SWERVE @ CAFE ADAGIO - ST. PETE (5-29-09) UNASLIM, STEVE GRAHAM, MIN//MAX

SWERVE -

Intransitive verb: to turn aside abruptly from a straight line or course: to cause to turn aside or deviate

Slowly the electronic dance music scene is becoming more and more commercialized these days. Mainstream artists are getting tons of air-time on terrestrial radio stations with pop-influenced dance music productions. Local underground venues are now being saturated with not-so underground artists. Hip hop stars are taking original house music tracks, rapping over the beats, and claiming it their own. Wannabe DJs are now performing during Winter Music Conference. If this trend continues, electronic music will become what the true EDM fans dont want it to be... mainstream cookie-cutter music. That being said, its our objective to help break the trend... deviate from the path... SWERVE!

As long as there is a mainstream scene, there will be an underground scene; but what exactly is underground?

Underground music refers to a variety of music subgenres that usually develop a subcultural cult-like following despite their lack of mainstream appeal, visibility, or commercial promotion. Underground bands and artists are often signed with independent record labels, and they typically perform in small venues and promote their music through word-of-mouth, internet sites, fanzines, and college or community radio airplay. Wikipedia.com

Our second engagement at Caf Adagio will consist of another superb underground musical soundtrack to please your ears and make your body groove. On Friday May 29th, 2009 please join us once again as resident DJs Steve Graham (THM/MCAST) and MIN//MAX (OCP/THM) welcome special guest UnaSlim (HALLUCINATION) to the decks for a night to remember!

"Futuristic fox, UnaSlim is fully representing for the lady DJs of the world. Her sound is innovative, her look is trend setting, and her attitude is cosmic. This chick has been spinning records since a wee 16, which obviously gave her the wits to be taken seriously as an artist. UnaSlim is the embodiment of electronic sound and should be watched closely, shes way ahead of the game. UnaSlim has worked with such international renowned acts such as Zoo Brazil & J-Break of Cyberian Knights. With such work earning her a spot on the infamous Hallucination Recordings. Her fusion of tech house and minimal beats, blended with her unique style is what we've all been waiting for when it comes to women in the music industry. " - Tue Nasty Entertainment

UnaSlim is sure to bring the underground sound as she does best so dont miss your chance to see her tear the roof off of Adagio!

Anyone thinking of that sunset thing near Okeechobee(spelling)?Idk I went to sunset 07 in hmm oh yea 07 and it was strait,Rabbit in the moon held it down and their was a high influx of moderately priced beans so that's always a plus.Idk if this one is going to be nearly as chill.I think it goes on on the 6th of this month.

Arrow SWERVE @ CAFE ADAGIO, ST. PETE w/ BUTCH (FRIDAY JUNE 12TH)

Right now our bodies are playing a complex rhythm-- the beating of your heart-constant flow of your breath...whether u know vast or very little info on structure of compositions, it is already there within you and every aspect of life... can find (deep within your soul) the RESONANCE is there... -- T.Sounds

First of all, everyone here at Swerve would like to thank all who have attended our shows thus far. None of this would be possible without you guys (and gals) and we pride ourselves on producing only the best in underground shows for you all to enjoy. With that said, the tremendous response so far has led us to conclude that there is a definite void in Downtown St. Pete for electronic dance music, that we feel obligated to fill. So, in the next couple of months we are poised to bring you a series of shows unlike any other in the area. Full of heavy beats, heavy underground hitters, and only the best talent Florida has to offer.

June 12th, is the time for our big cahuna party, at our vaunted downtown location. After the warm-up of the first two sessions, we are feeling the heat and getting into the summertime groove, with several more parties to come. With our trusty residents, Steve Graham (THM/MCast) & Min//Max (OCP/THM) in full control of setting the tone for the night, we proudly welcome a headliner that will surly turn up the heat in Downtown St. Pete.

Butch Johnson is an artist on the cusp of truly great things. His energetic sets around the Tampa Bay area and specifically Snatch nights @ HPC, have always created a buzz and yearning for more. With his ear to the underground and his sights set on rolling every crowd into a frenzy, this installment will surely be another deviation from the mainstream, as we take another swan dive into the underground. Well see you all on the dancefloor on Friday June 12th, 2009!!

1111 Central Ave, Western district of Downtown St. Petersburg, FL

Tourqe Evolution Music Festival : June 13 - 14 2009 : 29900 SOUTHWEST 227 AVENUE, MIAMI FLORIDA 33070

Deep within the south of Florida lies a location 16 acres wide, privately owned and destined to host South Florida's Official Electronic Dance Music Festival.

The EVOLUTION of large scale events has escalated to the point that in this financial crisis ailing the majority of Americans, hard working and studious people are forced to put their free time aside due to monetary constraints. Tourqe Evolution Music Festival brings the Festival back to South Florida by providing a quality show of Local Florida Dj's and Legends alongside local sponsors.

Conceived for more than just the Music, Tourqe Evolution also seeks to bring the community together, with Public Murals available for Attendees to express their talents, video game competitions, and clinics where children and aspiring dj's can learn to mix/scratch/dj through the guidance of accredited Instructors free of charge.

Spanning 24 Hours (from 6pm until 6pm the following day), attendees are encouraged to bring along their tents to the festival for the full on experience of this Woodstock-esque event. TEMF'09 is an event geared towards the celebration of life and community, and we encourage all responsible ages to join us for this 24 hour ride !!

Updated information and details about Featured Dj's are available at the TEMF'09 blog, Tourqe.Blogspot.Com along with additional free legal music compiled for your enjoyment.
