I was doing fine until midterms in the fall, lol. I really thought I'd be able to fit everything in, but nope.

If motivation is a disease I have started a PANDEMIC! My youtube video already has over 3,000 hits and i'm getting messages left and right asking for advice and how my video has motivated them. I got contacted to become a Beachbody coach to help and motivate others going through the program. This is so exciting

If u are doing a low carb diet, then add some healthy fats, and u won't get fatigued/dizzy anymore.

Yeah that's pretty much what I've been doing - except for running there's not much use for protein, so I just eat more pasta and such. The problem is that I'm constantly losing weight, so what's enough calories to stop me from boinking one week might not work the next week, as my metabolic rate just keeps shifting and not in a completely linear fashion.

You almost made me wish I'd taken some fat pics of myself so I could've made my own montage with cheesy 80's music.

Last night I hit the weights again for the first time in six weeks after working away from home. I've lost a bit of strength, mainly endurance, but it's not been a massive regression. I'm mainly pleased that I found it so easy to get back in the basement and back on the bench - I've got to the point where I'm genuinely enjoying it.

Now the weather's nice I'm going to try and rebuild my workout to include some outdoor running and heavy weight, low rep strength training. The dangerous part is falling out of the groove I've got into.

Posted by Silky Johnson on Apr-20-2010 22:54:

Oh, I forgot to mention I tried to use the pull-up bar. LOL. Yeah need to build up some strength first. :/

If y'unt to, put a chair underneath and just support yourself with a foot to work through the motion. You will build up to lifting yourself unsupported really quickly.

Word, thanks for the tip. I'll def try it out!

just got in from the gym. feeling really productive and motivated today, so i'll share with you all i've been trying to cut weight for quite some time now and i seem to have finally escaped a plateau that i hit. my strength is increasing again, and i'm really upping the workout intensity where i can.

cardio has always been my weakest area since i started, as when i started my calves would lock up after cardio that was more than a mile. gradually as i lost weight i could run further but i just havent pushed myself as i shouldve been. recently i've been anal about getting it done and it's showing off. the next step, since it's nice out and my allergies are calming down, i'll begin running outdoors in the morning again.

im already in the best shape i've been in, which isn't to say all that much, but i'm really looking to impress even myself. from time to time since i'm getting back into gear, ill probably drop by here and bump this thread with updates

also, surprise tax refund money FTW! apparently forgot a section and they reimbursed me. money is going straight to investing in new protein and such

somewhat, i haven't gained weight though so that's good. i'm itching to get back into my normal routine but with work it's been hard...plus i keep getting colds. i do walk like i said a couple miles sometimes, that's the beauty of nyc you walk everywhere and carry everything yourself...forced to exercise.

i'm gonna have a LOT of free time soon and i'm gonna workout like a fiend

Posted by Amduscias on Apr-21-2010 21:03:

is it wise to try to jog / run and drink water when you get fatigue?

Posted by nrjizer on Apr-21-2010 22:01:

Alright, I've been really stepping it up lately. I've already been lifting weights 4 times a week, but now I'm doing HIIT in the mornings 5 days a week. Hoping to get nice and lean by summer... we'll see how this goes.

Extremely bad idea. You shouldn't do HIIT if you didn't eat at least 2-3 times that day. It'll cause way too much catabolism. I suggest low intensity cardio, it's way safer, trust me.

Posted by nrjizer on Apr-22-2010 14:53:

Eh, I've only been doing it for 10 minutes (which is about all I have time for in the mornings), which is just enough to get my blood moving. And it's about the only time I can get it done without having to do weights/cardio back to back in the evenings. Plus I'm eating my full breakfast 15-20 minutes later (usually have a snack before hand). I'm not trying to get bulky, I lift for strength/endurance, so I'm not concerned if I lose a bit of muscle.

Posted by bARTovsky on Apr-23-2010 01:19:

I just did 15 mins of HIIT Cardio. Result: I threw up.

Been quite lazy past few months so I guess it was to be expected. Diet's been off too. Fuck I'm so out of shape now!

I'm trying to complement the 100 push-ups a day routine I've just begun with a couple of days of HIIT Cardio. Gotta ease into it I guess.

Pull-ups are the ultimate upper body exercise. Lats, delts, pecs, biceps, triceps... even your abs go into it. And there's so much variety to them: go from wide-grip pull-ups to narrow-grip chins and it puts a totally different emphasis on your muscles.

I love them. Shame I suck at them: I can only do about 14.

no he's fine...unless he wants to put on weight/bulk then I would keep up with that.

mainly biceps delts and back.. not so much triceps.

14 is pretty good. Thats way above average. IF a girl can do like 5 thats extremely impressive (since they tend to be bottom heavy).

My personal best must be around 30 to 35. At one point i was able to do 5 1 handed chinups with my right hand. I doubt i can even do one of those now. So out of shape.

Triceps and pecs are definitely ancillary, but if you rip them up with a heavy bench and fly session and then do some pull-ups the next day you will feel those sore muscles being used.

14 is probably good if you're quite heavy, but I only weigh about 150lbs so I don't think it's very impressive. I'd definitely like to get to the 30-35 level.

Oh yeah no doubt. I'm going to work hard at being able to pwn pull ups. Rawrrrrr!
