well jenny you are lucky you don't fluctuate much but don't you have to give it up to that book you mentioned before? it's not easy staying the same weight...

also, i hate the tredmill and running in general so even 20min on the treadmill is too long.

Posted by MrJiveBoJingles on Aug-04-2009 02:51:

I hate long slow cardio. I do intervals. Tabata if I feel like killing myself.

Been using a stationary bike for cardio lately.

I do in terms of forming better eating habits, and for helping me lose the weight I never should have gained in the first place. But other than that I've never had a problem maintaining my ideal weight.

I don't feel like I have to work hard at being fit. I was pretty fit even before I started a gym routine; although I realize that as I age, sticking with a regimen will become increasingly important.

It's not as though changing my lifestyle was a complete 180 for me. I was used to an active lifestyle growing up. It was more about becoming more structured and conscious of what I was putting in my body and how I was using that energy. So just some fine tuning really.

And for people who may otherwise crash into things when they're running outdoors

Besides, I don't really care mind treadmills as long as I can blast some fast-paced acid techno in my mp3 player and run to the beat

You're just not doing as much work on a treadmill. Bitch.

It depends quite a lot on the speed, don't you think? 5 miles per hour (9km/h, actually) is not that slow.

Posted by Silky Johnson on Aug-04-2009 04:18:

Yeah but all you're doing on a treadmill is keeping up with it. As opposed to running on the road, where you have to use your own momentum to power you along.

Believe me dude, I've been running the track for months now and every time I have to use the treadmill when the track is closed, I can run twice as fast and twice a long.

Your body works totally different when running on a track vs running on a treadmill. It's not necessarily "easier" but it is different.

edit // Another thing a lot of people don't realize is that when the treadmill's incline is set to 0 it's actually at a slight downgrade. If you want to run on level ground it has to be at a 1. You should be fluctuating your inclines on a treadmill too.

Posted by Silky Johnson on Aug-04-2009 04:21:

No, it's definitely easier.

Posted by bas on Aug-04-2009 04:22:

Shut the fuck up.

Posted by Silky Johnson on Aug-04-2009 04:23:

You first.

edit: Lol, oh I get it Bas - you run on a treadmill. Bitch.

I believe you, but given the place where I live (and the kind of person I am ), it pays off.

I imagine so - my shin often hurts when I'm running on a track, and it never happened on a treadmill. So, to make it up for the difference, I run faster at the gym.

Posted by chimera66 on Aug-04-2009 04:48:

i believe bas

The only time I've ever run on a treadmill was for a stress test and I didn't like it. I also hate running on roads, though. Only grassy fields or trails for me.

Posted by lenazi on Aug-04-2009 05:03:

my knees are fucked and running outdoors tends to make them feel bad like krypton's penis. A treadmill is better than no running.

The hell with running outside u crazy fuks...it's 95 humid degrees outside. If I lived on a glacier and said "eh" after every sentence, then it might be ok

Posted by Silky Johnson on Aug-04-2009 05:22:

I run the indoor track.
