So what do you call it then ? A social gathering ?
To me 15,000 ppl jacked up on e with glowsticks dancing to edm is pretty much a rave.

I wouldn't worry about it! It's all just semantics anyway... personally, the term "rave" is something I associate with even pre-2000 times, when locations of parties were kept secret until the very last minute, when there was often no running water and no toilets because parties were in old warehouses, and when they were all ages events because there were no bouncers carding at the door! Just my 2 cents... whatever you want to call BeB, it's going to be a blast

Rave died around 1998-99.Beb is a party or a massive.
Pixiechicks post was bang on.Everything you see announced as a rave really isn't.Its like the last Woodstock.sure it has the name, but it was just used in a cheap attempt to recreate something it really couldn't.Just because Stereo had a Disco night, does that mean donna summers is on her way back to the top.Noob.Above and Beyond!!!!!!!!11111111onelevenlolololololgregfuku

Rave was more of a piece of 90's culture than a name for a party. Then the media started reporting on ecxstasy abuse and the word become misused and mainstream.

i would discredit anything that p.c. says. she is made entirely of wood. real talk. also, raves still exist, yet only in the states, ergo the anti-rave act. if it was the 'anti-massive' act, that would be unconstitutional as it would unfairly target Wal-Mart and Waffle-Haus customers. in all seriousness, raves still exist in small ass towns but they're called 'getting together with your friends to eat way too much acid and hang out in your basement'. i heard tickets are available at priape, but they're going fast. also, priape has the best man-undies in the city. my ass hasn't looked so good since i threw out my hanna-barbara undies in '86. the new smartly dressed man with have anchors and other naval paraphenalia on his drawers. real talk, encore. paix.

ps: calderone set i haven't heard but just found. domo arigato, mr. roboto

with the exception of Deep Douche, the lineup is looking pretty solid right now. I would suggest you go if you haven't been. I mean, look where you live [/QUOTE

I mean I need a name not just the one I already time and time again. I saw Rohaufer, Grodin, Deep Dish many times. Line up still blah...blah...blah...to me.

I do hear you though. We need to get rocked.. bring both Sasha and Digweed in the house room, Lawler, Trentmoller, Cattaneo, put Calderone in there, Tenaglia, Sander K, Cox and Leibing in the tech room, something to really shake it up.

Look for AVB to be booked anyday now

RAVE? Trentemoller?

Rave is ALMOST dead... if you define it as a party that goes all night, with security that simply stops fights (in the RARE instance that one occurs). Electronic music all night long. In Chicago, they have once again began throwing "underground" parties because it illegal here. Map points and all. There are a couple of promoters that are putting in serious efforts, with mixed results. There's a big "wharehouse" party in the city limits coming up...I'll report on it. I hope it goes well, and the promoters pay off whoever needs to be payed. (i.e. local police)

In regards to Bal En Blanc... I REALLY HOPE THEY BRING TRENTEMOLLER!!!!

hey yo, I remember you wrote while back about Resolution.. how was it? I thought is was good and shitty at the same time.

EDIT: you wrote that you were concerned about potential overcrowding at Resolution.

What you (erict77) wrote..

"Do we REALLY want MORE people @ the Bell Centre? I don't know how things go in Montreal, but there came a time in the Chicago "scene" when the promoters would sell WAY more tickets than they should have...and at the end of the night...the music was often times SOOO good, but people didn't enjoy the party.

Being packed into any space as tight as sardines in a can ruins any party!! It's more complicated than that, but people stoped going to the "MEGA" parties with MEGA dj's simply for that reason. It gets TOO hot, you CANT move, and you spend the night wishing the day when you got to see PVD (circa 4 an Angel) play to a 3/4 capacity club and BLOW the roof off and enjoy PLENTY of people, and a descent amount of room to dance. After years of sell out shows, now NO shows have been sold out for 2 years!! People get sick of being sardines. I blame the promoters. I hope things are run differently here. I hope the promoters don't get greedy and ruin it here too. Make it fun for everyone, and get a bigger venue next time

I hope they don't OVER SELL tickets!!! I HOPE we have room to DANCE!!!! I'm ready""Do we REALLY want MORE people @ the Bell Centre? (procrastinating)

Real talk. At decadance two years ago, lost all friends, accomplices just to replace them with angry looking asian dudes that formed tight circles around their girlfriends to shield them from the tsunami sketch that was flooding the place, a happy asian couple that gave me increasing amounts of 'thumbs up' signs the sweatier i became (this wasn't so bad), rude gym bunnies and their 'roid cattlemates that essentially pushed their way through crowds randomly, and the occasional dude just like me that was trying to weave as to not interrupt anyone but failing miserably (this is actually a fun exercise for those in the know). all this was happening within the context of being so smashed into one another that i ended up using other people's pockets to hold my loose change and not being able to discern my body parts from those around me. this, however, is not a totally toronto-type occurence. danny tenaglia last summer found me the cowed victim of sweaty pony tail whips, a totally g'd out couple essentially doing the slow-sway-and-grope directly into a crowd of kinda pissed off and really grossed out fans, and the occasional elbow to the head and/or junk (both recipient and messenger). ok ok ok, so this is bellyaching about a mere detail that only last for a couple hours per party and at least i have the opportunity to witness and experience such spectacles, right? but i think it's within everybody's best interest to switch between the socially-isolated, in-crowd, close-friend houseparty for three days striaght and the hypersocial packed sardine and witnessing sketch and/or hot boy/girl experience of being at clubs. like the yin and the yang, or the lime and the coconut, you gotta have both. too much of the former, and you end up telling jokes that only 4 people in the entire world understand and too much of the latter, you end up knowing a lot of faces and names but without anybody that's going to hold your hair back when you puke or watch 6 hours of cher movies on a rainy day. what we observe is the natural tide of socialization within groups, a weird phenomenon that occurs when, improbably, thousands of people experience the same thing and draw the same conclusions. viva the hive mind. hail the new flesh. paix.
