Meteomedia says some clouds and some sun for today, I guess today's piknic is going on!
Nice ! it's confirmed, there's is a piknic at calder today!
fingers crossed its nice tomorrow
Edit: stay tune, a lot of people are trying to make saunderson happen rain or shine!!!
40% POP... considering that it was 90% for Kalkbrenner and it stayed sunny all day, I hope they learned their lesson about canceling potentially wicked events
Michel said that they were considering doing it outside. He also said that they were highly considering Cherry as an alternative if they decide to have it inside...Where did you get that info paskal?
if it was raining i dont think i would be working on my projects lol piknic @ cherry wtf awesome... seems like it wont rain though
On the Piknic website they posted this in the comments:

Saunderson killed it!!!!! Amazing set!!! Big techno set with that Detroit and old school housy twist!! Perfect set!!
The music was insane.... also except for a couple drizzles (not even worthy of an umbrella) the weather held up nicely
Kevin Saunderson > Carl Cox, Laurent Garnier, Jeff Mills, Onionz, .....
He truly is the Master!
Got there at 6...
It was good, really good! Heavy bangingness from Saunderson...Claude Von Stroke kinda disappointed but I didn't go in with any expectations from him so...ya, all good I guess.
The change I'd have made is putting Von Stroke BEFORE Saunderson...Claude brought it down too much & he would have warmed up nicely for Saunderson. When you're hearing 134 bpm techno for 2.5 hours, bringing it down to 126 bpm isn't the best thing. Just plain old physics
Bye Bye Piknik, thanks for everything!
Ok got there around 5:15 - 5:30 in a bad mood cause Saunderson had already started. After around 15 minutes I was happy to realize he was starting to do his transition to full on techno! I couldnt believe I was hearing this old school sound again. All promoters in Mtl who are scared to book techno.... WTF did you see the crowd? People love techno here, they loved it before and they can love it again! All it takes is promoters to get out of the comfort zone and stop saying nobody likes techno! What I could not figure out is WHY Claude Von Stroke went on after Kevin? Like Stereohead said its physics ffs! I actually left because I was so dissapointed. Great job Piknik for the year even though there was a few cancellations! All winter I will be looking forward to see the next lineup!

| Originally posted by malek thats a bold statement because Laurent Garnier is not first, but whatever, saunderson was really good. |
Saunderson proved that he can still play a variety of old school and fresh sounds, banging beats that were popular in the 90's and yet still sound very actual. The house twist and Detroit sounds just make him the best of all for me. It amazes me that this guy was playing records in the first raves early 90's...in 2008, he's now 45 years old, still uses samples and remixes of his old tracks, uses only his laptop to mix(!!!) and definitely can still put on a great show.
edit: I failed to mention that I was going there expecting a certain amount of cheesiness as he seems to have a tendency to play euro electro-house like Guetta sometimes...suprisingly he actually stuck to a deep tech and more detroit sound of house. perfect.
ya kevin was wicked, great picnik!
