Can we combine all those guys into one guy? Can we time warp Tom Glavine back 10 years? Can Ishii throw harder than 86 mph and not get bludgeoned everytime in the 5th or 6th inning when hitters come up for the 3rd time?

Philip Hughes has been compared to a young Roger Clemens. Knowing me, if I was the GM, I'm not trading any of the young guys. My ass is pretty tight when it comes to trading young pitching prospects who throw in the upper 90's with his control.

Melky... defensive wizard..... uhh....

Should be interesting to see how well "TBA" pitches for the Yanks on Sunday

Posted by partyhopper on Jul-16-2005 06:17:

Yanks could some of the A's pitching right now
First on Thurs, Harden had a perfect game going into 8th inning
then last night, Zito had a no-hitter going into 8th

in his debut with the Nats
it was a balkoff, as it brought in the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning...
without throwing a pitch

this follows his last appearance as a yankee lasting for one pitch, which gave up a walk-off home run

he's shown he's not the guy to bring in during extra innings, especially for the road team

Posted by partyhopper on Jul-16-2005 07:44:

meanwhile, Glavine actually pitches a good game against the Braves for once (and doesn't lose), but the Mets can't take advantage of it, as Smoltz was too good, and the Mets lose, 2-1

Great game the night before though, with 2 HR's by Wright, 3-run game-winning HR by Piazza, and web gems by Wright (diving catch of an attempt suicide squeeze bunt, to get a huge double play) and Floyd (running into stands to catch a foul ball, and doing a handstand afterwards)

But why?

Posted by verndogs on Jul-16-2005 13:54:

wow...the A's no hit the Rangers into the 8 innings on back to back games, the first being a perfect game and the 2nd being a no hitter

That was not a balk!

Worst call ever

Oh well you gotta take it and move on. I just don't agree with the ending of that game.

Welllll... technically... it was a balk. It's just that every left-hander balks when they throw to first and they rarely, if ever, get called on it. Took some balls by the ump to call it. But now he has to call it everytime.

Oh boy... Yankees trade for...

The Senator... Al Leiter.

80 IP
88 H
52 K
60 BB
1.85 WHIP
6.64 ERA

My favorite, however, is that he has averaged 5 (FIVE) innings per start. After watching Al these past few years, and see what he's done for the Marlins... I am SCARED to see what happens on Sunday against the Red Sox.

lol

I know you're right. But I hated the guy before coming to the Yanks. It took me awhile to get over that fact and I wanted more bang for my 25 million. I wanted him to be what he's been lately. I guess I'm satisfied now....

Ummm... last few starts? He hasn't given up over 3 ERs in a start since April 24th. His ERA has only dropped after every start since then... If he keeps this up, the Mets have a super solid 1-2-3 in Petey, Benson, and Zambone.
