just got home from fed sq.
amamzing night of action
watch out for a current affair tomorrow night at 6:30. .surely some of the 5mins of video and interview footage of Paulie, Alex and Myself should make it to air.
totally gutted.. with four seconds left, what can you say!!! its just inexplicable...
someone threw a lit flare at the white tent under the screen... but apart from that, pretty controlled response from a very disappointed crowd.
thx to Paulie, Chris, Alex, Dave and BRANDI for a great night out!

Time to start using technology to start checking footage before important decisions are made I think.

Ahhh
50/50 penalty, Neil the collosus had no choice but to to block a shot from point blank range. The kant played it well.
Wasnt a red Card.
Cannavaro tore Viduka a new arsehole...should of been subbed off a lot earlier. In the end pace (emerton) and lack of creativity(kewell) cost us dearly. You can be proud tho, cause that is a darn good italian team that we took all the way.
Well done Australia!

Sorry for that bullshit loss against the Italian pansies. We'll take care of them when we meet them in the final a la '94. We'll make sure Totti finally comes out of the closet and shoves that thumb of his up his ass

you all obviously missed aluisi\'s (i think it was him, not up on all their names) blatant dive late in the half. all that showed was the italians are better at it.
you have to say though, a lot of the dives in the first half weren't paid as fouls and played on. It's tricky when it gets around the box...as the stakes instantly go up if you foul.
When that penalty went in, I felt as if none of that match happened. I immediately left the big screen at Circular Quay.
I wasn't that upset as I thought I'd be, I should of been in tears but I wasn't. Probably not even gutted.
We had the Ities on the ropes, we did lack Kewell's creativity to create better chances. Australia were playing football, Italy were trying to turn the match into a massive borefest.
I'm sure if extra time came about, I'm sure we would of won.
Unfortunately it wasn't to be. It is a beautiful game, but it can also be a really cruel one too.
But of course, there is no ecstasy without the hard bitter experience of the agony. Australia's quest for total happiness lives on. The beautiful game resembles life the most (its a big fight, you only get a few chances. You need skill, you need luck, and the best team does not always win.)
Our time of being top of the world will come.
This World Cup campaign has made me proud to be Australian. I enjoyed witnessing Australia experiencing and embracing this beautiful game and its culture, not to mention the unity it brought to most of Australia. I just wanted it to go for another few weeks.
This crop of players were probably our golden generation ie Viduka, Kewell, Aloisi, Emerton & etc. Most of them playing for top clubs in Europe, but yet to play in a World Cup. Some of them had to experience the nightmare against Iran at the MCG 8 years ago, so I'm sure they are able to handle this.
I'm proud of all of them. Thank you Socceroos and thank you Guus Hiddink, for that night last November against Uruguay and of course the last few weeks, it was a real pleasure.
Football doesn't end, A-League and Asia here we come!!!!!!
in all sincere honesty, it could be paid a penalty, but you must wonder, if roles were reversed, would they have paid the penalty to australia?? i think not, if it was a german defender that made that tackle would they have paid the penalty?? i think not
The referees have clearly not given us a fair go, because we are not a recognised footballing nation, which sucks, because one stupid decision like that, may have cost us a top8 maybe top 4 finish in the world cup.
nevertheless, i have never been more proud to be australian, they did our whole nation proud and they really did put football on the map in the country and put australian football on the map globally. Lucas Neill was by far our standout player of the tournament, lets hope he can overcome this small setback and move on to bigger and better things.

the italians at training once again
OH and BTW, award of the nite goes to soups, who despite being in and amongst about 40,000 people, flopped it and and had a piss in his plastic beer cup right in the middle of the crowd!!!!!
