exactly, why buy a ferarri when a ford focus will get you around. you get it because you want to and you can. i actually had the xone 92 before the djm1000, but since im pure digital i wanted the djm1000 and got a offer on it that i couldn't refuse. i plan to get at least 1 more cdj1000mk2.
now for what i got today
picked up my macbook today. got the 1.83 intel dualcore with the 2 gig ram upgrade

As if having DannyO tempt me into buying a MacBook isn't enough, now you go and buy one and post pics of it...
I think I am destined to own one now... It just won't quit tempting me.. every corner I turn.. BAM!!! MACBOOK!!!

Exactly, I have no idea how Kimchi can afford all of this stuff unless he's making thousands of dollars a month...like on salary or comission. I have CDJ 1000 MK2s, but everything else I have isn't expensive (PCV 275 mixer, KRK RP8 monitors, and I got some expensive Denon headphones but those my mom bought me with some money she owed me).

im only 20 years old and i am a full time student. i make about 1500 a month working part-time, but the reason im able to buy all this stuff is because i have no bills. still live at home and stuff so all the money i make is for my own personal use.

I'm 21 and a full time student and work part-time and make less than half of that...like maybe $600 a month haha if only I had a better job...I also pay for school myself so that takes up a chunk of my money. The only time I can afford stuff is in the summer when I'm working more. I'm jealous
. Where do you work?

I'm guessing you haven't gone out much then in the last 6 odd months?
Not having a go, just wondering as all your money seems to have gone into your equipment. Having said that, it is nice equipment.
I earn a good bit more then that, and live at home as well (22yrs old) But there's no way i could afford any of that gear. Too many other expenses. Then again i've been drinking (alcohol) since i was 15.. (not boasting, it's just seriously fucking expensive going out in ireland now..)
I do have 4k saved up,
I could buy everything i want!! but then my 18 month trip to australia/everywhere would go up in smoke
Fair play kimchi, that's some nice gear. You should wrap it up soon though. Enough toys. Learn how to use them!

Exactly, unless your a professional DJ and clearly know what your doing (do gigs) it's not worth IMO to get equipment like that starting out. I mean sure I have the CDJ 1000 MK2s and am still learning how to use everything on there, I think for a home set up, it's not always neccessary to have the best of the best, unless you clearly know what your doing. I do think there is a thing called over-kill. If I had to choose, I would have probably just got CDJ 200s and got a DJM 400 mixer, but I had some money saved up and I sold a bunch of stuff...like my TTs, a Yamaha DJX keyboard and a Numark DM-3001X mixer. I had $1,000 saved up in one account, and I got another $1,000 for all of those things I sold. Haha that was the only way I would have afforded the CDJ 1000 MK2s last summer.

How the hell are you gonna learn how to use the equipment properly without buying and using it

Simple, just testing the equipment out before you buy it or buying some less expensive and simpler stuff starting out, or starting on software. You don't really need a 5 channel mixer or the greatest effector (you almost don't even need one, unless you want to be James Zabiela) or even CDJ 1000 MK2s or MK3s. I bought them, I acknowledge, but I sold a bunch of stuff, had money saved and couldn't decide really. I also had some experience mixing. I just don't think you need all of that for a starter set, even some pros or guys that DJ at clubs don't have that fancy of equipment. I recommend to most people who are just starting out...to get CDJ 200s and an inexpensive 2 or 3 channel mixer, like a Numark DXM-06. That is both good quality, has good resale value and also will last you quite a while. I would have gotten that if I started out a year ago, but I had been mixing since I was 16...of software, and TTs and I wanted vinyl emulation but I also wanted wave display, CD-Text, and a greater number of pitch ranges. No hate, just stating my point of view. It's an awesome set up.. I'm actually kind of jealous...hehe. I'm not arguing about it really, just stating my opinion.

I don't get why people are going on at him about his set up, I say mad props to him for being able to save it all, even at 1500 a month with no bills would of taken awhle to get the money for that gear.
Maybe he got this gear as he is really into effects and wants to really learn them, well he got the best piece of gear for that, and maybe hes abit of an audiophile, so he got a damn good mixer which also happens to have digital ins for his CDJs keeping the signal cleaner and not converting it as much.
Big thumbs up for kimchis setup.

I can definitely relate to that. Granted, I don't make nearly as much in a month as you, but it sure is damn nice to use your paycheck as you wish without any major obligations to worry about. Ahh, +1 for disposable income and still living with parents that pick up the bills and whatnot.
BTW, you've got some very nice stuff there.

Haha yeah that's probably it. I'm not really trying to give him a hard time about his set up or saying it sucks (quite the contrary). I'm just stating my own personal point of view. But it's true, I do recommend for people starting out...to get CDJ 200s and a fairly inexpensive mixer. But I like I said I have nothing against Kimchi's set up, it's actually amazing. I just wont be able to afford anything like that other than my luck at getting CDJ 1000 MK2s. Haha he makes $1500 a month, I make barely $600...
, and I do have bills and other stuff, even though I live with my parents...I pay for much of my stuff by myself, except for groceries and rent (don't have to pay rent as long as i'm in school, and my parents pay for groceries of course). I sometimes have barely enough money for tracks...like right now.

Just as a small side note on this, you really can't put a price tag on a hobby or interest since the ends will always justify the means if it is something you have a strong passion for.

That's true. I think i'm just jealous, and maybe if I had more money I wouldn't be this way. If he has a passion for it, fine, i'm happy for him. Maybe I think i've lost my passion...I dunno. I haven't mixed in over a month.
