Ain't nothing but a thang... yeah there are some places that you DON'T go to in Detroit... but really, it ain't all that bad, just make sure you keep to yourself, don't bring attention to youself and and just have some common sense... i've seen scarier people IN the rave, than outside of it...

Some of the most "unique" characters you can find in Detroit can only be found by walking on foot...or by cab...

I'll NEVER forget vampire lady... "Come with me, come with me!!! I'll cook ya up somethin' REAAAAAAAAAAAAAL nice!!!! " - saying this while we're outside OUR hotel during continental breakfast

She wanted us to follow her into this scary sidestreet/sidealley that was beside the hotel that she would always pop out of, she was ALWAYS there wearing a different outfit everytime we saw her...we were dumbfounded as to where she got these new outfits and where she would change

This is gonna be the longest 30 days ever !

yeah, but for peeps that are going there for the first time, how are we supposed to know where to walk and where not to walk?

lol @ "Extended 2 hour set" for Joey Beltram.

I am most excited to spend the weekend with good friends and good music.

This will be my first DEMF - and I am excited to experience anything that has Graham as excited as he appears.

I always look forward to Adam, Marco and Carl. Carl has special place in my heart. lol.

Loco and Luciano were fun in Miami... a repeat will be fun.

I am also looking forward to discovering someone I was not familiar with prior to DEMF and having them knock my socks off.

I would just not walk too far from downtown. I think most of the after parties are close to the festival grounds, which means there will be a lot of people out and about. The exception is old miami, which you have to cab to anyways.

Last year on the first day, I got separated from my group after the festival, and got tired of unsuccessfully hailing a cab, so I walked for 25 minutes to my hotel, alone, at 1 am. It was pretty scary, but for some reason, I didn't feel unsafe... although I was relieved to see Ebony when I got to the hotel. Oh Ebony. <3

So far the afterparty list isn't that interesting. Hopefully something interesting will get announced.

i heard about the bad ventilation as well, which is definitely making me reconsider, but i haven't seen anything else interesting posted yet. and i love her. i'm playing it by ear.

as for the shooting, i figure your chances of getting shot are pretty good anywhere you go in detroit! i wouldn't necessarily think that it would happen again this year, just cos it did last year. or is this place like the jane and finch of detroit?

Oslo is small, but it's not in a bad area... it's on Woodward which is pretty decent since that is kinda the main entertainment strip...

BTW, the "jane&finch" areas of Detroit, would make "Jane & Finch" look like a playground covered in flowers!

Posted by Silky Johnson on Apr-26-2009 13:17:

Yes, someone DID get shot outside Oslo last year. RIGHT after we left, lol.

Talk about good timing.
