'Prison Break' Stops Running
FOX decides to end show, final episodes start in April

They've broken out, been the subject of a manhunt, been imprisoned and broken out again. Now the run for "Prison Break" is at an end.

FOX announced Tuesday (Jan. 13) during its TCA press tour session that "Prison Break" will end its four-season run in the spring. The final episodes will debut Friday, April 17.

The show's final season has followed brothers Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) and Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell), along with a Homeland Security agent ( Michael Rapaport) working to take down the Company, the shadowy firm that initially framed Lincoln and set the whole thing in motion.

This season felt like a natural end point for the show, FOX Entertainment chief Kevin Reilly says: "To keep it going was going to be, creatively, really stretching the concept."

That said, Reilly thinks the show's producers "have a really cool ending" in mind for the finale.

The final run is currently set for four episodes. Reilly says there's some chance a couple extra episodes could be tacked on, but the network hasn't confirmed them yet.

A two-hour direct-to-DVD movie entitled Prison Break: The Final Break is being released in late July (it will air on UK television late May but will not show on N.American stations). Apparently, fans get to see Michael and Sara's wedding; also, somehow the latter ends up going to prison and the former must try to break her out. These events are set after the gang is exonerated but before Michael dies.

The above info is what I've gathered by piecing together what I've read on a bunch of different websites; I guess we'll see how accurate this info is once the movie airs on UK television.

Anyways, I'm rather disappointed with the finale. The biggest problem is, of course, Michael's death: this part of the story never should have been included in the show IMO. Also, the last few episodes felt so rushed and overly-complicated/extraordinary to me, as in they clearly reflect the producers' knowledge of the show being canceled. Seasons one and two were excellent; perhaps the series should have wrapped up by the end of the second season.

look under prison break.

he died? that's lame

granted the final few episodes were not put together in the best possible way. The general went from being a strong and dangerous character to a shadow of his former self towards the end and while Michael and Lincoln's mother acted well, her role too seemed weak.

I think he sort of had to die and they did it in a decent manner. the rest of the fox river gang paid solid tribute to his memory and the show ensured that it would end with his passing.

There is no need for a 2 hour movie or whatever. Whats done is done. Leave it...

Prison break: Escape from Evin!

Posted by Nicolas Oliver on May-29-2009 04:10:

Having just watched The Final Break, I have to admit that I am much more satisfied with how the show ended. At least now the viewer understands why Michael died. I enjoyed the fact that Mahone stayed true to the crew and didn't sell them out. The whole escape, though, was a little silly (e.g. Michael running and hiding underneath the FBI agent's car?!?).

Overall, I believe it was a mistake for Fox not to air this special.

nah i think it was overdone. i like the assumption that michael died due to his medical condition itself more. there was an over abundance of cheese in the final break (more than usual). and it doesnt show how each character got on with life as compared to what really aired
