I said: there are unlimited email/msging packages - but not unlimited data (as in WAP, browser, other applications) packages.

The URL you provided clearly states that it is only unlimited email/bbmsnger.

Sure you can send all the email you want but if you push 30 MB with OperaMini or Google Maps you will get charged.

NOBODY has unlimited data on a BB (email/msging is separate from application data).

dude you wrong, i work for telus, and the plan says unlimited IM and Email, its the name for the feature, but it also includes UNLIMITED DATA. and yes i did read what you said!! goto a telus store and reconfirm the feature is 15$/month.

P.S: this is from work copied and pasted

Effective Date November 16/2007 December 31/2007
Update November 22/2007
Unlimited mobile browser/data has been added as a bonus on the Unlimited Personal Email & IM 15.

Clients receive the unlimited mobile browser/data for as long as they keep the Unlimited Personal Email & IM 15 feature.

There is the Bell URL - which says the same thing as the TELUS one you posted above:

- Unlimited email & BB messenger
- Pay for internet data usage (not unlimited)

also wrong check on howard forums there is a big uproar and everyone is going for the plan.

BTW from the star :

BCE press release:
http://www.bce.ca/en/news/releases/bm/2007/11/16/74533.html

in turn telus turned around and introduced the same thing except with Email and IM inclusive.

Expect Canadian iPhone announcement today (1/15/08).

Posted by Orko on Jan-15-2008 17:44:

I am currently in the market for a new phone/ppc.

Features I need/want:
- GSM
- Wifi (b/g)
- QWERTY keyboard
- Windows Mobile 5 (prefferably 6)
- around $200

I know its hard, and Vertigo has given me some good leads, but does anybody else have any more advice?

I have looked at the HTC Wizard, and it seems the most suited to my needs, but its old.

Apple should just sell the iPhone in Canada without that special data services stuff (like for visual voicemail) that takes a lot of work for Rogers to set up, and Rogers would charge us too much anyway. I'd be happy with an iPhone that works like a regular GSM phone (I'd get a cheap plan like from Fido), but I would still be able to access the net from Wi-Fi in my house & my other hangouts.

Of course Apple too would make more bucks off us if Rogers sets up full iPhone services since Apple gets a cut of the user's monthly charges. Both Apple & Rogers have money reasons for wanting users to be able to access the full array of iPhone online services.

It's lame that we're still waiting, months after they have it rolled out in Europe.

BTW how common is it to see people with unlocked iPhones in Toronto? Never seen one here (small town). Seen a few for sale in some stores in Vancouver.

Is this some special promotion or something? I can't find unlimited data plans on Fido's website. Would really be interested in this.

Also, rabbitjoker, know if the Unlim WAP = $7 is coming to Fido as well?

Posted by malek on Feb-27-2008 02:38:

my contract is about to expire with fido.

anyone knows of an unlimited data plan that usable via bluetooth with my nokia n800?? The N800 isn't a phone, a regular mobile would serve as a modem.

So What Are The Restrictions?
The plans will be restricted to Rogers or Fido branded phones/devices (respectively) that are non-PDA, non-Blackberry, non-Windows Mobile, and non-PC card devices. This means that the plan DOES NOT work for unlocked phones, tethering, smartphones, PDAs, Blackberrys, etc. Furthermore, you must use the built-in browser of your Rogers or Fido branded phone (i.e. third party applications will NOT work).

well that just killed my buzz

quote:

How Is This Enforced?
This is enforced by detecting the IMEI of your phone (each time you turn on/use your phone, your IMEI is transmitted to Rogers/Fido). This allows Rogers/Fido to see whether the phone you are using is a Rogers or Fido (respectively) branded handset and whether it is a Windows Mobile, PC-Card, Blackberry, or PDA device.

What Is An IMEI Number?
IMEI stands for International Mobile Equipment Identity. An IMEI number is a unique 15 digit number that identifies your GSM/UMTS/HSDPA handset. You can check the IMEI number of your handset by typing *#06# into your handset. If you want to find out more about your IMEI number, you can get it analyzed here: http://www.numberingplans.com/?page...sis&sub=imeinr.
