Are you speaking of the variety of pantheons that encompassed the world, or just the sheer number of Gods each one had?

Religion, itself, has only ever been a primarily social institution fixated on tribal cohesion - reducing things down to one God, one portfolio of tenets, is more of a consolidation dynamic than it is a phasing out of mystical thought.

The god of Islam, Judism, and Christianity are one and the same (Allah in Islam, Yahweh in the other two but the same entity). Yes but none of those civilisations had the understanding of the world that we do in modern times. Generally though as we got smarter, we stopped believing in something as ridiculous as the god of fire, but we created beings with even greater powers.

There must come a point where the majority of the population is so well educated that science, mathematics and rational thinking will overcome beliefs in something that has no proof whatsoever. A more agnostic view if you will.

At least that's what I hope will happen, because I turned from religious to not and I don't see why others couldn't as well.

Ive actualy been watching this videos all day and it as severely dropped my faith in humanity. Some call ins are so moronic that you seriously have to wonder if they are fake and if tey arent, how did the caller figure out how to use the phone to call in in the first place since some of them dont sound smart enough to be able to get dressed by themselves in the morning.
