wow wow wow. I'm happy I'm Russian, not Finnish lol
I was watching the figure skating last night with the gf and is it just me or were all the programs basically the same..?
Sorry, but to me, doing the same triple axel 5 times in a skate is not impressive. Or the same spin as everyone else.
Do something different and exciting ffs.
Is it always like that, and the scoring is just based on technical skill and not creativity?
PS. I don't see anything wrong with the Women's team celebrating on the ice.
People are so fucking uptight for no good reason.

| Originally posted by yankeeBaby Warning: HUGE rant coming: I have to somewhat agree with this. Clearly the examples I use are not the opinions of everyone, nor am I blaming a group as whole, but here are just SOME of the MANY comments I have seen: 1. A Canadian bitching that Mancuso posed in her underwear: "It takes the USA to sell sex for the Olympics, only THEY would stoop that low..." Yet, there are pics of athletes from all around the world of their athletes in underwear (or naked!), and are they, or their country attacked? (ie: see this thread!) On that note, how is it the ENTIRE country's fault that a woman decides to pose in her underwear? Im sorry, guys, MY BAD!!! 2. American getting called a "baboon" for running around with the american flag after winning a gold, yet no one complaining when the other countries run around with the flag after their celebrations? Isnt that a normal celebration? Sorry, we are so classless! The guy only worked his whole life to wave the flag around, but no problem, we will put the flag away since the whole world is so offended by it. 3. Seeing in blogs after the speed-skating mistake, calling all Americans idiots, lazy, and incapable of having any sort of brain cells..."Its because his coach is American and ALL americans are idiots"....um sure, all 330 million of us were there, telling the guy to go into the inside lane! Entire blogs going from a speed-skate discussion to an anti-american discussion (politics NOT included!) NOt to mention the thousands of other topics that have some anti-american statements in them. I could list, but this rant is long enough. wow. 4. Seeing a burned American flag during a discussion about the Olympics ?? insensitive and disrespectful. ....I could go on and on.......I will if need be, because this Olympics has shown me what the mentality of a lot of people have. Its a shame, too, considering most people can surely say that they know an American person or people...... and I would assume they would not attribute ANY of this negativity to that person, but they WOULD group us into a bunch (as idiots, naive, classless and worthy of the whole worlds blame). Sorry guys, sorry to ruin your day/life/olympic experience. I just wake up everyday, have my coffee, go to work, come home, and occasionally go out and have some fun.....I must be a part of the worlds destruction!! LMAO!!! LAME, people! excuses are like assholes, everyone's got one! These Olympics are about competition, and I find it extremely frustrating that a lot of discussion gets back to negativity on US (mostly on other forums, but some here, on TA, too!) I am perfectly fine with playful banter based on competition, but the hatred and negativity shown is just nuts. Instead of hating/making excuses, etc, why dont we congratulate those who work hard and win (ie: I was the first to be happy for the canadian womans hockey team. I didnt burn the maple-leaf flag, I didnt make excuses, and the USA must accept defeat, because thats exactly what happened! we lost....oh NOES!!!) *rolls eyes* This Olympics has went from fun-sports-event to "flame countries for every fault we can find." Time to get back to the competition discussion and playful banter that the Olympics are supposed to be about! (thus, maybe I should take my own advice in this rant!) lol And that note: WHO THE F*CK cares if they drank and smoked? If they arent of age, thats a reasonable complaint, and maybe they SHOULD have just waited til they got to the bar to celebrate. BUT people are making way too big of a deal out of not only the Canadian womens celebration but EVERY SINGLE event/action/behavior/etc......I shouldnt have to see this as the main headline in the paper....(USA media also needs to take my advice!) |

The United States of America is one of the most beloved countries on the planet, with an enviable global reputation--why anyone would yell "fuck USA" is beyond me.

Excellent women's curling match....too bad Canada got silver. The skip did blow it in the 10th end and extra end. The double takeout in the 11th was a pretty simple double...even I've made numerous doubles like that. Overall, both skips called a good game.
