i think the leafs could make the playoffs if they were in the ahl.

Posted by Romchik22 on Aug-17-2010 21:06:

I would love to have Carey Price signed before the camp starts :s

Posted by epicaricacy on Aug-17-2010 21:08:

i say fuck him, and use the 4.5 million we have left for an adequate big d man.

goalies don't win you cups anymore.

probably....but I don't think they would win the championship.

I'm not worried....give Burke another 10 years and he will figure it out.

... Poor Calgary. A lot of people at the begining of last season tought that they had a lot of chances of going for the cup... Now they're stuck with Jokinen and Stajan .
As for Carey Price, I'm ready and willing to put money on the fact that he'll become top 3 goaltenders of the nhl this year.

I don't feel bad for Calgary. I feel bad for the laughing stock of the NHL, the Leafs, for trading their draft pick for kessel

LAWL

he's done a decent job with what he had to work with other than the brutal kessel trade.

the leafs have an established winner in nets now and one of the better bluelines in the east right now. While i might laugh at them a lot, they will compete better this year and will not finish 29th again. If they pound out enough 1 goal wins (which is obviously the style of game they have to play with the assets that they have), we might not be talking about golf until near the end of the year.

your team has absolutely 0 offense, but if they don't give up many they might surprise. It isn't going to be a fun team to watch, but then again they never really were

seriously

especially when the top story on sportscenter every night is a BLue Jays game

Enough cfl, winnipeg vs. saskatchewan garbage, tennis, mlb brewers vs. nationals, golf, nfl training camp...etc etc

GIVE ME HOCKEY. And if it's not hockey give me at least SOME hockey news. Anything!! This time next month, NHL training camp will be under way, thank god.

I don't think that leafs will do anything good this year. They have the worst centers in the league and BY FAR!!! When Grabovski is by far your best center, there's a big problem.
As for their D... Kaberle is very very good and I don't understand why they want to trade him. They'll never get good value for him. Komisarek = FAIL, Phaneuf I'm very curious on how he'll react. As for Kessel, I'm not entirely sure that the trade was a big flop. Kessel with a good centerman ( Like Pleky ) = 45 goals +. Now that's realy rare to find in the nhl. And when they got him I don't think they expected to finish that low. Can't pity Toronto, hate hate hate hate them!
It's a very very big year for habs. Next year we might have a completly different face on the blue line.

Posted by jester on Aug-18-2010 02:22:

we should all try and get tickets for one game and sit in a section together lol TA meet up at a habs game!

the leafs have a much better defensive core than we do. they are not going to be a dominant team by any means, but if they play a tight game they will finish way higher up in the standings than last year.

not really hard to beat though

i think this year can go either way for the habs. our powerplay really needs a quarterback hopefully pk is ready.

Posted by Romchik22 on Aug-18-2010 22:34:

PK/Markov on the blue line will BE MONSTER!!!!
BTW who do you think will have the C next year?
My bet is Markov, if not him I think it'll be Gionta.

Posted by epicaricacy on Aug-18-2010 22:43:

pk and markov will not play together (powerplay yes, 5 on 5 no chance). it makes no sense to have 2 offensive d men on the same pairing, too many cooks and such.

considering markov is going to miss a chunk of the season next year...it is a big biiiiig burden to put on a player with 2 nhl games under his belt. I still think pk has to be one of the favs for rookie of the year this year, but he can as easily go the other way and play like a player his age.

i would be surprised to see marky as a captain, considering he turned the offer down last year. My guess is gio, and josh gorges should really be given an A.

Posted by Romchik22 on Aug-18-2010 22:46:

Markov stated last year that he didn't turn it down and it was never offered to him. I think Markov is the most logic choice. He has very good work ethic, we drafted him, has the biggest seniority and goes into the top 10 D-man in the league and top 5 offensive-d man in the league

Posted by epicaricacy on Aug-18-2010 22:50:

markov does not do the media thing well...which is essential in this city if you are going to wear the C.

Posted by Marcus007 on Aug-18-2010 23:04:

20$ cammy gets the c

why?

1. because he's young (unlike markov who is nearing the end of his career)
2. he's good with the media
3. he isn't a greedy player

gionta is too old to be captain!

I love markov, dont get me wrong, but with two serious injuries within the course of a year... i just dont know if he can bring it anymore... hopefully he can... but hes old... i say we trade him in for a BIG power forward

AND FOR GODS SAKES WHO THE HELL GAVE HAMRLIK 5 MILLION DOLLARS A YEAR? BRAINLESS BOB FOR FUCKS SAKE!!!!!

Posted by epicaricacy on Aug-18-2010 23:09:

cammy will not be captain...i'll bet you 100$.

he is great for the media, but is recognized for being his own biggest fan. I love the guy, but he isn't going to lead this team. Have you ever heard some of the stuff said about him when he was in calgary?

yeah, not going to happen.

you don't need a young captain, you need veteran leadership from players that know what it takes to win the whole damn show.

Posted by Marcus007 on Aug-18-2010 23:20:

maybe youre right

so whos your pick then?

Posted by epicaricacy on Aug-18-2010 23:31:

i'm almost certain it will be gionta.

the fact that he is even taking french lessons makes me think so even more.

Posted by Enjoy on Aug-19-2010 00:22:

yeah i think it will be gionta as well

Posted by Bertuzz on Aug-19-2010 01:01:

Let Cammy score the goals, he doesn't need the captaincy as a distraction

Markov will be the A, he's not vocal enough as captain.

I say Gionta as C. Markov, Gorges with As with the potential for either Gomez, Hamrlik or Cammy as the 3rd A.

Posted by epicaricacy on Aug-19-2010 01:08:

hal gill could also very easily get an A.

gomez is not a leader imo...leaders do not take as many dumb penalties as he does, they set the example.

as much as I hated Gill in the regular season, I became a convert in the playoffs. I hope he keeps that up in the regular season!
