They got many tunes keyed there. Very good website made by a gr8 person here called qualia.(not sure if i spelt his nick correctly)
The site is really helpful if ur looking for keyed tracks.

Both mix PERFECLY into each other, especially if you start mixing in Alive after the first breakdown at the beginning of interstate, you get a really uplifting mix..very nice!!
hey nem; was reading \"how to DJ properly\" last night, and he mentions for a good harmonic mix you can -5 on the camelot system. is there any reason you didnt include the -5 in your +4/-3 advice?

It's a key lift not a harmoninc. Nothing wrong with it but you can't play those two choons at the same time and have it sound good.

Yup it still lives, although these days it tends to be people asking the same questions that were asked originally. Although that's not a problem. Actually is quite cool to see so many have embraced the idea.

i wanted to let you all know i've continued my work on [[ LINK REMOVED ]]
, and it has come a long way. in fact, you can now add and edit song information over the web--so for those of you who don't use the software but want to contribute you can. there have been over 400 users and more than 140,000 songs submitted already with key and bpm information! so if you haven't check it out come join, if you like this thread you're guaranteed to find it useful...
I went to mixshare.com and the site is awesome. I have a question though i downloaded that program you guys have for the keying of songs but i don't think i have java. the readme says where to get it but how do i know which version of the java i need. there is one thats like 15 megs and other thats 200 kb. This is not my computer so thats why i am a little cautious about downloading these programs. Also is harmonic mixer for a genre like hip hop even worth it. Also what does it mean when a key read like this

most any version of java will work. i would recommend 1.4 or higher. i wouldn't be wary of installing it either, as i have never heard of it causing problems.
i spin some instrumental hip hop and knowledge of keys helps... its always fun to slice up phrases which are in key to make new rhythms and melodies :-)
if you're just learning about all the theory i'd read the tutorial on the site, it will explain a lot. the key code might be simpler to understand, but it in the case you pointed out, C#m and Dbm refer to the same key. it so happens you can enter and ending key in the software in case a song changes key. looks like whoever added the song filled in the end key and start key the same (which is unnecessary and redundant). i'll probably fix the server so it doesn't display like that, so as not to confuse people.. hehe

anything with two keys is coz theyre slower than most of my tunes and are pitched up a lot.

i just had a quick check, and its either an 11B or an 8A. i cant tell tbh. stupid muddy recording that it is. but yeah, ill go for the minor, thanks.
I've been working on mixing harmonically the past couple months and its been a godsend.
I'm still rusty when it comes to determining major and minor, but I think I'll get the hang of it soon enough.

Can someone help me clarify something.
Am I correct in assuming that to "mix harmonically", you need something that can change tempo only and not key? Otherwise, if the BPM's aren't the same, don't you end up changing the key of the song when you change it's speed?
deam,
having a feature such as key/pitch lock, which allows you to change the bpm and not the key, is definitely helpful in harmonic mixing, but certainly not necessary. you just need to be aware that a +/- 6% shift in speed is roughly a half step above/below the original key. anything in between might sound a little sour, but the most important thing is the relative the pitch to the song you're mixing in.
this is why software such as rapid evolution ([[ LINK REMOVED ]]
) is so useful. once you enter your songs with bpm and key information, it can tell you for any given song which songs can be made in key, how to make them in key, and just how much they are in key (which depends on a lot of variables). with certain songs you will want key lock enabled obviously, but with some songs its actually necessary to shift the pitch up or down to get them in key. some songs can only be made in key by key locking one and playing it a certain speed...
in short, to determine if 2 songs can be made in key you need to know the key AND bpms of each song, and their relative differences. a key lock feature is nice because you will always be dead on key, and will never have sour sounding mixes that are in between or slightly off key. its also nice with key lock on because when you change the speed suddenly you don't hear an audible change in pitch. however, always leaving key lock on will prevent you from making many songs in key...

99.9% of trance is in minor keys. so if you know that its say G, then its very likely to be G minor. Listen for the chords round about it, consult the chat with which keys go with which, as its the same for chords. For example, the difference between G major and minor is the Bb or B note, look for it.
Key lock is great, but can sometimes sound wonky. I have stanton st150 (I think!!)and the key lock is not great, I hardly use it. I'm told that its better than that on the Numark tho! The tunes can sound time stretched, and thebeats sem to phase or jump around, which is annoying and can sound like your mix is off.
The CDJ's tho have excellent key lock and i use it all the time
