as for the nets-raptors series, as everyone predicted, the most boring of the 8 first round series. i think vince carter is on cruise control, because he thinks the nets can take out the raptors with him at 50%. rj needs to step up a bit more. really underachieving right now.

The Raps are suffering from major playoff jitters right now. First time there for most of the players (except MoPete) so they are a bit timid right now and not playing their game. Plus the Nets are taking advantage of the Raps weak interior game and rebounding to stay in the series, despite some poor play from some key players.

If the Raps do win this series, I think the confidence boost will get them really high. Maybe even to Conference finals because I really think the Raps do have the talent and the teamwork to get far, and most of the key players are still learning the game and will improve.

As for Bargnani, he's been sucking b/c he's recovering from the effects of his appendix surgery, plus the playoff jitters. Once he settles down, he should be good to go for 12-15pts off the bench

I agree butters. Its fair that you put Dallas up there, and they deserve it. I guess, only time will tell who is the best team. San Antonio has the toughest road from all western conference teams to win it all. Denver, Phx, then Dallas. Three great teams. If we can get past them, I think that we will be alright in the finals. I am taking it slow though.

BTW, Brian and Vern, how was the lakers game yesterday?

An interesting read. What is amazing is that the top 4 players are the best players in 4 of the top 5 teams in the NBA(i would slip Detroit either 3 or 4 and Houston 5. If Detroit did not have Tayshaun Prince, they wouldn't be in the top 5 right now. )

yeah imo, best teams atm:
1. Dallas (sorry Alban. they did beat us last year. if San Antonio beats Dallas this year, they move up here. =) )
2. San Antonio
3. Phoenix
4. Detroit
5. Houston

I don't know about Houston. If McGrady & Yao are playing well, they're right up there, but if either of them gets in foul trouble or doesn't play well (which includes getting other people involved), they're worthless as a team. I'd put Chicago up there instead of them, pending the result of tonight's game.

i stand by this darkhorse pick. i see them getting past utah, and give the mavs/warriors a hell of a series. if it's the mavs, rockets in 7, if the warriors, rockets in 5.

I'm rooting against Houston mainly because I just moved down here about a year & a half ago and most of my friends here are overly obnoxious in their fanness, and I'm tired of hearing about them.

Vince Carter brings it.

Jason Kidd's bad knee? What bad knee? What was his stats? 16pts, 19 assists (14 by end of 2nd), 16 rebounds. Wow

Posted by shaw on Apr-28-2007 02:52:

Damn, that was a hell of a comeback by the Bulls. I'm very happy right now . In other news, someone needs to go Tonya Harding on James Posey and blow that mofo's knees right out so he can stop mauling every Bulls player he sees. What a dumb thug.

mavs bout to pwn warriors

im sick of Antoine Walker. he was legit on the Celtics, but nowadays all he does is foul, whine and occasionally drain a 3, followed by that lame shoulder shake bs

lol. I don't care about him. I just love that the Bulls are about to knock Alonzo Mourning, Gary Payton, and Pat Riley out of the playoffs for about the 50th time...with all new players. Those three used to be right up there with John Starks and Karl Malone on the public enemy list in Chicago.

spurs 2-1!

Posted by LeopoldStotch on Apr-29-2007 04:20:

good match from the start to finish. give credit to the nuggets for trying in this whole series. some teams would lay flat as a dog after going through the spurs stifling defense, but the nuggets are giving 110% right now.

cavs and pistons going to sweep their opponents.

you're forgetting someone.

That was interesting game between Spurs and Nuggets.
The pure talent on that team allows some ridiculous plays (or lack of) to score some points. Just seems so chaotic on the offence for the Nuggets, but with Iverson and Anthony able to create own shots, they can get away with it for a while.
But the Spurs systematic defence overwhelmed the Nuggets, plus the Nuggets defence kinda sucks, with over reliance on Camby.

really diggin the bulls, deng is awesome

Posted by fmodena369 on Apr-29-2007 18:27:

definitely...can't wait to see who gets outta the Detroit Chicago series! Whoever does will be Eastern Champs, Lebron can't stop either of those teams.

I really can't see Chicago beating Detroit, 'cuz the Pistons can put Billups and Hamilton on Gordon, and throw Prince on Deng. If they shut down those two, the Bulls still have a good team offensively, but nobody who can even start to "take over." I hope that I'm wrong, but I just don't see it happening.

Nevertheless, watching the Bulls is a lot of fun. They're one of the only teams in the NBA that actually shoots jump shots--mostly by Deng. It's not all dunks & threes--basketball's equivalent of home runs.

lol @ the Heat shooting free throws.

also, does anyone else think that Antoine Walker bears an uncanny resemblance to a frog?

CHICAGO SWEPT THE HEAT!

YES!!!!

Posted by fmodena369 on Apr-29-2007 19:36:

Woohoo! The bandwagon's got plenty of room, folks.

Watching the Nets/Raptors game right now, and this is just brutal. Toronto looks so terrible right now. The Nets don't even look that great, but Toronto just looks atrocious. They're losing by 30 halfway through the 3rd quarter.

Posted by LeopoldStotch on Apr-30-2007 01:18:

my mistake. forgot the bulls sweeping the heat. so the bulls, cavs, and pistons all look like easy 1st rounds for them, while the nets look like they will have no problems with toronto in game 5. clearly, new jersey is starting to show their playoff experience swagger against the raptors. the raptors are a young versatile team, but at the end, the nets are proving their amount of playoff experience in the past is going to help them in this playoffs.

a nets-cavs series and bulls-pistons series doesn't sound too bad. by the way the nets are playing, i think they have a nice chance against the cavs, and the bulls-pistons is going to be one ugly battle. i wouldn't be surprised if we see a couple of fights break out in this battle, but it wouldn't be like those old school bulls-pistons series with the bad boys against jordan.

as for the lakers, they're done. they have no answers for any of phoenix's weapons. fortunately, san antonio has the right equipment to put the clamps on nash and crew. nash with 24 assists this afternoon.

Posted by shaw on Apr-30-2007 01:23:

If the Bulls can get past Detroit, I really think they can play with anybody, but that team just matches up with them so well. We shall see, though.

oh, and how could I forget--Ben Wallace hitting 7 straight free throws to end the game

I was literally laughing watching that. Talk about a sign of it just being your series.

Posted by LeopoldStotch on Apr-30-2007 02:09:

imo, the starting 5 for the bulls matchup almost even to the pistons starting 5. hamilton-billups have a slight edge over gordon-hinrich. hamilton will take away gordon's game. billups can clearly outmuscle hinrich anyday. wallace-prince-webber have a slight edge over wallace-deng-pj brown. webber can force wallace and brown out of the painted area, because if they don't guard him in the perimeter, he can hit those easy 15 to 17 foot shots at ease as we saw in the past. the matchup i am most forward to seeing is prince-deng. i love prince's game, and the way he puts out 110% on both ends of the floor. easily a #1/#2 scorer on anyone of the 29 nba teams. deng is a force to reckon with these past couple of months since the all star break.

major factor is the bench. duhon-noicini-thomas-malik allen are going to be keys to how chicago can survive detroit's defense. detroit's bench isn't that bad(delfino-mcdyess-mohammad-murray-hunter), but chicago's bench has the slight edge here.

i can't choose who is going to win this series.
