My annual MLB playoff pool is starting on the day when all playoff spots will be finalized. You can pick your selections to see if you will win.
I am planning to do some sort of a prize for whoever wins it, of course I'll participate it in as usual.
Any idea what the prize should be? A copy of a CD (or a cd rip), perhaps (I got many CDs, see my Discogs profile)? Gotta be something to make it interesting ...
I have the pool rules/points system already set up.
Posted by Mebot on Sep-13-2005 00:55:
the prize should be gloating rights for all next year to rub it in everyone else face about how much you rule....
or a CD would be fine, yeah

I think the guy who finishes last should get a "special" prize too

Nah, Im thinking hes just now hitting his prime. Most hitters come into their prime around 28-29 (Hes 28). Im not saying that hes gonna hit 50 hrs a year now, Im just saying that you shouldnt count this year as a fluke. Now if only he could hit at least .300 Id be happier

Are you a Braves fan?
Man, Braves are getting smoked up in the ass right now. I am very worried.

Those pesky Phillies have been on my Braves' back for the past 5 years.

Yeah, I'm a fan. No worries man, Jones will carry them into the playoffs. Of course, once they are there, they will probably lose in the first round like they usually do. Really pisses me off when they win the division every year but can't even get to the series.

when they let larry brown go ?
when mitch williams gave up that home run in the world series ?
when the the eagles lost 3 straight conference championship games in a row ?

Hopefully Cards can wrap up NL Central at Wrigley, can't think of a better place to wrap it up at.

It's funny that a lot of people that live near me (in Northern Virginia) are Phillies fans. Reason being, Philadelphia is the closest NL based team to root for. Even when Washington got the Montreal Expos last year, people were still diehard Phillies fans.
I guess holding on to a team and establishing fanship is hard to break and venture onto something new.

Are these Philly fans excessively overweight and bald? Just curious....

Hehe, I guess I am not the only one who thinks tonight's games are very important. I am going to be glued to TBS tonight, accepting nothing less than a 1 out of 4 against the Phillies
As for Philadelphia, that city hasn't won a championship from any of the 4 major north american sports leagues since 1982, when Phillies won World Series.

Hehe, well I live a couple thousand or so kilometres from Atlanta, in fact I've never been there either. I have never really been a fan of Blue Jays. I discovered baseball during October days of 1999, watching Yankees demolish Braves in the World Series. At that time I didnt have a favourite baseball team. When Braves won the division title the next year, I was well impressed and gradually by 2001 they were my favourite team. Will be my favourite, at least for the time Bobby Cox and Schuerholtz will be running the team.

actually 1983, when the 76ers won the NBA title
Phillies won their only world series in 1980
1982 is when the last time the Cardinals won the world series
(knowing useles facts like these will hopefully win me free drinks at a bar one of these days
)

some are, some aren't. it's usually the middle-age people that are. I know a lot of people in my own age group (18-24) that are Phillies fans though.
A lot of them bandwagoned over to the Nationals, but i know their true dark secret.
And a sweep of the Mets today keeps us in the playoff race still

Haha, you're right! I guess that bike accident I had last year really shook up my memory ... LOL, just kidding. Thanks for the correction. I should've double checked my "guess", as I just put my thoughts on the forum. I was pretty close though!!
