Wait a second, two years ago, the nuggets were on one of their hot streaks and the spurs still beat them. I think they will give us a run for our money, but the spurs should be alright.

Sorry, I havent been here for a while

I miss you guys though!

I think we all know why the Supersonics are moving:

we can all thank danny!

Wouldn't that be Kobe's shlong then?

indeed. Speaking of which, the Suns are about to come back and beat the Kobes.

On another note, Andres Nocioni is the best player in the NBA (yes, hyperbole).

Posted by LeopoldStotch on Apr-23-2007 04:35:

ohoh. should we get worried? nuggets and warriors pull upsets against spurs and mavs, 2 favorites to reach the finals. i know these 2 matches are going to be a big doozy, but the main question is how dallas ONLY scored 85 points against the warriors AT dallas ? that is shocking.

Posted by Isolator on Apr-23-2007 05:08:

That was a perfect day of playoff basketball... I know it's early, but the Nuggets just might make it out of the first round this year.

Phoenix has been the team to beat all along in my opinion. Based on their whole year, not yesterday - because let's face it, who COULDN'T beat the Lakers right now?

Posted by Member of X on Apr-23-2007 06:34:

God that was an awesome outcome for the games today. Both the Mavs and Spurzzz lost, just what I'm hoping for. Although my faith for either one to lose is minimal. And the Suns beat the Fakers. Cavs won too. An overall great day. woo hoo

Go Suns!
Go Nuggets!
Go Warriors!
Go Cavs!

Posted by shaw on Apr-23-2007 08:31:

The Bulls look like they really can take down Miami. They simply cannot do anything about Deng & Gordon, and if Heinrich hadn't gotten hit with 4 fouls in about 10 minutes of playing time, it might have been a lot easier.

Even Ben Wallace can't keep Shaq under wraps, though, except by taking charges repeatedly & getting him in foul trouble. I'm just hoping they take care of business while they're at home, 'cuz they won't get a lot of those calls on the road.

Nuggets are dangerous because of Iverson/Melo, and also Nene seems to be coming into his own as a player FINALLY...

That being said, with the 7 game series, I dont think they will be able to upset the Spurs...

The Mavs played like complete ass yesterday, I expect a game 2 blowout, as they will be playing with a chip on their shoulders.

bob hill got fired, sonics are lookin for new coach. gonna be a crazy year for the team with the draft, rashard's future, new coach, the future of franchise, etc. the list goes on.

on a playoff note, i hate the suns.

Posted by LeopoldStotch on Apr-25-2007 03:27:

looking at the sonics, they look like the new orleans hornets between the paul silas and byron scott era. i wouldn't be surprised the sonics go cheap, and pick up some coach scrub to finish out the year. when tim floyd was coaching the hornets, that was 1 horrible year for us.

Posted by Member of X on Apr-25-2007 03:31:

Rashard Lewis needs to rejoin his old coach in Portland. Then it's on like Donkey Kong. Haha

I hate the Fakers first and foremost. That goes without question. I enjoy the Suns and the style of ball they play. Vernon and I will be at the game on Sunday for game 4 if there's a game 4 that is. Upper deck. After we checkout a Padres game on Saturday. Hanging with the Filipino!

Hate the Mavs of course just because of Rockabye. That's probably the only reason. And Dirk likes David Hassellhoff which is just weird.

Hate the Spurzzz of course because of the Tin Man Duncan along with the rest of the snooze crew.

I also love the underdogs like the Warriors.

Hate the Pistons too because they are boring and RaWEED Wallace is a jack ass.

Posted by verndogs on Apr-25-2007 06:33:

i just came back from game 2 of the suns-lakers series

wow...phoenix kept schooling the lakers over and over and over and over

barbosa is nuts

Posted by fmodena369 on Apr-25-2007 07:48:

the series was over before they even announced the 2-7 seeds for playoffs

Posted by shaw on Apr-25-2007 09:25:

leik srsly. That was one of the most BRUTAL defeats I've seen in a long time. I didn't see the game Houston won by 50 earlier this year, but tonight's game was just ridiculous. The best part was seeing Kobe look like he wanted to kill Kwame Brown . Boy, do I hate Kobe.

In other news, as noted yesterday:

53 points for the two of them tonight. Utter destruction. Not Nash/Barbosa destruction, but those two are such horrendous match-ups for Miami. They just don't have anybody who can cover either one of them--especially Luol Deng. Unless they both start cooling off dramatically (Deng's only really started getting hot lately, but Gordon's basically been on fire since the end of last year), Miami's le screwed. I just don't see how they can defend the two of them--especially since they have to put Wade on Deng, which is a joke.

how can you hate kobe? cuz he's too good? cuz he's the best offensive player ever 2 play the game...yea he's better than jordan (stop living in the past)!! KOBE+GARNETT=championship next year

Does crack taste good?

Silliest comment I've ever seen on TA. Surpases your earlier comment. Sorry man, your credibility is shot.

Scoring points doesn't equate to best offensive player. There is other aspects of the game like passing. Plus, if we're strictly talking scoring Jordan averaged 37 pts a game one year. The Rapist never matched that.

Most people like me hate the Rapist because he's an arrogant rapist. He has the morality of a douche bag.

His Airness 6 championships. The rapist 3 (and zero without Shaq).

