who actually gets to DJ at this night, or do u have contribute towards it (financially) first? where do we send the mix cds to? who decides who plays and who doesn't? is it an open party where anyone can go, or is there a fee to go in etc?

people who dj at the ukta nite are ukta's with some form of decent dj'in tallent. mix cd's arnt really needed as we pretty much know everyones ability, wicked_neo has the final say, as hes bookin the club for us, and he has a shitload more experience of dj'in in clubs than anyone else, and its a nite at a club where people pay so much � on the door to get in, if there is some profit made, id imagen (and hope) it goes back into funding furhter nites, as well as a small donation to swamper too maybee

i dont think theres any gaps in the line-up as it stands mate but we have still got to confirm the headliners.. so there may be a slot going...

but on the other hand, theres other DJ's that have already said they will be a 'reserve'.. i.e. gibbo (and i must say this now, if one of the others cant get for the night, let gibbo play.. hes wicked )

DAVE: DISCOVER OBIRABILITY, FAST! we need to get the flyers sorted asap

The original line up was never confirmed except for Kuffdam and OBir as headliners.

I am still waiting for Kuffdam to get back to me on wether He is available on that date and the same for OBir.


Dave C is a defo contender to DJ as long as He can make it to sheffield on the date.

now as far as the others are concerned, Project T and Tu_Face were also in the running.
Jeff, i seem to remember when we started this u was not all that confident but if that's changed then sure U got a slot.

The Deal With O BIR...

As you know Jon O Bir is doing very well for himself with normally at least one GIG per weekend.

I have just spoken to Kev (His Brother/Manager (of which i know personally))

He says that his DJ Agency will not bee keen to let him Dj in a "Puby/Bar" type thing.

He also said that if Jon gets a GIG offering money, he obviously cant turn it down.... Dj'in is his full time career.

Kev said he would check with Dj connections to see if they would approve of Jon playing there...

But lets face it Without Jon, the night wouldnt be half as sucessfull and definatley wouldnt attract such a crowd.

So, if dj connection approve ( as jon has said he would like to do it ) i propose that we all chip in cash to pay him. If we raise enough dollar then maybe this would help him to turn down a "proper GIG"

I also have a question about this bar, what time is it open till? Most bars shut around 12 - 1. This would be impossible really to hold a night with so many Dj's....

Jon's said he'll already do this, but if his agency find him a gig, if we all chipped in for the agency's take from a gig, and then he DJ'd for us, thats a feasable option.

and how about we jsut dont save any money and fuck dj connections.

no ofence to you or jon or owt, and i know he is a sound guy, but its not like were gonan make any money from this or have set out to make any money from it, its for the enjoyment of the night and the establishment get to take any of the proceeds from the drinks/entry for letting us have the bar for free.

i can imagine jon wouldnt mind playing there for the fun of it if he had a choice, but lets face it hes a proper profesh now, and he wont have the time, and it lets space for sum1 else to have their "big stage"

I know its all for enjoyment, but surely we want the place to be packed out so it looks good for future events...?

If you was a clubber in sheffield would you goto a specific bar to see some random "Tu_Face" "ProjectT" "DaveC" (although im called Dave Masters now! Please stop calling me C! hehe) to play? dont think i would.

if you think of the context in which the event is held you may notice that jon obir may not make a startling difference. main points being a bar on saturday night playing trance in sheffield. its not really much to do with "clubbing" as such.

no disrespect to jon or owt, but i dont think the masses of sheffield will come out to see jon obir play in a bar at some random new trance night? maybe you see it diffferently but hey, its up to neo.

aye sounds good... u guys do know i have set up this night in sheffield... "pause" to showcase trance dj talents like urself right? there is only 9 days left (or 10) and i been working my ass off to promote this night. And its not even amusing anymore, been cold, and raining etc.

All you lot are deffo invited to check out the atmoshpere etc, see what u think. I love for the support, as for the mix cd, will get on to it but bit lazy with cds I do see what you mean about getting some "more known" names to DJ, I been told that tons of times, but decided to go ahead with unknown names. Let me know if we can possibly provide a bit of help even? As I have a bit of .exp now from promoting.

The night is gonna be recorded on to vid... so will send u a copy of that if its any better? At least you can see crowd reaction from the TA DJ's djing on the night...

aye, im hoping to make it a long to this to check it out.. sounds like its gunna be cool

as for help with promotion, its the same situation as the dj's.. i think we've got most of it sorted, although with regards to flyering etc, a few plugs at ur night wont go a miss

and dave, i know ur pain.. i dont want tu_face on the line-up.. its 3-F hehe

with regards to the obir situation.. as ste said, no disrespect to jon or anything but it would be a bit unfair for us to pay one DJ and not pay the rest, and i dont think we will have the cash to pay everyone. i dont really think it will make such a difference to the crowd size tbh, as i know ill be bringing a lot of ppl, plus hopefully loads from crasher will be coming too

and also andy c is right, deffo think about him for the next night if/when it happens (although if u want stevie g to be playing with u it would only be right if he was a regular member of TA too )

The idea is to do this as cheap as possible with all the DJ's playing for free and getting the venue for free etc.
We can't afford to have to pay for Jon.
as i see it at the mo, our only expense is getting flyers printed.
The venue is free cos we dont make any money out of it, they take door money and drinks money and we provide a evenings entertainment for 3 reasons.

1: see how well a night like Add:ction would go down
2: to proove our DJ's are capable of doing it and the ppl organising it are capable of doing it
3: to give 1st time out DJ's like Luke, jeff and Dave some experience.

Then we ask for a 2nd night at the same venue, with a couple of other DJ's involved.
If we can pull that off with success then we start talking money, we wont get venues wanting to let us use them with no name DJ's if we can not proove that we are capable of sucess.

It's down to us to make this work.

This night is gonna be such a blast....Consider me there !!

we did it, in a way, with the ksg's with toby, ste & myself, we got drunk, we had music, it just wasn't in a club. better than nowt
