I don't know. I think he makes a really good point. There is trash talking and then there is racist taunts. Passing racists taunts (serious ones anyways) as good ol trash talking and saying it's a part of the sport is nothing but complete crap and it's one of the major problems in football. Not to mention that if you need to throw racist comments just to get an advantage over the opposing team, you are a sad excuse for a player.

..and that is when all the credibility in your post went down the drain. Do your country a favour and stop defending it, you are making it worse kid.

everybody's a racist to some degree. They might not say it, but they think it. Despite what optimists might say, it's still a huge problem in the world and likely will be for some time.

Here is an interesting picture I came across on a different forum. This pic seems to be making the rounds around the web already.

Notice anything interesting about the banner?

The little cross with the circle at the bottom right of the banner is a celtic cross, which in recent times, have been used as a symbol of White Nationalist / Facism symbol (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celtic_cross). Now I thinking the player themselves either don't know the meaning of that cross in that form or they just haven't noticed but it's kinda messed up that someone would give them a banner with that. Are they trying to get them in trouble or is the "internet" reading too much into this stuff again. Interesting nontheless.

quote:
ZIDANE EXCLUSIVE: 'BRING ME THE B*LLS OF MARCO MATERAZZI' By Martin Fricker THE furious mother of Zinedine Zidane last night PRAISED her son for his disgraceful World Cup headbutt on Marco Materazzi. And Malika Zidane warned the Italian defender she wants his "b*lls chopped off for his part in the French skipper's sending off amid claims he branded her a "terrorist whore" in the ugly spat. Algerian Malika, who is recovering from an illness, claimed Zidane, 34, was simply protecting her honour when he butted Materazzi in Sunday's final. She told friends: "I am utterly disgusted by what I have heard. I praise my son for defending his family's honour. "No one should be subjected to such foul insults on or off the football pitch and I don't care if it was a World Cup Final. "I have nothing but contempt for Materazzi and, if what he said is true, then I want his balls on a platter. "Our whole family is deeply saddened that Zinedine's career should end with a red card but at least he has his honour. Some things are bigger than football." Malika spoke as it was claimed the Italian players also made jibes about Zidane's bald head. Materazzi last night admitted he insulted his French opponent but denied calling him a terrorist or abusing his family and Muslim religion. He also accused Zidane of being arrogant and treating him like dirt before he was butted in the chest. The Inter Milan star said: "I categorically did not call Zidane a terrorist and certainly didn't mention his mother. For me a mother is sacred. "I held his shirt for a few seconds, then he turned to me, jeering. He scoffed at me, looking at me with super arrogance, up and down. Then he said 'If you really want my shirt I'll give it you afterwards'. "I replied with an insult, that's true. It was the kind of insult you will hear dozens of times and just slips out." Materazzi refused to disclose what the insult was. But some reports claim the 32-year-old said to Zidane: "I'd rather take the shirt off your wife." A French football source told how Real Madrid star Zidane was ridiculed by the Italian stars over his baldness. The insider said: "Footballers can be very childish and Zizou's lack of hair was certainly a target for the bullies. "On Sunday he received the usual shouts of 'baldie' from Italian defenders. "The word never makes him happy, but it inflamed an already tense situation." Zidane was last night believed to be at his mansion on the French Riviera with his Spanish dancer wife Veronique and their sons Enzo, 12, Luca, eight, Theo, four, and six-month-old Elyaz. Fifa confirmed a probe would take place into the shocking scenes which marred Italy's triumph over France. A spokesman said: "We will open a disciplinary investigation into Zidane's conduct to clarify the circumstances." England skipper David Beckham sent a text message backing his Real team-mate. A friend said: "David knows ZZ as a man of integrity and wanted to wish him the best. They are close." Algerian president Abdelaziz Bouteflika - visiting Tony Blair - sent Zidane a letter of support. He described the player, born in Marseille after his parents emigrated from Algeria, as a "World Cup demi-god". Officials last night called for Materazzi to be punished if it was proven he hurled racist insults at Zidane. Anti-racism group Kick It Out said: "If there was a racial slur, Fifa needs to act."

Yeah guys im a huge racist when I see a black person i put on my white cape and when I see arabs I automatically think they are going to blow something up.

If you really thought I ment when I said I say racist shit to people in matches to throw them off that I will mark a black guy and say you aint gonna score today ****** then your the idiot since that is not what I do. Best example would be when I was playing against a AAU basketball team from the south when the guy I was guarding was some white dude from Georgia and I called him a hick all game and used every stereotype at him.

so all of you saying i have no credibility well for one I do now since Im the only Sports Discussion whore fighting you n00bs trying to get you to fuck off back to your lives since you know fuck all about football but we wont even go there

Could a Celtic cross with the saying "Proud to be Italian" not mean what the "internet" is reading?

If only there were "non-Italian" players in the team, we could even say it doesn't make sense but, there aren't. Besides, that cross is famous and the chances of none of them acknowledge its meaning is almost the same as Materazzi not being aware of what "terrorist" means.

I really hope none of them noticed (Or that the picture is photoshopped)

Very good point, and I agree, hopefully they didn't notice it or it's fake.

InterMilan, you're one really annoying guy, have you ever noticed? Prolly not, who would notice one's own stupidity and arrogance? no one.

Do you realize that you're not the only one who knows about soccer? put that aside, but do you also realize you're not the only one who PLAYS soccer?

So for the love of god, calm down. Having a team as a name does not give you any higher authority than anyone else.

Oh, and in case you never knew, Forums are made for discussions, there are opinions you accept, and others you dont. But attempting ridiculously to shut every person up and make yourself and others believe that you're the god of soccer is just....out of place...cuz yeh, this is a forum, not a soccer pitch.

Now thanks, and well, since u've played in so many professional tournaments and shit, why the fuck are you on the net 24/7?
being on a forum 24/7 DOES not and WILL not make you a soccer pro.

Now thnx, stfu, and calm the fuck down.

Damn, I thought your posts were total shit in the NYTA forum but after seeing your stuff here, I realized that I had totally underestimated just how shitty your posts can get.

I mean everything you type is either ego inflating garbage that doesn't serve any purpose in a DISCUSSION FORUM or is just completely incomprehensible because of the piss poor train of thought you display in all your arguments. Please stop. You're making baby jesus cry.

Italian clubs have a ton of racist fans (think Lazio). I don't think it's unthinkable that a group of those fans planted that banner, and the players didn't realise or simply didn't care to remove a small symbol. It's unfortunate, but you see tons of similar banners in Serie A games.

Its a shame. being Ireland they are quite popular.

Strangely enough, it seems to be a symbol of white nationalism in countries without Celtic heritage
