Maybe I shouldn't have eaten that black banana, but my stomach is cramping like a fucking bitch.

I'm about to go back to gym after about 2 or 3 months, all the while I've still been paying for it

I could stand to lose about 5kg.

do any of the new yorkers in this thread know of a good place to take tennis lessons over the summer relatively near manhatta? when i was at nyu we could take classes but the hours don't work for me now since they interfere with work.

Posted by Fledz on Jun-02-2009 12:21:

Just got back. Man do I feel great. Not physically really but more mentally. You just feel great when you know you've exercised and it's actually motivating me to go again on thursday.

As an added bonus, I ran into an old friend there. He's actually almost always in Alaska playing college basketball but back now for a month or so during the break. So managed to catch up with him and will most likely catch up a few more times before he heads back.

Awesome. I feel great. Oh and around 8:30-10pm when I went and plan to keep going the gym empties out as well

Do u really need lessons? Why not call up a friend and go hit the ball around and just have some fun?

maybe try central park's tennis courts.

USTA as well?

i like lessons and working with a coach. i like structure. also my friends are at all different levels, not fun to play with me if you played in college like some people i know and i don't like playing with someone who is below my level.

thanks sal, already checked but will do so again. hopefully timing works.

that i agree. i used to play a bit of tennis years ago when i was in high school (i still don't know why i quit. heh). It really depends on how a person views playing tennis. Is it for recreational fun, competitive edge, or a workout? I agree with the playing field levels. I see there are 3 different types of players:

- those who don't know how to hit the ball, and end up hitting in the opposite direction, instead of towards the body all the time.
- those who put too much air on the ball, and end up basically lobbing the ball every single time, increasing the amount of play time
- those who do know how to play, and are able to hit a ball back at a competitive pace.

unless chimera knows people who do know how to play tennis, it kinda sucks to play when the person playing against you doesn't really hit the ball back correctly. the ball could fall short, go very long, or hitting lobs nonstop. the worse part is chasing after the tennis balls when you're all out. One of these days, I'll get back to playing tennis ............

i just want to improve because now i suck and i want to do things the right way. i think it's fun and hopefully once somewhat consistent can play with people. overall a competitive person so if i'm not at least decent i'm going to mutter at myself on the other end of the court...

Omg I'm so fucking lazy. I'm totally not going to the gym today. :/

Actually, it's only because I feel and look good that I can justify not going...so w/e!

Posted by squirrelly on Jun-02-2009 18:42:

Now I feel guilty if I don't go to the gym or run around the neighborhood or at LEAST throw on a workout DVD.

plus side: I can do push ups now! And my knees have gotten to chin level

how's that left kick coming?

Posted by squirrelly on Jun-02-2009 18:52:

Still can't do it well. I keep training but my leg doesn't twist the way it should. It really is my weakness.

Posted by chach on Jun-02-2009 23:08:

haha if only the rest of us were at that stage.

i'm hoping to start my run before the sun goes down

Posted by Silky Johnson on Jun-02-2009 23:21:

Heh yeah...I've actually lost weight since Detroit. Could stand to put a couple pounds back on. I'm at the point now where I lose shape from my ass/hips/thighs when I drop weight, and I don't need to look any more like a 14 year old boy than I already do.

Posted by Silky Johnson on Jun-02-2009 23:22:

See above post.

edit: I haven't been eating as much either. Last week was a total write off. Went grocery shopping last night and stocked my fridge/cupboards. Felt good today to have proper meals the way I'm used to.

i do my gym at 5 am now before work.. its a bit rougher but i have the rest of the day to do other things

Posted by Silky Johnson on Jun-02-2009 23:28:

Yeah I think the earliest I ever go to the gym is 9am-ish. Hate it initially...but then I feel amazing/energized for the rest of the day and yeah, have the whole day free after.
