Sharks vs stars...better get it together. Stars are finally looking like they play hockey ...since Avery got canned.

thanks for voting for the hawks. i think a lot of people here forgot that we had hockey in chicago until the games started being broadcast on tv this year.

don't be ashamed. we're actually decent this year. i think they've sold out all their games.

lol sharks sign claude lemieux.

i am scratching my head on this one as i wonder why they would want a 45 year old that has not played in 5 years.

that's what Vern told me and tbh I'm enjoying what I'm seeing, especially with the good youngsters, something is being built almost akin to pittsburgh in the level of talent and the future possibilities. Will be rooting for you in the winter classic

onto last nights live game, saw the first 2 periods of NYR/NYI before tiredness of family party kicked in and enjoyed it. some wicked fights and my first live 6 on 5 delayed penalty goal. Was very well worked, shame it was by a NY team eh vern

No idea. I dont think the sharks really need him. He just cleared waivers today too. Not sure how to feel about it.

Posted by elFreak on Dec-31-2008 19:44:

he did win 4 stanley cups and the conn smyth trophy (playoff mvp)...so my guess is that sharks management is looking for a leader that knows what it takes to win a cup and not choke.

..still, hire him as a coach lol.

Posted by L.E.N. on Dec-31-2008 23:06:

No doubt. Sharks are pulling out everything to get the cup. thats a good thing. Not sure if he will work in Mclellans system but Todd will know and if he does bring Claude up...well I guess he knows best.

Sharks vs Wild right now.

Posted by elFreak on Dec-31-2008 23:17:

yeah...patrick marleau has never been considered much of a leader throughout the league and joe thornton is notorious for being a quiet guy in the dressing room so it must be a leadership thing. Lemieux will chew out people pretty quickly if he does not like what he sees.

it certainly does not make the sharks a worse team...so it can't hurt.

ps...boston

Posted by L.E.N. on Dec-31-2008 23:47:

Fuckin Boston is something else right now. Ive been trying to catch their games but most are before Im off work and I dont have a DVR.

Im glad hes on the sharks I guess. Hes just a bit rougher than the game the sharks seem to be playing. Calgary or Dallas seems like his style. What do I know though...we will see.

Posted by L.E.N. on Dec-31-2008 23:55:

A couple picks from my visit to the tank against the nuks.

Posted by L.E.N. on Jan-01-2009 01:54:

Sharks boned it. Got a point at least. 3-2 OT. 15 point in the last 20 points...not bad. Seems like they are playing it easy before all star game.

lol ruutu. he has to resolve to biting someone? what a joke

Posted by L.E.N. on Jan-07-2009 20:01:

I thought I saw that bite but the TV was muted at the bar so I wasnt sure what I saw.

Sucks that they let him keep playing...any word on a NHL fine?

Exclusive: Ruutu suspended two games
Wednesday, 01.07.2009 / 3:00 PM / News
By NHL.com Staff
Ottawa's Jarkko Ruutu has been suspended for two games by the NHL for a biting incident that occurred in Tuesday night's loss to Buffalo.

Ruutu was suspended after a Wednesday morning's disciplinary hearing with NHL Senior Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations Colin Campbell, a phone conversation between the two parties that began at 11:30 a.m.

In Tuesday's incident, Ruutu bit the gloved thumb of Buffalo's Andrew Peters, breaking the skin's surface, during a first-period altercation.

"It's a pretty goofy thing that happened," said Peters, who had a bandage wrapped around his right thumb after the game. "It's not the injury, it's the incident."

He will miss Thursday's game against Boston, the Northeast Division leader, and Saturday's home game against the New York Rangers.

It is the second time this season that Ruutu has been suspended this season. On Nov. 12, Ruutu earned a two-game ban for an elbow he delivered to the head of Montreal's Maxim Lapierre in a Nov. 11 game.

According to replays of the most recent incident, the skirmish started with Peters rubbing his glove in Ruutu's face as the play moved up ice. Then, Ruutu used his mouth to remove Peters' glove from his right hand. Peters immediately retreated to the Buffalo bench, holding his thumb, as trainers tended to the injury.

Peters, who sported a bandage on his thumb after the game, was assessed a minor for unsportsmanlike conduct on the play by the refereeing tandem of Mike Hasenfratz and Frederick L'Ecuyer.
