones in game 4.

Braves got lucky in this series.

Posted by Mebot on Sep-02-2005 16:02:

I have a feeling that's going to be the nature of the story the rest of the year for the Nats.. shoulda coulda woulda.

Phenomenal bullpen doesn not make up for mediocre offense...well sometimes it doesn't

Posted by jonze on Sep-03-2005 17:17:

the playoff race right now is just nuts. i think only half the spots are taken (cards, braves, padres, and white sox(as long as they dont choke)). the other four spots are up for grabs. cleveland is catching a break right now with the A's and Yanks having to play each other. and no one knows who is going to win the west between the A's and Angels. the AL playoff race is turning into a game of musical chairs, three spots and five teams trying to get them.

things in the NL look like they might be getting down to just the Astros and Phills with Florida still only a couple back and the Mets are still in striking distance.

Posted by Magnetonium on Sep-03-2005 18:16:

It's kinda early to write Braves with a pen on that playoff list. Braves have their toughest road trip coming up, with series at Mets, Phillis and Nats I think. If they will be leading after that, then you can say that!

Because then there will be 2 weeks left in a season, and at that point it will be hard to come back from even 2 games down.

Tough score to beat.

Hehe, I dont think anyone here will get question 9 right, its a very hard one.

EDIT: Seems like that Quiz this has some problems with changing results, yet same statistics and answers ... hopefully it will be fixed.

Marlins take 2 out of 3 from Mets, pretty much pleased with that

Posted by Magnetonium on Sep-05-2005 13:47:

Those Marlins are pushing it very well into a wild card spot. I am very worried though that by the end of the season they'll set themselves up so well they might take the division from Braves.

Who knows, too early to call. Phillies are still in the thick of it. But I remember at least one occassion when Marlins took the wild card away from Phillies
