Originally posted by cmay119 Thank you. I must admit I'm late on the Lovebirds train. So, I'm not too familiar with any of the tracks on this mix. Only about 15 minutes into it, so hopefully by the end I'll be more acquainted with his sound. |

Originally posted by lücid also, i HIGHLY recommend everyone who's been obsessed with the Lovebirds betalounge set to check out Craig Smith's "A 6th Borough Blend" mix posted on the previous page. it's got a very similar vibe. |

Originally posted by coleby76 Thank you very much. tried listening to some old prog today & couldn't do it. I'm on a house bender for sure. It's not commercial released stuff right? |

Originally posted by woscar As in a commercially released mixed compilation? No. If you mean unreleased tracks...yes. Some of those are still unreleased more than a year after the set was recorded ![]() |

May the public stoning commence! ![]() I definitely like what I'm hearing so far though, if that makes up for it at all. ![]() EDIT: BTW, is that a typo in the title of track 2? If it isn't that's a hell of an aggressive track title. ![]() |

Originally posted by lücid i hope it's not a typo because it's one of the funniest track names i've ever seen. ![]() |

Just got back from my first time seeing Luke Fair spin (Sullivan Room, NYC)... and the first 2/3 of the set were the definition of "bringing the funk"... he got a bit deeper/melodic toward the end with a spectacular finale, too. Ian Pooley-My Kicks (Vincenzo and Lovebirds mix), then Milton Jackson-Crash (Lovebirds mix)
new Luke 3-hour set from Dubai

sound quality kinda sucks and the crowd noise gets obnoxious at times, but it's the best thing i've heard from him in over a year.
and woooo for playing Lovebirds! i am uber-psyched to see him in 2 weeks.
A little aside the "funk" side of music to focus on the more experimental side, here is Mary Anne Hobbs on BBC Radio 1 Experimental.
Her show is the real meaning of fresh music. Just listening to her show gives me hope because it proves that they are guys out there moving things forward, making real progression.
Check out the show at the following link.

Bear in mind that the first track is far from being the best one so feel free to skip it.
Some of those tracks make me go mental (Floating Points - Esthian Three and the Beat Pharmacy tune). I've discovered so many great tunes almost every week on her show as opposed to ASOT or Club Life that I thought it would be great if I posted it here.

You might want to skip the first track though, it sucks, but the rest of the set is down right amazing.
a bit of slow funk to set the mood right...
