with the current trend in baseball you're almost better off being the wild card team than the divisional winner.

you're so close to that $50 now

It's unlike you to talk this way.

my buddy left the money in an envelope in between my screen door and front door because he didnt want to hear any shit from me.

Pinstripe Power.

I'm actually excited to see the White sox in the playoffs. I don't know who the wildcard is going to be in the AL or NL, but at this exact moment and this precise time, I would say I'd like to see the Sox win the world series. When was the last time they won? 1917 or something?

of course next tuesday this post may become null and void

hahaha give him shit anyways!

What are you going to do with your cash now?

Posted by Shamez214 on Sep-30-2005 11:22:

I hate the White Sox. I think they are a terrible a team. I seriously doubt they even come close to making it out of the first round. Scott Podsednik is the most overrated player in baseball history. Anyone who says this team was better off with him than Carlos Lee is an idiot.

I don't mind that at all. I would have preferred them to win the Central over the white sox but if the yanks can't beat boston, then I'll be happy to get that WC. Keep at her pale hose.

Its ok man, youre just mad that they can win the division while barely playing .500 ball in the second half while your team is struggling just to make the wild card. If they are such a terrible team why were they the best team in baseball for most of the year and still the best team in the AL?

Posted by Mebot on Oct-01-2005 17:29:

Because they're from Chicago

What a brutal day in baseball. Both Red Sox and Indians lose today. Sigh. Got to watch pieces of both games, lots of mistakes and failed scoring opportunities. Oh well. Baseball playoff pool is almost ready to be launched. Tomorrow.

First off, I'm a Mets fan, not a Red Sox fan.

Second... the White Sox were playing way over their heads for most of the year. They probably should be in 2nd place behind the White Sox. Which means that they'll almost surely not make it next year.

Posted by Dj Smitty20 on Oct-01-2005 22:56:

Where are the bandwagon Red Sox fans now?

I feel that Yankee mystique starting to make its presence felt again...

Here's a sneak preview on what the baseball playoff pool will look like: http://www.geocities.com/magnetonium2/ .

I have to say that I've done it for the 4th year in a row now, and noone, I mean NOONE that has participated in it has picked the winner. But, this is the first time TA's finest will be in on this baseball pool. And, maybe this year it won't be the underdogs who's spoil the fun!

If you have any questions or suggestions with regards to the points system, let me know. Also, if there will be a "one game playoff" this year, then this will be an additional 2 point bonus if you pick the winner.

I have a complex tie-breaking procedure in case a tie for leader happens (hasn't happened in 3 previous years) that I could post later.

On sunday, once the playoff positions are solidified, you can post your playoff picks here on TA and I will promptly organize them. Submission due date is the first game of playoffs start time. Cheers.

Here's an example of how I'd like to see your pool submissions (AN EXAMPLE, NOT MY PICKS YET):

AL: NYY beat Red Sox in 5
White Sox defeat Angels in 5
Yankees defeat White Sox in 7

NL: Cardinals defeat Braves in 3
Astros defeat Padres in 5
Cardinals defeat Astros in 7

WS: Cardinals defeat Yankees in 6.

New York and Boston can't face each other in the Division Series.

I think it will be Red Sox vs. White Sox and Yankees vs. Angels if you look at their respective records.

Yes yes, you are right. Good point. How's the pool structure? Good?
