Think I'm going to the island today, but if not speed workout and push exercises tonight.

Posted by tubularbills on Jun-19-2009 19:36:

my legs just felt like shit today. i ran just over a mile and a half and walked about half a mile. just didn't feel like it today. couldn't get out many pullups or pushups either. i think this is due to the mood that was kind of underlying around work. funny how people's actions can affect you.

i was just thinking about how that works out, tubularbills. the other day i was having a GREAT workout, and then these two kids came in and started dicking around. eventually they started bouncing a 20lb medicine ball around. i got pegged in the leg while doing standing shoulder presses with dumbells, so i dropped my weights, picked up the ball and yelled at them and pointed them out to the management. that totally ruined my flow and i couldnt even work out after that - i left 10 minutes or so later because i was furious

yup - its true man. my boss was really bummed out today...he's leaving for a different job on Monday; and doesn't really want it (or at least, didn't want it so short notice). i could tell he was trying not to show it; but he was really un-focused and just all around down. definitely rubbed off on me and affected my workout.

I just bought a bowflex. I have no idea why

Posted by Silky Johnson on Jun-20-2009 15:41:

I'm doing 140 on the leg press now.

Everything else remains the same. Those 2 weeks off really fucked me. Lost quite a bit of strength in my upper body.

Posted by Silky Johnson on Jun-20-2009 15:46:

OH, lol...

A girl that I see at the gym all the time that I can't stand was at the bar last night. She came up to me and asked "You work out at the Georgian Gym, right??"

"Yeah..."

"I thought so...I stare at you all the time, you have an amazing body."

Like, how the fuck am I supposed to hate this bitch now?? SHIT.

Posted by Renzo on Jun-20-2009 15:49:

You can't stand her but you don't know her? Girls

Posted by Silky Johnson on Jun-20-2009 15:51:

I know her from school, actually. She's a fucking obnoxious twat.

No, I don't know her personally...but the way she carries on around campus is enough for me to know I don't fucking like her, lol.

Posted by Renzo on Jun-20-2009 15:54:

Well, that's all irrelevant now. She loves you. omgsleepover <3

I'm getting close to my desired weight finally. Keep in mind that I have perma-thirteen-year-old-itis.

I'm now at 120lbs and benching 175lb at 2 reps. I can also squat a little over double my weight.

About to go to ze gym again, and it's chest/back day which is always my favorite. \o/

I'd been plateau'd at 115 for a while (about 6-7 months) while maxing at 175 on bench but doing reps at 165 and now I'm finally slowly going up again so I'm pretty stoked. oooof

such an attention whore

Posted by Silky Johnson on Jun-20-2009 16:21:

Yeah sure, I guess.

Posted by KiNeTiC ENeRgY on Jun-20-2009 17:01:

off to the gym now....time to obliterate shoulders and biceps

Posted by chimera66 on Jun-20-2009 18:07:

"stare at you all the time" that sounds kinda creepy.

Posted by Silky Johnson on Jun-20-2009 18:27:

Yeah she may not have said stare. It was something along the lines of her always looking at me, or watching me, or something else like that.

I think why I'm surprised by the compliment, coming from her, is because she walks around everywhere like her shit doesn't stink. Can tell she's very high on herself, cause she's always doing shit to attract attention.

Posted by chimera66 on Jun-20-2009 18:38:

those damn attention whores

Posted by skell on Jun-22-2009 17:37:

Glad I found this thread (again). Definitely going to come out of c0r lurking and post here on a more frequent basis. I've been doing serious strength training for 6+ weeks now and am quite happy with the results I am seeing with my body!

Yesterday's workout: HIIT sprinting - 7 sets of 30 second sprints followed by 90 second cool-downs.

Today it's back to the gym for upper body. Can't wait!

You can pull the bar down in front of you (to your chin) or behind your head until it touches the back of your neck. At least, that's what we did when I used to use machines.

ah ha good to know, i touch the bar to the back of my neck but i seem to be the ONLY person who does it that way plus the machine says "could cause injury" doing it that way but that sounds like BS to me. thanks!

I think that is a horrible form tbh. Only thing I do behind my neck is sraight bar shoulder presses. Pull down seems to fuck with the spine much more than it should be.

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Jun-25-2009 01:54:

Yeah, I just Googled behind the head lat pulldowns and the general consensus is "Fuck, don't!"

I never injured myself doing them though, and neither did any of my friends. I wouldn't worry about it too much, because they still work your lats fine. Their only problem is a higher risk of injury.

Posted by chimera66 on Jun-25-2009 01:59:

well damn it, i guess i'll try switching on friday. i just started doing these again today but used to do it all the time going behind the neck and i was fine. i have noticed though that nobody does it my way, i guess there is a valid reason.

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Jun-25-2009 02:04:

We used to do both. My friends found it harder behind the head, but I actually found it slightly easier.

That was back when I was a complete workout newbie, just taking what my more experienced friends said as gospel.
