so- has this diet really been working? I've been working out for the past 2 or so months and I'm just not seeing enough muscle development. I mean, I only weigh 130 lbs and I'm 6', so I try to eat alot as well as get alot of protein in my diet. I suppose I might want to drink more than one protein shake per day, but other than that I can't really make time to cook up meals 5+ times a day. I rely on lunch meats w/ 15 grams of protein each. But, if this diet is really working out, I might as well give it a shot.

go buy a bunch of chicken from the store...and cook up 5 or so breasts at a time, and eat maybe 1 or 2 for a meal, and heat the rest up later. diet is so important. for you weighing 130 i would say keep the protein at 250-260 grams daily, keep the carbs down and the bad fats down. dieting is really strict and people don't often have the willpower to keep at it then bitch about results. train hard, eat right, and get lots of rest.

by the way, you aren't going to see a lot of development in 2 months. it takes time and dedication. just make sure your weights in lifting movements are going up, even if its only 2 and 1/2 pounds a week or 5 pounds. it will force the muscle to adapt to the new weight and grow.

My dietician that put this together has done the same for the male and female bodybuilding title winners in Australia. His consultative costs were in the hundreds!

Anyway, the diet above is designed to target your liver function, as this organ manages a crazy amount of bodily tasks, so I'd also recommend taking some sort of liver tonic, preferably this stuff: http://www.musashi.com/cgi-bin/mall.pl?format=detail&from=5&page=list&pid=56881&category=FAT%20LOSS&domain=musashi.

For the first week you will feel a little bloated but after that you will start to run hot. Remember 1 day per week you can eat what you want. Its very strict but will ensure you get to your target weight.

I figured that with all the work I was putting in in the gym, I might as well do it all right, and I was working out over 7 times per week, and not seeing results but you seen realise that abs, weight gain and loss, all comes down to diet. It cost me a packet to see this guy for a while but I got the results.

If you want to put on more weight I think I'd go for a few more carbs than you recommend. The latest fad world wide is to completely cut the carbs, but this is not recommended for ideal liver function, and as long as these come in decent form, ie not eating white bread, than he will get his results.

Its good to vary the types of protein you ingest also, chicken, beef, tuna, is all good. Variety is important when dieting.

Ive finally started gaining weigt now and the key has been to reduce the # of workouts per week and up the intensity.

then I also eat 3-4 protein shakes made with soymilk a day and 3 or so heaping bowls of rolled oats with some brown sugar and honey mixed in to barely sweeten it.

I also eat 3-4 tomatoes and 1 avacado a day with around 1/4 lb of lunchmeat and half a head of lettuce a day.

I eat 2-3 bagels with butter and a croissant.

Im as skinny as ever but starting to bulk. Im going to take pictures in 2-3 weeks to show difference.

oh and 4-5 Omega 3 eggs.

Unless youre drinking large amounts of water along with the shake, I would recommend mixing the protein powder with water instead of milk to increase absorption and synthesis.

i drink insane amounts of water hehe. I know from running after eating a protein bar how much friggin liquid protein requires.

Im drinking some right now even !

yeah, some of the shakes I take have a few grams of creatine in them and creatine is very good at retaining water in muscle...and with all the water I take in I sometimes feel as if I need a midol. (JK)

Taking some glucose when you have your creatine assists absorption greatly.

I can't bend my arms..

Problem is located just above the elbows, think it's both the muscles and tendons. How should I stretch to prevent this?

Posted by Radagast on Aug-10-2004 07:44:

You should talk to a doctor that's what you should do about that.

Posted by Cloudburst on Aug-10-2004 07:49:

It's not that bad... I can bend them, but not all the way up...

Post workout for me: Teaspoon of grape jelly and 5 grams of creatine.

20 min later: Recovery shake and a bagel.

Posted by Orbax on Aug-10-2004 15:49:

you cant curl them or you cant extend them?

if its a tendon tightening problem, doing incline seated curl and going all the way down will help stretch it out. Too many people are only doing a 100 degree arc instead of the full 170. It gives them that meathead look.

Do a tricep work out after a bicep

extensions
curls
french press
seated curls

that way you are getting a stretch in as long as you are fully contracting the tricep.

not being able to curl your arm all the way...ive never heard of that. i would go to a doctor.

Posted by Floorfiller on Aug-10-2004 15:54:

i've had that happen to me before. (the arm bending thing). the worst i've ever had it was literally i couldn't bend my arm below 90 degrees for a couple of days. i really over did it. this can definitely happen if...

1. you don't stretch out well before you work out

2. you haven't worked out in a long time and then try to jump in and be superman

it hurts pretty bad too. what i did was i just kept trying to stretch it out all the time...i know its sore, but slowly try to keep stretching it until you can eventually get back to full extension. just make sure you don't rip anything hehehe. anyway, just keep stretching it out and take a couple days off and you'll be good to go.

Point 1. Check.
Point 2. Check.

And when you say stretch, you mean I should try and curl my arm ?

edit: what I'm saying here is that I CAN extend my arms fully, but I can't curl em up all the way, like touch left shoulder with left hand.

Posted by Orbax on Aug-10-2004 16:17:

I cant tell if he cant extend his arm straight or curl it in a neo-classical "thinker" style

Posted by Floorfiller on Aug-10-2004 16:23:

ah ok...i was talking about not being able to extend my arm completely. i've always been able to curl my arm. of course there have been times when the muscle was so full with blood after a workout that i couldn't touch my shoulder, i've never had that stay for any extended period of time. don't know what to suggest.

story about how i got owned this morning....

ok so every couple of days my friend and i go to the old middle school track and get our run on hehe. of course when you see other people on the track you have to pretend you're battling them and outlast them right? right. so today we've been there a good 40 min and this old dude shows up that we've seen a couple of times before. so we're running and he starts up...then he starts to slow down to a walk and we figure he's done. as soon as we even up with him...literally...he starts to jog again, but this time he starts going faster like he is gonna show us up. anyway, we keep to our pace and keep going. so this guy is doing this for only a couple of laps and then he finally gives up and we're like yeah we beat his ass today mutha fucka. anyway, he's walking and we pass him and i just couldn't keep going...i started vomiting all over the track . i mean, how embarassing. here i am thinking i'm this big dude who's owning this guy, and granted we were there a good 4-5miles before he showed up..but here i am throwing up in the grass right in front of him...i got owned
