Canadian Women are the shit

I hate navigating through the Rogers guide to look for specific events. There's like 15 channels for Aerial skiings but none for Curling. There's a French channel showing it but I can't find it in English argh. FML

Am I the only one who thinks womens hockey should be retired from the Olympics? It's not really a tournament when you constantly beat up on a bunch of amateurs.

Either that, or just have a best of 7 between Canada and USA every 4 years.

i have been thinking that these past weeks.

there is no real competition and it is just a waste of time and resources.

some people here at work said: "but how will everyone else improve if they don't get a chance to play" but i think they get enough opportunity on the world circuit in the world cup. i mean, i wouldn't mind if in like 20 years it comes back but for now we don't need it. there are many other sports that could be included instead.

they disallowed women's ski jumping because of lack of competition but allow hockey? it's pretty lame. i am sure the ski jumper ladies' get much less chances to compete.

The problem is they don't get enough opportunity...although it's getting better. In most of the european countries hockey is still looked at as a man's game...remember it wasn't that long ago...10 years or so....that hockey was still considered a man's game in north america. There is very little money put into women's hockey and there still isn't a professional league where the best players can play. Many coaches in Europe refuse to coach women's hockey as its considered a demotion.

The only way the hockey will get better is for more elite players from europe start playing in north america in the college, university programs and in leagues here where they can get the coaching and development they need. There are some very talented women from europe but they just don't get the training and knowledge about the game from the coaching in europe. Most of the women in europe play in pick up leagues.

8 gold medals now tops our record of 7 in Turin... And by the looks of it were going to dominate the last 2 days lol

At what point are people going to backtrack on their comments earlier in the thread about our poor performance? So unless we win the whole of the medal count "own the podium" was a failure? lol So stupid.

If the Toronto Maple Leafs said they were GOING to WIN the Stanley Cup but lost in the first round of the playoffs....would that not be a failure?

The Canadian Olympic Committee said they WOULD finish on top of the medal standings...and Canada will not....FAILURE

Because the Russian men's curling team is awful and has never qualified for the Olympics, or any world championship. Ever.

The Russian women's curling team is a bit better, but they still have never beat Canada in an Olympics. I'm pretty sure Canada has never lost to Russia in a world championship either.

I am just wondering where you would have seen this.

That's like a guy getting beaten to a pulp and saying "I got in one good shot there, didn't I?"

And if the Americans had gone out on the ice and drank beer and smoked cigars after, we would've never heard the end of it.

I don't think is a total FAILURE. Canada improved compared to last olympic games, and that's something

Is like saying that the Canadian Soccer team will win the world cup, but finished just after Mexico and the US in the qualification round. What I'm trying to say here is that we need to be more realistic, not because we say we're going to get 100 medals, and we only get 90 we FAILED
