hahahaha

If Insomniac's thinks I'm going to fork over all that money for VIP again they can go fuck themselves. When I bought my ticket it said open bar.

Same... i'm not happy at all. i dont take spending $168 on a ticket lightly at all, and it was hard for me to even pay that but I did it for the open bar . For a party that begins at 2 pm i would like to be able to drink AS MANY WATERS during the day as I want, and then be able to drink some drinks at night... now im going to have to ration my drinks. what a joke!

Doesn't include water.

Posted by altgt on May-09-2010 18:25:

Well the way it's worded it sure sounds like it:

"Hosted bar limited to seven (7) total beverages per person, per day(Options include both alcoholic & Non-alcoholic beverages: beer, vodka, energy drinks & water)"

Seven beverages which include water. Maybe it should say 7 alcoholic beverages? At least it's a touch better if it doesn't include water, but still pretty low. I really dislike this.

The only thing that's a joke here IS THE EVENT ITSELF

Posted by scatterbrain on May-09-2010 19:10:

If you're looking forward to getting as many drinks as possible, it's not worth it. You'll be waiting in line for at least 1/2 an hour each time you bo back for drinks. But I'm basing this on Monster Massive VIP. Maybe it's different now.

would you be so kind as to give in us in detail what the vip ticket entails? you are closest to the event and honestly when i asked prior to getting my ticket what that came with you didn't correct the person who said open bar so my assumption like many others is that what was described was in fact what the ticket offers. which is similar to last year and about the same price point.

i, like many others, am flying in to experience this event and i don't think it's too much to be open and honest about what each ticket offers. you say it doesn't includes water but it clearly says it does; what is fact? there really shouldn't be any ambiguity in this, i understand trying to break even and hopefully turn a profit. i know promoters i get it but i don't like how something so basic as the key offerings of a premium product are not shared with the consumer. i don't need unlimited drinks nor do i want them but i sure as hell what to know what i paid for.

Posted by fantasyexctasy on May-09-2010 22:37:

I am willing to ask my buddy to get a class action lawsuit going for those who bought their ticket when it said open bar if anybody wants to join. This is the most Israeli thing I have ever experienced

Henry can't be trusted, he drinks the kool aid.

I only drink water

Posted by first in space on May-10-2010 04:15:

I was shocked when i came on here and saw that there is a 7 drink limit on the vip tickets! that is ridiculous! i just shelled out over 500 bucks for my gf's and my VIP tickets with the expectation that we might actually be able to get a good buzz for our money, but 7 drinks? they better be stiffer than bob dole after a viagra shoot. i hope every one else who is displeased with this new policy, can leave their two cents and maybe insomniac might do something about this. i mean seriously, the prices are already more expensive than last year and we're not even getting as much for our money! for most of us the reason we get VIP is so we don't have to be shelling out 10 bucks a pop for drinks all night. as a supporter of insomniac since 05 (and i don't even live in cali) i really hope your management reconsiders this. if things keep up the way they are, we may have to skip EDC next year in favor of DEMF or something else.

Posted by jonmitz on May-10-2010 04:40:

The best part is I thought it was a ripoff with unlimited drinks, I'm SO glad now.

Posted by fantasyexctasy on May-10-2010 05:38:

All over the internet Insomniac is getting backlash for this bullshit. If they want EDC, and more importantly their company, to remain where it is today, they better change the fucken limit back to open bar. The entire facebook page is filled with rage over the limit. The whole point of VIP is the open bar, I bought a ticket with the website claiming open bar. If this was a car, I'd be suing Insomniac right now.

Complain to [email protected]

If we get enough complaints, I'm sure they will change their bullshit policy. Otherwise, there is one person on this board who I will continue not to trust

So yeah, be sure to call! Hopefully there's none for EDC tix.

The venue's box office is usually where there's no service fee. Butit's usuaully not convenient to get to them. :-p

For those who still care about this (I don't, but I like to inform!), the EDC website (in development) says, "Tickets with no service charge are available in downtown Los Angeles at the Sports Arena box office, located at 3939 S. Figueroa St.
Los Angeles, CA 90037."

To me, that makes it sound like the remote ticket locations do have convenience fees.

I was just about to post this! thanks!

The VIP tix for LovEvolution 2009 came with 2-3 free drink tickets, so it does vary by event. I do agree that selling a ticket without explaining what's offered isn't a good thing to do, however.

Absent any information otherwise, I think most people would assume that this year's VIP would be same as last year's. Personally, I would prefer that they pour a decent quality vodka and have a limit on the drinks rather than serve that Russian Standard sh*t again, which by any other name is poison!

Also, I would be dead after drinking 7 vodka drinks, although I know everybody's different.

so, Armin event at Calgary on June 27th is sold out and people want 100 bucks on craiglist for tix so screw them, hmm googled around and then I went to his website and saw that he will be playing at EDC, then I saw the line up

ARMIN VAN BUUREN
ABOVE & BEYOND
LAIDBACK LUKE
GARETH EMERY
CHRISTOPHER LAWRENCE
SIMON PATTERSON
SEAN TYAS

OK, BRB picking my jaw

all of this for only 75 bucks

I am in in in w00t gonna make a trip to LA again in glorious sunshine this time (Jan 2010 was a bad time to travel to LA )

too bad the Above & Beyond show at Calgary ends at 2:30am on Friday and I don't think I have enough time&energy to pull so probably have to skip that one :'(

Be ready for the shock of your life when you see the (candy kids) rave scene here. Everyone who comes from the east coast, north or south, is always shellshocked by how young and how vibrant (exposed?) and PLLLUUURRRFUL all the young ones are. :-p

Posted by jonmitz on May-10-2010 07:50:

the more I think about it, the more I think that what insomniac did was probably illegal

Posted by DaveT on May-10-2010 08:07:

If Insomniac made a change and offered to refund (including any convenience fee) tickets purchased prior to so-and-so date (basically the date the site is launched) because of the change, then it probably wouldn't get far in any type of court because they are at least trying to make good. I've seen enough court shows on TV to know that them at least trying to show they are making good goes a long way, lol!

If they wanted to play it even safer, they could either setup a system where if someone wanted to exchange for a GA ticket (and get the difference as a refund) rather than a full refund, they could do so where the cost of the GA ticket was the price it was either when tickets were first sold or at least at the cost they were at the time the VIP tickets were first bought.

BTW, this is all hypothetical. If nothing is offered, I'd still be shocked if much is done. 99.9% of people will complain but do nothing more.

i agree with this. offer the refund or change it back to open bar, preferably the latter. can't really offer a service and then change it after its been purchased (unless there are some legal reasons behind it).

*tip* it would be nice to have an explanation or best yet, an apology.

i have tried the vip tix at past insominac events and never doing it again.

to get a f'ing drink, you have to wait 30 to 45 mins to get one freakin drink. last time we had vip, we ended up going out of the vip area to buy drinks cause there were no lines at the non-vip bars.

if you are buying the vip tix for open bar/drinks, then its not worth it. take my word for it.

i think vip tix are good if you like the freedom to roam wherever you choose and to be in areas where everyone is at least over 21. but other than that, i always found myself in the middle of the dance areas (where its most fun) - so vip is def not worth it, imo.

Posted by modthispny on May-10-2010 17:18:

the one and only time i did vip was at armin only tao.

there were no lines and were serving grey goose vodka.

i guess after that is when vip went to the crapper.

open bar worked great last year at EDC... a bit disappointed as to the 7 drink limit but frankly if waters don't count as part of the 7 i don't see it affecting me personally too much...
