I dunno. It seems that a lot of teams got underestimated and you never know. Like how Bulls delivered a spanking to the Heat
Even the Suns have a few off days.

Calderon was on FIRE before his injury...here's hoping he's ok, and/or TJ is ok, because without BOTH of them, the Raps are fucked

Yeah. IMO Calderon ran a better offence than Ford...

DAMN ! Dallas saves itself!

GS does not seem to do good under pressure when it comes down to the wire. And Nice to see Dirk finally bring out his A game in the last 5 minutes of the game

Posted by slingshot on May-02-2007 05:53:

The Raps got lucky today. They played an excellent first half playing their brand of basketball. As soon as the second half rolled around they went right back into the gutter....no ball movement, standing around on offense...it was pitiful. They were so lucky that they shot a high percentage and caught some breaks this game. Also, the fact that Jersey wasn't hitting the shots that they normally hit helped big time. Jersey totally outplayed the Raps second half.

Bargnani was on fire the first half and they ran no plays for him and barely made an attempt to get him involved in the offense in the 2nd half of the game......ffs. Off the ball player movement, quick clean passing into the post than back out to the perimeter and around. They have been doing it for the latter half of the year hence their success. Playoffs roll around and it's as if they forgot everything they learned about how to play as a team and win basketball games....

Anthony Parker hitting extremely tough contested shots and Jose finding a way to get to the net so often is definately not going to win them this seris. Without Parker this team would be getting trounced every game and they'd already be booking their tee times.

(can anyone see 4 years of Raptor frustration coming out right now?)

You can thank Mr. Coach of the Year for that one. By the end of the first half I checked Bargnani's career highs cause he was just on fire in the first half. He had 17pts and his career high is 23. I'm like "well, looks like he's gonna shatter that record".

I think he only got 1 or 2 more baskets throughout the rest of the game. Fucking BS.

And I agree with everything else you've said. I can't fathom how these guys just can't get going. Sure, you gotta give NJ some credit for their good defense which restricts our ball movement, but that's something you can remedy. Eg. Give it to Bosh, pull a double-team, pass it back out, then quickly move the ball around the court while the defense scrambles back to it's positions.

There really isn't one person to blame here though. The whole team is just out of sync.

edit

One other thing I forgot to mention. I've noticed a lot of supposed Raptor "fans" (not necessarily here) that are throwing in the towel and giving up on the team and going back to the "well, the Raptors suck again" mentality. In reality, this team has overachieved probably three times over. They tied a franchise record for wins, set a new home record, placed 3rd in the East, won the Atlantic. Not a single person could've predicted that kind of success for such a new team. This is all just bonus material right now. Year 2 of the "Colangelo Legacy" will be even better.

the bosh/bargnani/calderon trio is a solid foundation to build upon

Posted by Sly_Guy on May-02-2007 12:36:

last night's game was definitely the one to go to of all the ones in the series thus far. I swear Richard Jefferson hates me now. And well, Vince does too. And probably the refs as well. I never want to sit father than courtside again.

But Bargnani and AP were shooting lights out in the first half. Why did neither one see the ball in the second half?

In any event, it's nice to see the raptors play some sort of offensive game again. Leaves at least some slim hope for bringing it to 7 games.

hah I'm just taking the piss, personally the more bandwagoners the better. It all adds to the team.

That Dallas/ Golden State game was unbelievable. Either of those two teams could easily run over Toronto. lol I hate Mark Cuban, and Dirk hahah, I was cheering for Dallas.

Yeah that game was great.. What a shoot out. I was pissed Dallas won.

Fuckin Dirk finally starts playing clutch in the last 3 minutes of the game...with that block and back to back 3 pointers...

Also seems like GS is not very good under pressure...

Final note: Dallas is done next game!

Why the Lakers hate? Not a Kobe fan I'm guessing?

Oh, and...

Posted by jon jon on May-04-2007 12:22:

I love everything about Golden State and hated everything about Dallas! I'm so glad that series went the way it did.

I'm nervous about tonight...

Was a life long Laker fan until they gave Shaq away to please Kobe
Will never cheer for them again until that fuck is gone.

As for tonight, as much as i want TO to pull it off, not looking good (obv)
I hope no one forgets that if they lose, they still had a VERY GOOD season...
No finger-pointing, name-calling, or pleas for Mitchell to be fired.
PLEASE leave the Leaf mentality out of this and be REASONABLE

Do you think Kobe is pleased right now?

Anyone looking for a place to watch the game tonight, Global Village will have it on the big screen for tip-off at 8pm.

what is there to hate about dallas? the way they played throughout the regular season was incredible...it was one of the best seasons had by any team ever. you just hate cuban don't you...

Posted by jon jon on May-04-2007 15:24:

Yeah, Cuban is such a nerd on a power trip. I actually think I hate Dirk more tho, so WHITE and boring. I just find them so arrogant (fine, you can be with the best record of the season) but they lack soul. And that proved evident last night, the Warriors were all passion with nothing to lose.

Perspective is EVERYTHING. Who would you rather be? Mavs with amazing season but go out (embarassingly) in first round (only to have it haunt you all summer), or Warriors who squeaked into first round yet come out as heroes. lol

IMO the season is overated, it's all warmup to when the game gets real.

i agree with you on this. the mavs season is definately tarnished by their lacklustre playoff performance. t'is a shame really.

Considering the percentage of eight seeds against one seeds in the playoffs, this statement is totally bogus. Teams play their hearts out in the regular season to earn home court advantage for a reason - the home team has an advantage, period.

This series was unique in so many ways and was also the biggest upset in NBA playoff history.
But if you look at the direction the teams were heading going into the post season it's not that surprising.

Golden State were (9-1) in their last ten, Dallas was (6-4).
The Warriors went undefeated against the Mavericks in the regular season (3-0).

Maybe what you meant was 'regular season records' are over rated, which if that's the case, I agree.
But you can't overlook the importance of home-court in the playoffs because of this series alone.

Posted by jon jon on May-04-2007 16:08:

well, I said it was "warmup" to the post season and that it was overrated. Not that it was null and void, of course it's still important.

Posted by SPANIARD on May-04-2007 17:31:

Word on the street is that Ford and Calderon are both injured for tonight... seems like Jon Jon is gonna have to show his hops.
