because having discussions about music and finding out the reason why someone didnt enjoy a perticular set or what their expectations were of a certain dj is something what a review thread is / should be about.

I thought this was one of my favourite nights at guv ever.

The set up in the Kool Haus was for sure the best...those light screens are absolutely top notch, and I liked the huge chandelier like structures thoughout the room.
And for once the guv complex knew how to manage a lineup, no problems at all.
I love these big events where everyone makes it out, makes for an unmatchable vibe, friendly faces everywhere!
As for the tunes, I thought Mark Oliver's set was one of the best I had ever heard from him...
played all my current house favs.

As for Gabriel, I was a little dissapointed...found it a bit slow and overly proggy, but then again it was very early in the night, but it was still pretty good. A nice surprise to hear as the rush comes.

Oakey impressed me very much, even though he officially looks like shit now. After being unimpressed the last time I saw him so much so that I didn't want to see him for a while, his set last night was great.

As for Armin, everyone knows I'm a huge Armin fan and nothing about last night is going to change that. He impressed me like he always does. I thought his starting was very strong, there was a bit of a lull in the middle, but he picked it up again at the end, and towards the ending got stronger and stronger.

If I were to complain about something it would be that I am a big fan of thowing in a few random mega classics, particularly towards the end, which he didn't really do, and which I would have preferred to burned with desire and sail, which are good tracks, but I think belong earlier in the set.

Having said that Armin pushing it to 916 in the morning brought the whole night up an extra notch and was what really impressed me about the night. For at least an hour I was convinced that the track he was playing at that moment had to be the last one, and he just kept going and going.
My highlight of the night was for sure having Armin play my favourite track right now Thomas Bronzwear-Shadow world!
Fucking incredible.

The only other track that we remembered that hasn't been mentioned yet was the new remix of Enmass -CQ that is sooo dirty.

This party will also be known as the party with the apples, and when I get back to Toronto and upload my pictures anyone who didn't see it first hand will understand.

Thanks to Danielle, Shannon and Carns for the hospitality.

As for the mixed reviews that has to be expected...
people like different kinds of music, and I find for some reason people are extremely hard on DJ's. I would rarely say that I saw a DJ and didn't have anything good to say about their set and give them a 'shit' or 'meh' rating.
I wouldn't expect to see a single DJ or music performer and like every single track that they played, or that they would be 100 percent flawless never missing a beat.

Generally I found all the DJ's after oliver to be a little more on the progressive side, which I didn't mind a bit. Its certainly different from the ultra high flying trance of Above and Beyond or Blank and Jones, but in my opinion still a great night musically.

Personally I think focusing on the postives of a night make for better times all around, and better memories.

Hearing a great set from Oakey, having Armin throw on a leafs jersey and hearing an extra hour and 15 mins of my favourite DJ in my favourite venue are just some of the many reasons that I thought this party was absolute top notch.
