I'm pretty freaking bored and still @ work. Kinda wish I actually did something here in the accounts payable dept. At least I hear an interesting story every now and then.

One of my co-workers has a friend who ended up in jail over the holiday weekend. why??
a woman showed up on her doorstep with a 2 month old baby, claiming it belonged to her husband. after the door was slammed in her face, she promptly left the baby and all of its belongings on the woman's front lawn and left.

needless to say, she beat the crap out of her husband and stabbed him in the chest. ouch!

... bored bored bored

lol those are the type of people that are usually in MY office!!! LOL

anyways, if anyone wants to make this decision for me, I was accepted for a position today right before I went on an interview for another job. Turns out the other job is EVERYTHING I want, but I still have to go thru 2 more interviews. The first job wants to know now, and I have errr.....very little money remaining in my pocket ADN my rent got JAKED an extra $300 per month!!!

Do I take the risk and wait out the second job, or take the guaranteed-not-so-great-job?

ANY advice would be GREAT!!

I know this may kinda sound fucked up but you gotta do what is best for you. I say you take the job that wants you now (just to get some cash for the time being).....and still go on the interview for the other job in the meantime. If you get accepted to the job that you really really want then tell the current company that this wasnt exactly the type of work you were looking for and you are sorry its just not for you and go and work at the next place. The place you left will probably just go throught they're resumes again and call back they're second choice and everyone is happy.

Employers screw people all the time without giving a care...so I usually work with that same mentality when thinking about work. Screw them before they can screw you.

I just got in at 830.

Doing some work on a laptop and listening to puredj.com

I forsee some bullshit issues arising with printers today, like every damn day.

lol you are saying what everyone is telling me to do. LOL even my former supervisor (and mentor) told me to do that. She was like "its shady and me, being a supervisor, have been fucked over by mad potential employees, but in all honesty, employers fuck over people all the time, so why not do it back? you gotta do whats best for you." lol I love my boss!
Thanks for your advice, Z, ANYTHING would help since i am so stuck!!

i don't like to screw people over because i think it'll comeback and bite me in the ass (especially in my industry) but if it won't hurt you why not

Not sure what industry you are in....I mean burning bridges isn't good if general but in this case I wouldnt be too concerned unless you are looking for some good references but being at a place only a week or 2 I wouldnt even bother putting that on my resume so I know I wouldnt have to depend on anyone there vouching for me since I left them anyway.....

Long term...say a place you worked at like 5 years for example, I would leave on a good note knowing that you will need them for something one day either for a reference or to come back to work there if things dont work out with the new place.

Look in the mirror and say to your self, "Self, what does Kelly really want??"

... nothing worse than not being true to yourself. Gotta take big risks sometimes to come out ahead but it's up to you. Good luck!

i meant in regards to accepting a job then turning around and taking another. there are pretty much four organizations i really want to work for for the rest of my life. so everyone knows everyone else from conferences or from working at one of the four other organizations. also once you get a job you pretty much can't quit or you might never get back in

Ah..That blows! I guess in that case if they don't accept you back then the only other option would be working for the competitor or changing industries entirely.

My company kind of beleives in second chances I guess. They would be willing to take someone back assuming that they liked you, you did your job well, you left on good terms, and they still had your position open or another similar position.

oh yeah leaving for another opportunity is fine but taking a job and quiting it immediately after taking it wouldn't be so good. pretty much i only want to work for the four major leagues (nhl nfl mlb and nba) and a handful of their teams. something people don't realize is that these organizations are small and there are few jobs available. there is a lot of movement between teams/leagues because that is pretty much the only guaranteed way to move up in the industry because once you get a decent job the probability of someone up and quitting is pretty low...everyone knows one another which is good and bad because that is how you get jobs. from what i've seen you HAVE to have some type of connection or you'll get nowhere.

Sadly that is the case for most places these days.