Posted by Kapedano on Apr-25-2007 19:58:

I love the Suns, but please, can someone play defense against them? You see guys running there like they are playing with a bunch of middle schoolers. A little more defense from the Lakers, and the series would be worth to watch.

haha my credibility is shot because I KNOW basketball and go out on a limb and say something not many ppl agree with?? Why do I think KOBE BRYANT is the best OFFENSIVE player every 2 play? HERE WE GO

1) I dont remember any 7 footers that play like shooting guards back in jordans days (Nowitzki,Wallace)? 7 footers that are freakish athletes that can jump on top of the hoop (Amare, D-Howard, Garnett, J-Oneal)?
2) Who were Jordans defenders when he was playing? I cant even think of 1 Shooting Guard that is even CLOSE to the caliber to the likes of hmm lets think here...LEBRON, WADE, MELO, did Jordan have to guard players like those, no KOBE does. Jordan averaged 37.1 points in 1986-87, take a guess who was all defensive team for guards that year? Done thinking....Alvin Robertson and Dennis Johnson? Those players as good as the Shooting guards 2day?
3)Jordan was surrounded by one of if not THE BEST supporting cast, players that played because they KNEW their role in each game, provide Jordan with defense and score when needed. Does Kobe have that now? Smush is a GREAT point guard who looks to pass first..uh yea right. biggest #1 draft pick EVER kwame brown..all he does is try to show ppl he was worthy of the #1 pick..which will NEVER HAPPEN!!! lamar odom is a scrub and is NO scottie pippen (top 50 greatest players) and would've been much better individual player if he hadn't of played with Jordan, believe that! Sasha the new Steve Kerr..i dont think so? Ronny Turiaf the new Dennis Rodman..not enough hustle..u see a pattern here????
4) Western Conference vs Eastern Conference...DAMN that's hard to choose!
5)KOBE 81 pts and didnt even play the entire 4th? His RIDICULOUS 50+ points streak, only Wilt has accomplished more, scoring at least 50 seven straight times. Where's MJ in that discussion?
6) LOL at shaq and kobe comparison...yea kobe won with shaq and shaq one with kobe...shaq also won with the HEAT..and he carried his old body through the ENTIRE playoffs...DWYANE WADE..so SHAQ will NEVER win a championship on his own JUST LIKE KOBE!!!!
7)You put Kobe Bryant in 1986-1987 with the skills he posssess today, he EASILY could've matched jordans 37.1 pts per game. He could fuckin do it this god damn year if lakers were in the EAST, give me a break!
8)Kobe and Phil Jackson go into every game knowing they have absolutely NO supporting cast, filled with selfish players that dont play their ROLE! I don't remember hearing any of Jordans players going on a snowboarding trip during the all star game...injuring himself for 2 months and LYING to the team about it! "He admitted last week he lied to the Lakers when he said he fell on a patch of ice. He apologized to coach Phil Jackson and general manager Mitch Kupchak."
9) Kobe "the Raper"...hmmm go 2 the MOST ATTRACTIVE females in a bar 2nite..ask them if they'd sleep with KOBE BRYANT, what would their response be? There response would be the same as that dumb bitch in colorado, "OMG WHERE AND WHEN!?!?"
10)KOBE is playing against all odds, he's 2 selfish, he's a cheater, elbows too much, not a team player, shoots 2 much, shoots not enough, passes 2 much...needs 2 stop passing and shoot more..what do critics of kobe want him 2 fuckin do!? Give him players that Jordan was surrounded by back in the day and he'd also have 6 fuckin rings!
11)YES you are right about offense including assists...well lets take last nites game...how many shots did kobe take? 13!!!! what was final score 126-98, how many lakers missed WIDE open shots because every single SUNS players attention was on KOBE..there were PLENTY of missed shots, even tho kobe did all he could 2 get them open shots. Sorry no steve kerr sharpshooting, ron harper mid range game, scottie pippens all around superb game, and the hustle of rodman and rebounding and clogging the lane of longley. Game 1 of suns vs lakers...15/33 for 39 points, carrying the entire team on his back throughout the 1st half...sorry he cant do it the entire fuckin game give him sum help..o wait his supporting cast CANT!!! He scores they lose by 8. If kobe passes the ball to an open man 20 times in a game...does that mean he's going to get 20 assists...maybe if your playing on a team like the suns...not the lakers

I know not many people are going to agree with me and that's fine, this was a way to show my view and my knowledge of these 2 players, now lets have the debate live on!

Posted by medinaM5 on Apr-25-2007 23:17:

^dont think an ESPN anchor could have put it better. but i'll add in my 2 cents as well. Kobe is an NBA freak of nature. At 27, he has already won three NBA championships, not many players can say that. And this jordan vs. kobe tripe? give me a break. The scary thing is that Kobe is barely nearing his prime. To put his game in perspective all you have to do is look at Jordans performance against Cleveland in 1990. Jordan, also 27 at the time, scored 69 points but needed overtime to secure the win. Kobe, 27, dropped 81 like it was just another day. After that bullshit "rape" case, he was left for dead by the media and fans. But his mentality brought him back to life. He is by far the hardest working athlete in the NBA since Jordan. You have to admire his perseverance. Let the haters hate, and we're talkin about an individual player here, not who's team is better. like it or not, kobe is the best.
