I use all of those, to be honest! I was following the auctions that ThaMaestro posted about a few weeks back in this thread, and started looking into various electro and italo-disco artists and labels from the 80s. That's how I ended up finding a cheap copy of "Voice Of Q", spent about $30 shipped for a minty-fresh copy!

interesting . whats the rarest/most sought after record you got, waxHead? and whats your favourite record (if u can name 1) that you got?

by the way, i own this record; http://www.discogs.com/release/25042. can u tel me if its (quite or at least a bit) rare?
and whats the difference of the Born Slippy release i just mentioned with this one; http://cgi.ebay.nl/Underworld-Born-...1QQcmdZViewItem ??? i cant find the one from the eBay link on discogs. it has the same picture sleeve of some agricultural machine as the one from the discogs-link with 45 wants, but they differ.

Hmm... the rarest or most-sought after record I own? It all depends... I have an original acetate of Airtight's "Sealed" from Dave Ralph's Tranceport 2 (http://www.discogs.com/release/78022), which will likely never be released. It seems that Ralph did this track solely for this release, and it's never appeared in full anywhere else. I also have this Mo'Wax record by Digital Dubz, which apparently only had 10 copies pressed, easily making it one of the rarest records I own... if it's true. The Digital Dubz record is fairly sought-after by Mo'Wax collectors, but a few other releases, such as DJ Tiesto's Battleship Grey 12" with the Miro remix (thanks Keith!), the original white label of Tilt's Human mix of "Invisible" (thanks Keith!) and the original Audio Therapy 12"s are more wanted (by Discogs standards) than the Mo'Wax record or the acetate.

My favorite record? That's a MUCH more difficult question to answer! It really depends on the mood I'm in, but here's a couple of my favorites:

Talisman & Hudson - Leaving Planet Earth / Distant Shores
2-X-Treme - X-Treme Theme / That Piano Track
Chapterhouse retranslated by Global Communication - Pentamerous Metamorphosis
Jamie Principle - Waiting On My Angel
Rabbit In The Moon - Out Of Body Experience
Boards of Canada - Hi Scores
P. Lion - Burn In His Hands
EMF - They're Here (D:Ream Dream remix)
DJ Shadow - What Does Your Soul Look Like?
Jon Vesta - Gull

I could go on for quite a while, I try not to buy records I don't like

Not sure about the Born Slippy 12", the one with the Discogs link looks fairly rare. I haven't looked much into specific Underworld releases, maybe you could win it and let us know

thnx for the nice reply
its too late now for the underworld record. it just ended, sold for some 4,20 GBP if im right.

by the way, you should submit that Airtight acetate. i'm curious about what will happen to the stats of that record, especially the wants. or have you never submitted it on purpose, for some reason(s)?

it didnt mean nearly as much to me as it did to him...

Posted by DaanMc on Nov-12-2006 22:07:

I see.

Finally I've found an unplayed copy of Battleship Grey

I think it's my rarest record up till now together with my two Lexicon 4 - Reach Me's

Yep, Discogs rules state that you're not allowed to submit acetates.

Oh yeah, I love tracks from every genre of electronic music
Like the Discogs comment says about the 2-X-Treme release, these are easily some of the best hardcore tracks ever made, and I'd be surprised if anyone who listens to electronic music DIDN'T like them!

Do you have any particular favorites?

So where'd you find an unplayed copy of Battleship Grey? And how much did it cost you (if you don't mind my asking)?!

Posted by DaanMc on Nov-12-2006 22:43:

I looked on Discogs and I saw there was a new person who had it.

I emailed him with an offer of 35 pounds. He said is was okay
It was 100% unplayed because there was not yet a hole on the sticker on the record. (If you now what I mean. Look on the picture of it on Discogs )

The guy I've bought it from has a site where he's selling a lot of records. He's selling them at http://www.dancemusicrecords.co.uk (Maybe he's selling more rare records on that site, I don't know. You do know much more about it so have a look His Discogs is: http://www.discogs.com/user/dmusict )

When I've paid, I looked on that site an Battleship Grey was listed there for only 9,99 GBP. I emailed him and asked him if I could buy it for that price He said that is was a mistake and he will never sell it for that price, which is kinda logical.

Finally, I'm just happy that I've found it after 2 years of searching and I think that 35 pound is a good price for it

That is a pretty good deal, congrats on the find Daan!

I just picked this up for $18.50 USD shipped:

http://www.discogs.com/release/57899

Nice deal Great record!!

I'm also selling that one via Ebay. Look at http://search.ebay.nl/_W0QQsassZdaanmcQQhtZ-1

I'm afraid all records will be sold for cheap. Too bad.

Btw, a second copy of Battleship Grey is on its way

That guy had two copies, or did you find another somewhere else?

Yes from the same guy, he had two copies. This one I got a little cheaper..

I'd hope you got it a bit cheaper, 35 pounds is a lot to spend on one record. Glad you didn't have to get two at twice the price

Posted by DaanMc on Nov-13-2006 16:09:

I got it now for 35 pounds included chipping. So 30 pounds for the record.

I know it's a lot of money, but I've searched it for so long

What is the maximum you will pay for a record? I know you're always looking for bargains But do you also buy records for big money? Or did you used to?

A few years ago, I didn't have any problem spending more on records ($40+ USD for a record + shipping costs). Now, I don't usually pay more than $20 USD, though it depends on the release. I'll pay more if something is incredibly hard to find and wanted by lots of people, otherwise I just don't bother.

EDIT:

Besides, I have quite a few duplicates of some extremely rare records, so I'd prefer to trade rather than buy. What's the point of spending money, when both people can win out with rare tunes?
