HAHA well yea that lighting will work better than lasers haha. Thing with lasers is its cheaper than lighting. So wasnt sure how much they put into lighting. That is sick though. I mean like with the church before the lights were actually used since tiesto, there was nothing. so in that case lasers would have worked. But yea lights are better if they are good.

I just was hoping a sound engineer could explain how the Funktion works using surround as well as acoustic panel like dance floor. I took some classes on sound and what not so those two dont really make sense to me. But with an explanation that makes sense - I can see how bad ass it really is.

imo the dance floor would *only* make sense (from a sound perspective) if it was empty, however when people are standing/dancing on it they're acting like a diffuser for the sound as it travels from front to back. perhaps it has more to do with being comfortable to dance on for extended periods of time than anything else?

And we're not just installing one, but two of these futuristic systems in Beta - one in the main room and one in the Beatport Lounge.
We've taken great lengths to find sonic purity by hiring an acoustical engineer to analyze our space and we've installed more acoustic paneling then Webster Hall to ensure audio perfection.

but i digress, nowhere in his original post regarding the funktion one do i see a mention of "surround sound" so where are you getting that from?

Yea thats what i would say about the dance floor. For acoustic panels in a club to actually work you need them on the wall and ceiling. As for surround, I was told that, but I guess it doesnt mention anything about that. Cause from what i know surround isnt a switch type of thing. You need to have the tracks produced in dolby to be played in surround and this is something that is a bitch and is rarely done. It is like taking a blu ray dvd or hddvd and clicking surround. The amp will eliminate sound channels.

Well with that aside - FUNKTION ONE Array 4! Not sure how the new array sounds, but cant wait to check it out. Off topic, but anyone heard of JBL Synthesis? I went to a demo of the new line and think the older ones were better. JBL Synthesis is considered right up there with Funktion One for Pro Audio.

correct

Posted by element-y on Feb-29-2008 23:50:

OHH ok. that clarifies a lot. Yea if Beta sets up properly, that place could really look top notch.

Posted by biznology on Mar-01-2008 09:07:

yeh after beer fest last fall that culminated at rise, hopefully they spruced it up a bit, but its a dynamic space.

lets just hope that it moves into the 2001s design wise. i guess seeing it with daylight didnt help tho|

I dont think they are renovating the outside - are they? Like i mentioned, they should have lights outside or a projection of the event flyer, something do make it feel club like and attract/spread the word from those passing by it.

no i meant that we were inside the club around 3pm, it wasnt too pretty. that being said most clubs prolly look like shit when you can see things with real light|

Updated with more CO dates - man, coclubs is getting their ass handed to them this spring with lineups by Beta - QBERT?!?!?! Seriously, the only DJs I would even remotely go see from CoClubs for this spring are Marco Bailey, MSTRKRFT, and.....that's it.

Better step it up, CoClubs - Beta's coming up from behind and looking to score.

that's not a bad thing, having to go to the church or vinyl for a quality act is pretty much unbearable anymore...when a dj like three is rammed on a saturday w/ essentially the older version of the thurs church crowd it's time to move on

Posted by omega1n on Mar-05-2008 07:58:

I will be drunk to the max this weekend!!

Here's the Lazer Nation flyer.

Posted by element-y on Mar-06-2008 00:30:

50 dollars for opening weekend at beta... umm.. sorry but FUCK YOU! What a way to open the club - rip the fuck out of people for kaskade and sharham???

Posted by StealthAssassin on Mar-06-2008 05:53:

I think the only reason it is so spendy is cause it's all you can drink included. Perhaps there is a second option if you don't want the all you can drink.

HUH??? What's wrong with open bar of ANY liquor you want? It's a good deal knowing that I easily drop $60 at the bar....

Posted by element-y on Mar-06-2008 07:53:

AHH ok. My bad. I didnt check the listing myself. Was told by a friend its 50 and he didnt say open bar. The open bar makes sense and is a great way to open a club weekend up then.

You will see me at both this and the denver show! If you have facebook i made an event listing for the boulder one and will do so for the denver one this weekend.

The denver one will be a lot better though and more psychadelic. The fox is pretty weak with lighting and stage design.

Yeah, I know it isn't necessarily - I just have that dang LCD Soundsystem "Losing My Edge" in my head.

"I'm losing my edge
To the kids that are coming up from behind."

Yes, CoClubs, the edge is certainly being lost.
