edit: after already buying my tickets, insomniacs website now lists that VIP is limited to FIVE DRINKS ONLY!?!?!? When did Insomniac start skimping on VIP so hard? I feel pretty much ripped off considering every previous Insomniac event I've purchased tickets to has had an open bar....

henry please tell me this isnt true

seriously?

Check mainpage!

Looks like there are plently good DJs playing so I wont ever be bored, but all the live acts dont even hold a candle to last year.

Which is too bad, because after last year I was expecting a move towards more live acts, oh well.

Posted by DaveT on May-09-2010 00:03:

Yeah, what IS up with booking Benny three years in a row for the main stage? He hasn't even done anything good in years. And I mean years!

And I don't think I've heard one good report on his EDC gigs.

Must either be agency politics...or is friends with someone high at Insomniac and is getting a hookup. Because don't tell me that no one else was available for this type of event that would serve that spot better on the main stage considering the other acts.

This post is of my own accord and of my own opinion. Nothing to do with any group, club, people etc.

can someone please address this? one where does it say that online and two why when i asked earlier what vip entailed there was no mention that the unlimited drinks thing had changed? that's somewhat of a big reason many purchased vip to begin with.

13 words for you Dave :
"Push me. And then just touch me. Till I can get my. Satisfaction." jk

well, I'm agreeing with you though, I personally think he should switch with Gareth Emery, and that would just make more sense to have AvB, A&B, and GE to close the night with. Although this would probably be an issue for crowd control coming into the Colosseum. If anything, Benny hasnt really been coming up with any new productions lately (or not that I know of), and three years in a row on the main stage? too much bureaucracy i'd say

It says right on the EDC website that's launching soon.

That said, it now says seven. For most people, seven is plenty. I'm sure plenty of people got more than that and took them out of the VIP and gave it to their friends or something...if you could take your drinks out of the area that is. It'd be better if it didn't include water in the limit, at least. Water in the masses they buy it at for an event like that is dirt cheap. Someone could have 20 waters, and they'd lose probably a couple bucks max. Most people still wouldn't have more than a few anyway.

$175 for a VIP with a limited hosted bar is kinda high, though. But I'm sure they are betting (and are probably right) that it won't be a huge issue with 95% of the people who care about VIP.

(again, saying this STRICLTY as a fan) Prices for these massives are getting rediculous! Twice the price as European ones of comparable size with still probably half the production overall. Seeing more impressive productions for the US...but still nothing like...oh, this...

Now, understanding both sides of the business....I don't blame Insomniac for raising the prices. It's business in the end.

I also understand why a lot of people complain because at some point it just starts making it unaffordable to more and more people who really care about the music and would like to be there. Especially in this economy! It sucks.

But as long there's that audience (the kids) who continue to have no issue getting mommy & daddy to pay for their tickets, it's not going to change. And more and more DJs are going to focus on playing at these events versus the clubs (like don't expect Armin to play in a club in LA anytime soon, not this year I'd bet)...which goes back to what's hurting the (trance) club scene, IMO. (last thing there isn't directed towards Insomniac, but just the massives vs club scene and how one is affecting the other, IMO)

I dont' hear anyone, kids or adults, going around talking about Benny Benassi anymore. He can probably draw a club crowd somewhat still, but I doubt any kid really cares. most of them were like 9-10 years old when he had any hits.

7 drinks is plenty?!? Thats less than 1 drink per hour!

Also, last year you could not take drinks outside of the VIP. There was a security guards that were not allowing this.

some reason i can't see the page, i searched. thanks for posting ! as for the drinks i can deal with 7 beverages, to tell the truth it's more than enough for me. i do think water and mixers should be free and if they count a red bull vodka as two drinks that is crap. i just hope the other "perks" make it worth while. at any rate this is better than the vip option for electric zoo here in new york although the vip option for bal en blanc in montreal should be the model...get all but the alcohol for maybe $30 more.

Ah yeah, I forgot it 12 hours. That's a little more than 1/2 drink per hour. ;P

7 drinks is still unacceptable for the $168 i paid.... oh well
edit: after all the money you guys came up from those insomniac cards, your company cant even afford to host an open bar.. thats pretty pathetic. tell pasquale to stop being such a frugal bastard

Posted by dorkiedanny on May-09-2010 06:45:

holy crap, the cabana prices just jumped up 500 dollars? things are changing around quick sauce on the website.

also, i'd want to see sean tyas, simon patterson, and gareth emery... but i dont exactly know the time slots for them...and to also see above and beyond and armin on the main stage, things gets mixed up somewhere in there.

do you guys think the way they are listed on the website, the exact order of those slots will be the bottom dj goes first, etc and the top dj is the headliner?

Wow, I cannot believe they are putting a cap on drinks for the night, even including waters. VIP prices keep going up and the perks keep going down.

Is this for real? Tell me this is a joke...
