That was one of the more incredible ones that I've seen...

If you look at the similar vids, there's one of the same instance, from a different angle...

Eres Chileno??

Yo tambien...

They hype certain stuff and down play other stuff. Reporting that Japan is screwed for the rest of eternity sells papers, but saying a plume radiation is about to bombard the west coast will scare the shit out of Americans and can cause mass Chaos throughout the US.

seriously i stopped watching CNN because i was tired of the fear mongering.. you know they're really reaching when the interview STAN from GREATFALLS MONTANA COMMUNITY COLLEGE about something nuclear related.. when they're is something serious worth reporting about, you'll know.

Bid to 'Protect Assets' Slowed Reactor Fight

TOKYOCrucial efforts to tame Japan's crippled nuclear plant were delayed by concerns over damaging valuable power assets and by initial passivity on the part of the government, people familiar with the situation said, offering new insight into the management of the crisis.

Meanwhile, a regulator who was inspecting the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear-power complex when the quake hit offered The Wall Street Journal one of the first eyewitness accounts of the havoc at the site, describing how the temblor took down all communications in the area, greatly complicating the response.

Tepco was reluctant to use seawater because it worried about hurting its long-term investment in the complex, say people involved with the efforts. Seawater, which can render a nuclear reactor permanently inoperable, now is at the center of efforts to keep the plant under control.

"This disaster is 60% man-made," said one government official. "They failed in their initial response. It's like Tepco dropped and lost a 100 yen coin while trying to pick up a 10 yen coin."

Knowing Japan, most of the execs will commit suicide. I just wonder if they will pick and choose Seppuku.

God damn 10 yen coins...

CNN reporting some good news in japan apparently. Reactors 1, 2 & 3 are supposed to be stabilised and no.6 has outside power running its cooling pumps with power to the remaining reactors expected to be restored within a day.

I use to own one, it would go up daily. I am happy I sold the day of what happened, I have yet to buy it back. They have a nice deposit in the US.

Thing is, if countries like China don't go back into building nuclear plants we got a problem or we all just hope China and other nations build nuclear power plants to be able to withstand a 10.0 or 11.0 just to be on the safe side.

That would have to be made on the moon, because a 10 would probably crack the Earth in half.

An 80 year old grandmother and her 16 year old grandson have been pulled from the wreckage of a destroyed house, pretty amazing.

I especially liked the "cell phone" footnote (read the small print)

if the germans used radiation, would you have considered it more humane?

doubly funny because bananas are relatively high in radiation!
