ahhh, I'm losing hope 'bout westbam... he's just not what he used to be. His sets are more or less boring. He constantly plays with the loops, sometimes even in whole set.. he plays often very old tracks, and it seems that he runs out of new, fresh idea for the music. And also his new production just "sucks". Serial Funk tracks are mixed up from several other tracks and they are badly boring. I'm disappointed. Looks like, that his best days are history. If I mention Westbam here in my country, maybe 5% of people would know about him...
That's my opinion and I'd like to hear also what you guys think about that? Sorry, I know I'm off topic, but unfortunately have nothing else to discuss about here.
You're right. In my country is the same situation. They know who is WestBam, but also they're saying his real music is gone. Music isn't the same as few years ago and now is only a piece of crap - stuff like this they say. I've respect to him anyway, for what his done for the history e.g. Love Parade, Mayday and all techno culture what he created. You're right again Lexi in case of Serial Funk tracks, we can hear Da Bass track in his new release or other tracks. Believe or not, but most of old tracks are known from his beats like Beatbox Rocker, Agharta, Hanging With The Machineheads. The only way to get fans back is using old, characteristic for WestBam beats. People are used to hear that beat. When they hear something different they are confused and turn off music. Why? Because if you want listen something different at all, you're listening to the different artists. I know that music is changing and every artist want fresh things in his songs. But music foundation/base just should be the same.
I don't know if someone understand from this what I wrote above. Sorry for my english guys.
No problem, I got the picture Mac. I respect him too, the most of all djs! But unfortunately, he is not what he used to be. And I'm afraid that he won't survive with playing his old famous tracks, because the people have changed and most of them have moved on to the new style of music. I hope we can expect more of him in 2010, then what he gave us this year. Better mixing performance, better music, less loops and more quality tracks. And of course, more and better his own production.
Good luck Westbam
ja...you guy's are completely right...I only listen to his EinsLiveRocker sets...the others are rubbish...Its a shame! The rocker sets are very good...well organized, with a background idea each set...makes it very nice to listen to them...but when you hear him live...its so confusing listening to him...it seems he got no concept in his set's and try to drop one big tune next to the other and the set sounds so messy...totally different to his rocker sets...I hope he will change...good luck for you westbam
but....

Well, the fact that he had to shut down "Low Spirit" could have been a chance for him to deliver a good re-start, especially after the last, dreadful Electro-Trash-Clash years 2005-2006. But no. He seems to have lost it completely: ideas, innovation, passion. The idea of playing with dubplates is certainly nice, but not for an entire DJ-Set! The tracklistings are boring as hell, and his Serial Funk tunes are, sorry, nothing but an impudence. I am really, really disappointed.
Concerning his reputation here in Germany: I think his Bass Planet Partys are still doing quite well in and around Berlin; but as someone mentioned earlier in this thread: I have the impression that the young kids do not know anything about the work and effort he put into the scene during the past two decades. Really sad.
BUT HEY: If his next tune is good, I'll be the first to buy it So, show us what you can do, Mr. Westbam. Please. We know you can.
I think you right, guys. But what about "We Bam" release? "A Classic" is not a bad track. Looks like other old Westbam's releases. "Bass Planet" is also good tune, but we know what it's a remake of Members of Mayday track "Bass Line" from single "Day X".
I think what every music producer or DJ has crisis time in his life. And I hope Westbam will return to the top with new ideas in music and mixing.
Sorry for my english, guys.
Westbam, you can!
A Classic is a good track, but still worse than his past production. The point is, that the man like westbam, with his experiences, should produce much better tracks like WeBam & Serial Funk. I bought many records like Right On, Oldschool Baby, Beatbox Rocker,... They were all something special. I played them also on parties and people somehow like them. But now wouldn't dare to play his new production, because people would fall asleep :/. I hope we can expect some better production in the future, not just remakes and mashups from 5 other tracks!
ps. I still remember his gig at Mayday 2001, when he played a special track, made of Westbam & Paul van Dyk. There was a female vocal... "west..bam....west...bam..." Since I remember, It has never been released. But anyway, did anyone actually find that track somewhere?

Yeah, that would be very nice if Paul decides to realise some of his reworks, but I`m pretty sure that will not happen. He has a lot of good his reworks/remixes.
[[ LINK REMOVED ]]
Any clues what it might be? Vocals are confusing me, it seems to be:
'i know radio, radio to go'
'i know radio, ready to go'
'i know radio, ready to flow'
Help?

I checked some her tracks and mixes too, but it seems, that without correct vocal we couldn't do anything. Hm, and it's only just that song to complete the tracklist.
