Did anyone else go to any of the Padres/Piazza games at Shea?
I went to the one on Wed, where Piazza hit 2 homers off Pedro
I had never seen so much applause for an opposing player scoring against the home team.
His shots sure looked vintage. He gave quite a scare when he almost hit a 3rd (for the go-ahead run) in the 8th inning.
interesting tidbit on

The Mets have had few players who so captivated fans. Tuesday night's game drew a season-best 5.7 regional television rating. Not only did it outdraw the Yankees-White Sox game that night, but it reportedly was the highest-rated Mets broadcast since the first game played in New York in the aftermath of 9/11. |
i went to the tuesday game where he first came back

how quickly things can change
Sox are suddenly back to 1 game behind the Yanks
Reyes with a 3-dinger night!
But once again, like when he hit for the cycle, the Mets pitching makes it go to waste, and lose the game

everytime there is a game in the friendly confines, wrigley field is one big frat party
Red Sox pitching looking great. If glavine's out for year Mets wont win a playoff series
Yankees pitching is looking fantastic as well.
As for Glavine, eh... I'm not so sure about that. The NL really does suck and the Mets are still, with Pedro and Glav on the DL, the best team in the league. They may not win the WS, but they should still make it there. Pedro, Maine, Duque, Trachsel... really not that bad. Mabe Oliver Perez turned the corner and can help as well.
5 game sweep wow the boys are back!!

boy, that Boston bullpen was brutal
why couldn't they pitch like that when the Mets were in town?

5 game sweep? Red Sux are bunch of chumps. Book the ticket for the 9th straight division crown, it's over boys. Yanks are an "uberteam.." at least according to Theo Epstein. 430 pitches by the Red Sux in the first 2 games, that's brutal. Who needs Matsui or Sheff? Melky just fits in adding along with Cano that youthful enthusiasm. Combined with good chemistry like Damon, Juice, and Villone sporting the staches. Scary though to Damon, he looked shady with his.
I think a 5-game sweep is one of the funniest things ever. I'm so glad it happened!
One of the best days of the year for Mets fans!
Glavine is a-ok
Mets get Shawn Green (ok, it's not as big as the Abreu trade, but it will help, and the Mets didn't give up much)
Delgado extended his 30-HR's season streak and hits his 400th home run
and Beltran hit a come-from-behind walk-off home run!
I was at the game - first walk-off HR I ever saw in person!
Slick Willy (aka Bill Clinton) was in attendance as well
