Finally back to working out frequently after two months of being too sick to leave bed or eat, really. I missed it.
I have no idea how people work out at night. I am so energetic afterwards that it's entirely possible I might kick someone in the face.
I've been going to the gym 4 times a week for almost three years now and running 5 miles usually twice a week for about 4 years now.
I found a new park I'm going to start running at the other day that has 6 mile trails through the wilderness. Stooooked. Eventually I'd like to be able to save up enough money and get into rock climbing and bouldering since I can pull my own weight eeeeasily.

It's normal. Exercise releases endorphins which make you feel better. That's why exercise is a great thing to do if you're stressed.

There's a difference between feeling better and feeling energetic. The "euphoric post-workout glow" I mentioned is the endorphins, but after a good workout I have rubbery limbs and no energy left at all. Sometimes I can barely lift my arms to make a protein shake.
Anyone here ever use adderall when working out? I've had access to it whenever I wanted, and it's always been a huge plus in the motivation dept. Now trying to work out without it is a bit of a challenge. Anyone else been there?

I always found that having a banana or some other readily digestible nutritious food after a workout brought me back up to speed faster.
Granted, but again there's a big difference between "recover to a decent level after about an hour" and feeling energetic after a few minutes. Anyone feeling the latter is probably not pushing themselves hard enough.
I remember the first time my friends took me to the gym, I was thinking "Wow, this is pretty strenuous" and we were just doing the warm up. They pushed me to the absolute limit - it was the first time I'd ever worked that hard, harder than I thought I could go. It took me a week to recover from it, with the crippling first-time DOMS, but it completely redefined what my limit actually was.

When I shower after working my arms and/or chest, it is noticeably harder to reach parts of my back. Love that feeling.

After doing that for a while I joined a gym and really can't imagine not working out. I even guilt trip myself when I take a week off. Dunno, I just got into it I suppose. |

| Originally posted by SYSTEM-J That's what we're talking about. You get a big endorphin rush, and those endorphins don't just vanish. It probably depends on your workout routine, what kind of exercises you do. I work out at home with heavy weights and I try to do high intensity sessions, never resting for more than 60 seconds and doing a full workout in half an hour. When I'm finished I just stagger out of my basement and collapse for a while. When I went to a gym I never felt so destroyed because the same workout took much longer, what with waiting for equipment and machines to become free, and so on. But yeah, my post-workout state is utterly exhausted, warm and very uplifted. It's almost post-coital. |
I woke up and did 40 pushups this am.
had a long day at work. came home and worked it. just doing the simple sets i've been doing lately, but increasing weight just a little bit. little bit goes along ways, i think. i'm sore right now, in fact, my left arm feels kinda tingly lol. but i'm glad i did it. and i'm noticing some little changes now in my chest and that makes me feel good
Getting back into it really soon, running + lifting. I fucking need it, shit.
